Paper One: People of color
Why do people think just by passing laws that the issues are resolved? Lauryn Hill is an African
American legend who was born in South Orange, New Jersey. She is famous for her wonderful
music and her marvelous poems. Ms. Hill is very multi talented, due to her singing, writing, and
guitar skills. Ms. Hill wrote one of her famous poems called Mystery of Iniquity. Her poem
Mystery of Iniquity was about her critique of the criminology of criminal justice system. The
poem Mystery of Iniquity was written May 7, 2008, and made a huge effect of African Americans.
During the 2008 era black people were moving on up toward victory because we had our first
African American president Barack Obama.
A reoccurring theme is the idea of iniquity. Iniquity is defied as a lack of fairness or justice. Rosa
park is a perfect example of the definition iniquity. Rosa is an activist who had to give up her seat
an educated black woman to a white man on a public bus. She was treated with an unfair lack of
justice. People of color have been discriminated all of their lives due to the fact that they are
born darker then others. Black people get discriminated against every day because we are always
being accused of breaking the law when in reality we really are not doing anything. People of
color have no justice when it comes to the law. Black people has been treated fairly when it comes
to anything. People of

Female Characters In Othello Essay
. Examine the female characters in the play. Do they share a common role in Othello? Every
woman in Othello are very important to the plot and drama. Even the premise of Othello is about
one man wanting to destroy another for a Woman. The Woman that Cassio and Roderigo want in
the story is Desdemona, even though she is with Othello. While Desdemona may seem a two
dimensional character, she is takes the initiate several times and is the moral center to the story.
She also comes across as open minded considering that she loved Othello despite him being a
different race which was often a big deal breaker for the time. The other femalecharacters are also
important to the story. Emilia Is a character who had no clue that Cassio intentions... Show more

She sees her family as backwards and ignorant for not going to school or embracing their
heritage. She defiantly sees herself as being better than the rest of her family and while she may
still love them she does not respect them. This would give the story an angrier tone that would
only limit the story to one point of view. One could tell that the story would be this way because
her actions from the book such as when Dee gasps, arguing that Maggie won t appreciate the
quilts and isn t smart enough to preserve them . This show how little she thinks of Maggie. If the
story was told through Maggie s perspective that we would see through the eyes of someone who is
nervous but happy to see her sister. We would be able to get a better sense of her jealous for Dee as
well as how she felt by Dee not wanting her to have the quills. Hakim a barber is the least fleshed
out character in the story. If we saw the event from his perspective we would see his first
impressions of the family as well as how he feels about the way Dee acted while they were there.

Adderall Term Paper
While Adderall withdrawal is more likely when someone takes higher doses of the drug, it can
happen to anyone. This brand name drug is a blend of dextroamphetamine and amphetamine.
Medically, it is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHA), hyperactivity and
narcolepsy.
Even if the Adderall was prescribed by a doctor, it can still lead to Adderall withdrawal symptoms.
Over time, the body and mind become used to having Adderall present. When someone suddenly
stops using, they can end up crashing. The individual may experience symptoms like depression,
insomnia and sluggishness.

Virtual Child Observation
Being responsible for the life of another human being can be a little frightening or overwhelming.
Whether the child is real life or, in this case, a virtual child, every single decision made is crucial
for the development of the child s life. Throughout the journey of raising Everett, my virtual son, I
was exposed to a whole new world. I learned so much about the process of teaching and nurturing
a child. It not only is about the love and compassion you give a child, but the discipline and
leadership a parentdemonstrates as well. Though these factors contribute greatly to the development
of your child, the way your child behaves and acts is ultimately their decision. Over the virtual life
of Everett, I was faced with many troubling and difficult... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the age of eight months, Everett began showing some fearfulness around unfamiliar
people and clung to whoever was holding him at the time. The text defines this as stranger
anxiety the caution and wariness displayed by infants when encountering an unfamiliar person
(Feldman 2013). Between the ages of 6 and 9 months, infants are trying to make sense of the
world around them. When face to face with a stranger, they experience fear. My decision was to
hold Everett and allow him to warm up slowly to the stranger. I knew that this was normal at his
age and did not want to cause him to be any more frightened. Other than him being fussy at times,
Everett was a fairly easy baby. Despite his cautiousness of new people, he adapted rather quickly
to friendly people. He always made eye contact and vocalized. As Everett reached the age of 18
months, I began taking him to participate in new activities and meet new children and adults. I
figured the variety of experiences would be stimulating and, in the long run, help him warm up
to people easier. At this point, Everett was becoming more and more independent and talkative.
He only had about ten words he said on a regular basis, so I decided that it was a good time to
begin working with him with expanding his vocabulary and communication skills. Everett loved
to point at objects and have me tell them what they were. It was like a little game! At the age of
two years old, I began to notice that Everett was developing self awareness. One article states,
Awareness involves a unification of several stimuli into an awareness of one unitary content
(Kriegel, 2009). In this case, that would be the self. He displayed characteristics of having self
awareness by smiling in pictures, looking guilty when he made an uh oh! , and even showing
embarrassment while potty training. I began working with Everett to doing things like brush his

Criterion-Related Validity Essay
In this post, I will examine the relationship between SATs scores and student success in college
through the lens of criterion validity. Since currently Higher Education institutions are focusing on
ranking, now, more than ever, admissions requirements are becoming more strict, and heavier
weight is being placed on SAT scores as a way determining quality students. Currently, SAT scores
are used to determine whether a student will be successful in college. This shift is causing a great
push to identify students of risk, and for more elite institutions, who should be admitted (Chronicle
of Higher Education, 2017). Do to this shift, there is great emphasis placed on the SATs as an
indicator of college success. The question that many student affairs professionals and educational
leaders ask are, does this test accurately measure and show a relationship between test scores and
outcomes?

