This proposal outlines a music video for the song "Ex's and Oh's" by Elle King. It will tell the story of a woman feeling trapped by her insecurities and past relationships. There will be three locations: a studio for performance shots, a cemetery to represent her past haunting her, and an airport to show her desire to escape her problems by running away. A variety of camera angles, quick editing, and changes between low key, high key, and natural lighting will be used. Props like beer bottles, candles, photos, and a suitcase will help convey the story and message of the song.

Ex's and Oh's Music Video Proposal
1. Elle King – Ex’s and Oh’s
Proposal
By Oliver, Shannon and Kirsty
2. Storyline
A woman who is fantasising about
her insecurities and is feeling
trapped. By using “Lovers” as a
metaphor for society we are hoping
to create a music video that can
show her being trapped by not pass
lovers but by society and how it
treats her and she feels like its
creeping up on her
3. Location
We will have 3 locations in our music video which consist of:
Studio
In the studio we are going to be filming the majority of the lip syncing
shots and performance shots. We are doing this because it will be a
suitable location for the performance aspects of the music video.
Cemetery
The cemetery will be used as it coincides with the story line of her being
haunted by her past boyfriends. This is a suitable location because the
graves signify her past and wanting to keep it buried.
We are going to be filming her become deranged and the downfall of her
sanity.
Airport
The airport is going to be used to show her high expectations of people.
The plane will also show her running away from her problems. We are
filming a part of the song which is about her running away from ex
boyfriends. We believe this will be an effective location as it resembles
moving on.
4. Mise-En-Scene
The outfits in the music video will range from everyday
outfits to glamourous party wear, this is to show her
almost having different personalities and that maybe she
is trapped in her mind rather than by society
The lighting in the music video will be high-key to start
to establish who she is and the brand we are creating in
order to attract a larger audience and this then allows
for people to know who we are and what we are
creating.
5. Camera Angles
Longshots
Close up
Pan
Extreme close up
High angle
Low angle
Point of View
Birds eye view
Pull focus
Extreme longshot
Mid-shot
Establishing shot
6. Editing
Each clip will be quick and snappy because if they are
too long people will not want to watch but of they last
about 1-3 seconds they having the audiences attention
for a lot longer.
We will be aiming to get on beat editing as there is onne
specific point in our song that will be great for this, we
are hoping to film the girl lighting candles on “one, two,
three” and drinking different drinks as the line is
repeated 3 times
7. Lighting
Our music video will have a range of low key lighting,
high key lighting and natural lighting. Whiles filming in
the studio we will change between having low key
lighting that we only slightly control to having high key
lighting to show that she is on stage and performing
The low key lighting will be to establish that they girl is
just a normal girl who lives an everyday life and this is
shown through the studio where we only use standard
lights to light up the seen
Natural lighting will be used whiles filming at the grave
yard as we don’t have any control of lighting and will not
be using lights for outsides apart from a small torch to
shine above the camera to pick up the specific light
