Who is the core
buyer of my
magazine?
The primary audience of my magazine is aimed towards are
a young, unisex teen audience to young adults that are aged
towards 16-25 with an open appeal to all ethnicities and
have an interest in the rock and metal genre within the
context of a music magazine, and my secondary audience
are a unisex audience composing of young adults to middle
aged adults of 26-32 years of age with an interest in the rock
and metal genre in the context of music.
What is the socio
economic code of my
target audience?
A socio-economic group is a minority group with a pattern of
interests divided from the population. The purpose of a
socio-economic group is to divide the majority of people into
minority groups so that it is easier to advertise and appeal
to a primary audience.
The primary socio-economic groups I aim my music
magazine towards fit under the codes of C2 and D.
The individuals that fit under the code of C2 are skilled
manual workers; carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.
The Individuals that fit under the code of D are semi-
skilled and unskilled manual workers; drivers, post
sorters, labourers, etc.
The individuals within my secondary audience fit under
the code of C1 which are office workers, junior
managers office clerks, bank clerks, nurses, etc.
What is the psychographic profiling of
your target audience?
A psychographic profile is a pattern or collection of interests a certain
socio-economic group may have. My primary target audience are
seen as strugglers and aspirers who are young and wish to travel
towards gigs and festivals and they do this by already having a
driving license and a car to get to festivals and gigs around the
country. They also like to drink and to drink lots at festivals and gigs.
My primary target audience require funding to be able to use their
cars and to buy what they like and so they have a job that involves
retail or manual labor such as a job in retail such as McDonalds as
an example. My primary target audience also like to be able to listen
to music on their travels in their car and so will have a either a radio
or a music player which they will play downloaded music from their
phone of their favorite bands and singles. They are seen as
escapists and usually play video games, read books and watch
action, fantasy and horror films to entertain the imagination and wish
to listen to music that plays on their imagination as a method to relax
when they listen to music. My target primary audience will also be
very much into rock and metal within the context of music as my
primary target audience enjoy that genre of music. My primary target
audience will also wear merchandise of their interests from music to
films and film to video games made from popular companies and
would be referred to as “geeks”.
How has my knowledge been
implemented in my magazine?
Within my magazine I have implemented this information by
making my magazine relate to my audience, one of these
conventions is to use a young person as the same age as the
primary audience (16-25) as the main feature on a rock
magazine and I chose a young person as my primary
audience can relate to the age of the person in the imagery
which will catch their attention, I also had my subject look
directly into the camera as that is conventional as other pre
existing magazines have done the same to establish a
personal intimate relationship between the reader and the
image which my primary audience likes as they feel included
and therefore encouraged to read head in the magazine. I
have also established that my magazine will include existing
and well known artists and bands such as Minerva and Slash
which fit convention as my primary audience expect to see
bands and artists within my magazine. I have also established
that my magazine will contain information on the latest
festivals and this year which will appeal to my primary
audience as they like to go out to these festivals .
In my contents page I have
implemented my knowledge by
going into slightly more detail on the
established existing bands in my
magazine which fits convention as
my primary audience like the
existing bands in the rock genre. I
have also went into more detail and
included even more festivals and
gigs into my magazine which my
primary audience will like as they
want to know where to go to these
gigs and festivals, and I have even
more images of my main attraction
to my magazine which is my main
interview. I have included an editors
note to further reinforce that
personal inclusion for my primary
audience to encourage them to read
more into the magazine.
I have implemented my
knowledge into my
double page spread by
using a casual tone
within the interview
using slang so that the
interview feels natural
to the primary audience
so the feel included in
the interview as my
primary audience can
identify easily with the
interview. I have also
used imagery once
again of my subject to
catch the audience
attention to read this
article.
