Q3. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
• Within the media institution there are many types of
distributors, depending on the budget of the film.
There are big major companies or low budget
  independent films.
BIG MAJOR DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES
• These are a list of some major distribution companies and
production companies. Audience members may be able to
recognise the popular companies, such as Warner Brothers,
Pixar or 20th century fox, as films with big budgets could use a
company like this to ensure there product is successful.

• Films that tend to have a major distribution company are
often a success. As a film would go to cinemas either
nationally or internationally. Furthermore after being at the
cinema for a while it would then get dispersed shops to sell
merchandise either DVD or soundtrack ect.

• However films with a low budget would use an other
  independent small companies.
LOW BUDGET INDEPENDENT
•
• Films that have a low budget tend to use a small
localised distribution and production company, as it
best fits their needs. Although small independent
companies may not be recognised, they still are able
to do well distributing the film into a world, where
  the competition is high.
• Through reaching out to the public, by using various
  methods. The strategy several independent
companies use its simply understanding the genre
and target audience. In doing so many independent
films have become a success regardless of its budget.
In our thriller film we decided to use an independent
production company; Assano Productions and the
distribution company Dragonfly Pictures. The independent
companies are London based offering a cinematic release;
• able to offer
• a cinematic release
• 250 DVD release
• online release on vimeo
• Buzz of social media (through the power of the internet).
… A CINEMANTIC RELEASE
250 DVD RELEASES
ONLINE RELEASE ON VIMEO
THE POWER OF THE INTERNET
• As our film is a low budget film, I decided to use a small London
  based independent company.
• The smaller localized distribution, know how to create a

                            or a sense of

With the young online audience. By creating the buzz effect it created
an instant viral alertness of the film. Through the usage of the internet
it was a more effective way to reach our young audience, therefore
relating to our target audience.