In the context of Higher Education and its reliance on the SATs as a predictor to determine the fate
of many student s paths, it is important to know that the this standardized test scores accurately
measure what we say they measure.
Some things to consider about using this test to measure student success...does it account for
aspects of social capital (Yosso s Model) and its influence on how a student may interrupt a
question? Does this standardized test have a way of understanding the multiple aspects of a student
s identity that influences the way they perceive and interpret questions? Does it account for the
financial aspect of paying for tutoring? The SATs do give institutions the ability to anticipate a
student s success, but it certainly does not measure the academic

Theme Of Marriage In Canterbury Tales
Spousal Scammers
Over 50 percent of marriages end in divorce in the United States, a number which has only been
rising throughout the past years. Marriages end in cheating and separation frequently, so much
that the United States has become accustomed to it, but does it have to be this way? Canterbury
Tales is a collection of tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer that were told by traveling pilgrims on
their way to Canterbury. The tales are told by people of varying occupations and social status, and
focus on different morals, one of the most prevalent being the roles of husbands and wives in
marriage. By juxtaposing marriages of infidelity with those of loyalty, Chaucer satirizes the 14th
century ideals of marriage by showing that relationships based on control drive women to cheat,
while relationships built on love and mutual trust ultimately flourish.
In The Merchant s Tale , a very controlling husband loses his wife to a young man who easily wins
her over, a common theme throughout the Canterbury Talesthat Chaucer uses to warn readers
about unhealthy relationships. Chaucer frequently refers to wives throughout these tales as
property, saying To take a wife is an excellent thing, / especially when a man is old and grey; / Then
she s the best part of his property (314). January from The Merchant s Tale takes a wife On
whom he may beget a son and heir for exactly that reason only (314). He has rapacity for his land
and money and wants it to go to a son. When he

Fibromyalgia is hell on earth for the millions of those suffering around the world, and while there
is finally new research into this insidious disease, many questions remain unanswered. For instance
fibromyalgia was labeled as fibrositis, (First labeled by Gowers in 1904), and later rheumatism, etc,
until the American College of Rheumatology agreed in 1990 to diagnostic criteria, (11 or more
specific tender points throughout body.)
What causes fibromyalgia? The history of fibromyalgia is truly very sad as this disease although
very old has only recently received the attention needed to find the cause. Additional historical facts
regarding fibromyalgia include:
1) Historically fibromyalgia has been considered either a neuropsychiatric or musculoskeletal
condition.
2) Additional early names for fibromyalgia included muscular rheumatism, psychogenic
rheumatism, and neurasthenia among others.
3) The term fibromyalgia came from researcher Mohammed Yunis as a synonym for fibrositis, and
was first used in 1981.
4) In 1987 an article first used

The year was 1275 of the Third Age when the dark sorcerer Mondain and his students slew
Emperor Vaserd Atridius and his entire line of heirs; leaving the northern empire of Budalia in

Clerics and healers from all over Sosaria and the neighboring isles have come to see him, but
magic can only do so much for what ails him. His eldest heir, whom he groomed from birth to
take his place, obviously lays dead. His second eldest who marched to fight alongside his
countrymen in Nostora, Lanner, has recently been presumed missing when his encampment was
raided in the night over two months ago. This leaves poor, mild mannered Travan, the youngest

the typical fair for a Belawain.
Despite this, my liege would rather that his own line takes the throne in the event of his death

visit with his subjects when he can and strengthening the resolve of his people. Jorvan, on the
other hand, is a foppish git who runs a backwoods town and thinks himself to be the proper heir to
an entire bloody kingdom. In truth, these traits would make for an excellent successor to any king,

Power In Stephen Frears Film, The Queen And Shakespeare s...
Power is the ability to manipulate and control whatever one desires, to do what one pleases to
do, without answering to authority. Political authority and power play an extensive role in both
Stephen Frears Film, The Queen and Shakespeare s play, King Lear. Frears explores the theme of
power through, Queen Elizabeth II, a hardline traditionalist who is blinded by old world protocols
and traditions all but failing to see the transfer in balance of power. Similarly, Shakespeare
explores the theme through the protagonist Lear, a king fascinated with grand showings of his
sovereignty by staging and arranging situations that praise his ego. The very nature of power is in
fact hazardous and has the ability to devour those who wield it,... Show more content on

