The document describes a medical mirror that can track and display a user's heart rate in real time using only a webcam, without any external sensors. The mirror consists of an LCD monitor with a built-in webcam connected to analysis software running on a laptop. It uses computer vision techniques to detect the user's face, extract color signals, and analyze the frequency corresponding to heart rate. The technology provides a low-cost, convenient way to monitor heart rate and overall health from the comfort of one's home.
The heart acts as a pump that circulates oxygen and
nutrient carrying blood around the body in order to keep
it functioning. When the body is exerted the rate at which
the heart beats will vary proportional to the amount of
effort being exerted. By detecting the voltage created by
the beating of the heart, its rate can be easily observed
and used for a number of health purposes. Heart pounds
to pump oxygen-rich blood to your muscles and to carry
cell waste products away from your muscles. The heart rate gives a good indication during exercise routines of
how effective that routine is improving your health.

Non-Contact Health Monitoring System Using Image and Signal ProcessingAtul Kumar Sharma
Presently digital medical devices promise to transform the future of medicine because of their ability to produce exquisitely detailed individual physiological data. As ordinary people start to have access and control over their own physiological data so that they can play a more active role in the management of their health. Currently many techniques are available for counting our heartbeat but it all needs bundles of sensors and wires. For heartbeat measurement using Electrocardiograph(ECG) method, we have to attach a bundle of leads in our chest and have to use adhesive gel. It is very difficult to patients and it can cause irritation to the skin. Another type is pulse oximeters and sensors, in this method sensors are attached to the finger tips or earlobes. This is also difficult for user.
In case of "Non-contact health monitoring system using image and signal processing" which gives contact free measurement about our physiological information using basic image processing devices. Users have the experience of real time health monitoring by just looking into "medical mirror". It recognizes our heartbeat without any external or internal sensor and displays it in real time. This invention helps people to access their own physiological data.

Antibiotic Stewardship by Anushri Srivastava.pptxAnushriSrivastav
Stewardship is the act of taking good care of something.
Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics), improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.
WHO launched the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) in 2015 to fill knowledge gaps and inform strategies at all levels.
ACCORDING TO apic.org,
Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics), improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.
ACCORDING TO pewtrusts.org,
Antibiotic stewardship refers to efforts in doctors’ offices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and other health care settings to ensure that antibiotics are used only when necessary and appropriate
According to WHO,
Antimicrobial stewardship is a systematic approach to educate and support health care professionals to follow evidence-based guidelines for prescribing and administering antimicrobials
In 1996, John McGowan and Dale Gerding first applied the term antimicrobial stewardship, where they suggested a causal association between antimicrobial agent use and resistance. They also focused on the urgency of large-scale controlled trials of antimicrobial-use regulation employing sophisticated epidemiologic methods, molecular typing, and precise resistance mechanism analysis.
Antimicrobial Stewardship(AMS) refers to the optimal selection, dosing, and duration of antimicrobial treatment resulting in the best clinical outcome with minimal side effects to the patients and minimal impact on subsequent resistance.
According to the 2019 report, in the US, more than 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections occur each year, and more than 35000 people die. In addition to this, it also mentioned that 223,900 cases of Clostridoides difficile occurred in 2017, of which 12800 people died. The report did not include viruses or parasites

7
8. HISTORY
• In 2009, Ming-Zher Poh and his
roommate, Dan McDuff electrical
and medical-engineering graduate
student at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology (MIT).
• His friend McDuff wrote code to
process the data in real time which
is used to generate an instant heart-
rate reading in laptop. 8
9. HEART BEAT RATE
• Determine your fitness level, also your
cardiovascular health.
• A high resting heart rate increases the risk of
heart attack and can be indicative of a
predisposition for diabetes and obesity.
• An excellent indicator of your overall fitness.
9
10. DESIGN
•An LCD monitor with a built in webcam to
provide an interactive display.
•The user is visible to webcam and LCD monitor
can be used to project information onto the
reflective surface of mirror.
•The monitor and webcam are connected to a
laptop running the analysis software in real time.10
15. HOW IT WORKS?
• An automated face tracker detects the largest
face from the webcam.
• The raw RGB signals are decomposed into
three independent components.
• The users heart rate is quantified as the
frequency that corresponds to highest power of
the spectrum within an operational frequency
band.
15
16. FACE TRACKER
• The automated face tracker which detects largest face
from the video captured by webcam.
• Automatic face tracker is a technology to detect size
and location of the users face.
16
17. RGB CHANNEL
• RGB colour sensor capture a blend of
the reflected plethysmographic signal
with the other source of change in
light caused by the movement or
changes in ambient lighting
condition.
17
18. INTERACTION
• A single user at a time.
• The user will see a box appear around
his/her face.
• Users heart rate will be displayed on the
mirror.
• The heart rate measurement will be
updated continuously until the user looks
away.
18
19. CALCULATION OF HEART
BEAT
• 45-240bpm operational frequency
band.
• Video physiological recording are
done by using MATLAB.
19
21. ADVANTAGES
• Low cost.
• Fits seamlessly into the ambient home
environment.

people to track their daily health with
minimal effort.
• You could also use it on a phone or
laptop or any device that has camera.
21
22. DISADVANTAGES
• Like ECG technology it is not
possible.
• We have to wait a time period of 15
seconds to get heartbeat count.
22
23. CONCLUSION
• This is an amazing invention because the
relationship between medical mirror and
people could save some people and some
discomfort when they visit the doctor and
it possibly could help others save their
lives by noticing the higher heart beat that
probably would go undetected otherwise.
