Doug McGill, a former reporter, published a story about the Anuak genocide in Ethiopia because no other news sources were reporting on it. Through months of research, McGill reported that hundreds of Anuak tribe members were killed by Ethiopian soldiers, contradicting the government's claim of only dozens killed in tribal violence. McGill could not eyewitness the events or post in mainstream media like the Times due to lacking eyewitnesses. However, his story was later confirmed by Genocide Watch after their own research.

Being a respected business professional and educator, Jeffery D Whippo explains disinformation. According to him, it is the deliberate spread of misleading information designed to deceive. There is spread of two forms of wrong information: misinformation and disinformation. Where misinformation is false information, without any intent to mislead, disinformation includes manipulative narrative or facts. Thus, it is knowingly spreading misinformation. He quotes that disinformation was used way back in 1986 when Ronald Reagan Administration in US used it against the Libyan dictator.
Galtung And Ruges
Galtung and Ruge developed categories to analyze what factors make international news stories more likely to be reported. Some of the key factors they identified include negativity, proximity, recency, continuity, uniqueness, simplicity, personality, expectedness, prominence of nations or people involved, exclusivity, and size of the story. Higher scores across these categories mean a story has a greater chance of being picked up and screened by the news media.

Media hoaxes are deliberately fabricated falsehoods that are spread through mass media channels. One of the most famous media hoaxes was Orson Welles' 1938 radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds, which convinced some listeners that Martians had actually invaded Earth. Informative speech on George Stinney Jr.
A. Info research analysis
The general purpose of the speech was to inform people about the civil injustice being done against the African American community in the United States. The specific purpose of the speech was to portray to the audience how an innocent 14-year old black boy suffered in the hands of the South Carolina State law enforcing officers. He was falsely accused of killing two white girls and electrocuted within two months after conviction.
I decided the topic of my speech after perusing through all the suggested topics ad found that the story of George Stinney Jr. was touching and emotional entirely.
This topic benefits the audience and the society in general by giving them an insight of the cruelty that the American law system has against the African American community. The audience gets to know how the shady investigations were done with claims that George had pleaded guilty to the charges of murder when there was no real evidence tying him to the crime or a signed plea agreement.
The alternative view that I found in the research was the version of the investigating officer of the case who claimed that the 14-year old boy managed to kill two girls aged 11 and 7 with a blunt object and ditch them in a nearby trench. This alternative point of view did not make sense because it is hard for a 14-year old boy to use the force that was reported by postmortem results to kill the girls. Therefore, I knew everything was a lie and I had to take the point of view of George’s innocence.

- 1. Chapter 9 Case Studies By: The Ethical Elephants
- 2. Case Study 9-D: Summary Doug McGill, a former reporter, decided to publish a story about the Anuak genocides. He did this because there were no stories written about that genocide. There was only one press release that came out by Ethiopian government that said there were only dozens of deaths due to tribal violence. The truth was, however, that it was the uniformed Ethiopian soldiers going house to house killing hundreds of the Anuak tribe. McGill only had ear witnesses and was not there to actually see what was happening. McGill published this story after months of researching and his story was picked up by Genocide Watch and they confirmed that his story was true.

- 4. Ethical Dilemmas How do you verify a story without any eye witnesses or being able to see the event for yourself? Because he did not have any eyewitnesses, he could not post it in the Times. How you do verify something off of someone’s blog, especially when there are no mainstream news sources reporting on it? Anuak genocide was overshadowed by the Sudan Civil War, and that is why it was so overlooked by mainstream media. US media under reports on events that do not happen within the US borders.

Why was it a blogger in southern Minnesota who finally broke the story?
- 7. Case Study 9-F: Summary BET ran a short cartoon video called Read a Book and it encouraged reading, good hygiene, responsible parenting, and wise use of money. However, the crunk style video was obscene and used various curse words with obscenities. While some viewers saw it as satire of rap culture while being educational, others called it inappropriate and disrespectful.

- 10. Ethical Frameworks Ross Duty to nurture Utilitarianism Did the video make people want to read? Did the video have a positive effect? Creator of the video says that it did. Video could harm certain people but overall has a positive effect on its audience.

Should satire be used in a pro-social way such as a public service announcement? Why or why not? 3. How does the fact that this message was intended for children change the rules about what is allowable and what is ethically questionable?