The emotive grandstanding language illustrates the dynamic prominence of exercising power
imprudently and in haste. However, in contrast to The Queen, Lear s transference of political
authority to his daughters is on the prerequisite of flattery with an over exaggerated speech which
must appeal and appease his ego: Which of you shall we say doth love us most, that we our largest
bounty may extend. (Act 1.1.45 50) Lear s actions have afforded his daughters the opportunity to
take advantage of him. This strengthens Shakespeare s theme of power, that authority is nothing
more than a show and a display of status through language and verbal praise.
In addition, Frears demonstrates the fragility of power and where leadership is vehement when
Princess Diana is killed. The Queen loses some informal authority torn between old world
protocols and customs, remarking that, This isn t a matter of state, it s a private matter. The
Queen does not want to join the public in mourning, she wants to keep it separate. Her cold aloof
persona displays a woman trapped between two eras and as such fails to see what is happening
around her. She is naГЇve and out of touch,

Personal Finance Midterm Analysis
Personal Finance Midterm
Having financial goals is very important. I personally have three goals that are important to me.
Following a budget is something I want to follow for the rest of my life. I think it is important
to have a budget so you can manage and control the money you spend. Right now, I don t have
very much to budget, but soon I will be taking loans out for school and hopefully getting a stable
job. To complete this goal, I plan on making a budget each month and stick with it. Another
financial goal of mine is to start an emergency fund. I chose this goal because I think it is important
to be ready for anything. In my case I would want around two thousand dollars in mine. For this to

less than she earns. I think this strategy is smart because if you always spend less than you earn
you will always have some money left over, hopefully if I start now by doing this I will have good
spending habits down the road.
My ideal job is to become a registered nurse. I like the idea of becoming a nurse because it means I
get to do one of my favorite things which is help people. The world will always need nurses and
doctors so with a nursing degree I will always have a place to work. A registered nurse makes
around 60,000 a year. To achieve this I, must continue going to school and start focusing on
classes that will help me in this career field. Something else that I want to do is an internship
program at a hospital or something so I can get a feel on what it s like to be an actual nurse.
My credit score is basically none existent right now because I don t have any credit cards or loans
out right now. But in the future, I plan on having good credit for the rest of my life. I m going to

I Don t A Good President
When friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don t
understand the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald
Trump has never been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind.
He s never had to broker political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running
for president. With no experience in politics at all, why would people think he d make a good
president? Sure, Donald Trumpis a barefaced self promoter and experienced businessman. But
people don t realize all of the mistakes he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a
type of Wall Street or anything for him to lose money or make some reckless decisions that
would put our country into a deeper hole that we are already into, and also getting multiple
things done within the nation s capital takes more than a huge personality and a strong will. If
Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he ll have to quickly learn how to deal with his
Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He ll also have to get used to
the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate pretty quickly and
also where things can move extremely slow at times. He ll also have to get used to giving speeches
on topics he may not be interested in, especially when it comes to conversations dealing with

Module two highlighted the need for a greater understanding of how to recognize terrorism and
what resources can be utilized to strengthen communities. A strong capability to perform hazard and

When stakeholders use the combined tools and guidance such as the NRF and the CPG 101,
better measures can be taken to improve a community s preparedness level and reduce the risks
associated with a terrorist attack. The NRF and CPG 101 are two parts to a larger arsenal of
federal guidance that is provided by FEMA. One key element to maximizing the effectiveness of
plans and planning tools is the incorporation of an assessment processes. Key assessment processes
should include the following steps to be successful:
1.Identify the list of hazards and threats that may impacts a community.
2.Utilize a scenario to describe the hazards and threats and show how they may impact a
community.
3.Conduct an assessment on each hazard and threat to determine a measurable benchmark to
achieve a basic level of capability. Define the capability target or goal.
4.Determine the resources required to reach the capability target based on current (available)
resources and assets.

Assessment or THIRA. THIRA is a leading step by step methodology to help communities
determine where planning gaps exist in the identification and management of hazards. The heart of
THIRA is its simple structure that allows communities to identify desired outcomes, determine
capability targets, and apply resources to help meet those targets. FEMA describes

History and Development of Accounting
Accounting is defined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as the art
of recording, classifying, and summarizing in a significant manner and in terms of money,
transactions and events which are, in part at least, of financial character, and interpreting the results
thereof.
Accounting is thousands of years old; the earliest accounting records, which date back more than
7,000 years, were found in Mesopotamia (Assyrians). The people of that time relied on primitive
accounting methods to record the growth of crops and herds. Accounting evolved, improving over
the years and advancing as business advanced.

Each administrator on each sub division of the estate drew up his own little accounts, for the day

Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc
Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in
regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines
alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem,
Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature
and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can
truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance
with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc
seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont
Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful
but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and
then asks how that influences the creative human mind.
Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and
bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also
receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by
memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one
of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Wordsworth

Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Dark matter and dark energy are two entities that have very little known about them, except that
they make up about 95 percent of the universe. Even though this is a large part of the universe, it
wasn t even thought about until the 1960 s or the 1970 s. This is because of the fact that it is very
hard to detect and almost impossible to see. Although it is impossible to see, we can see the effects
of them both in our galaxy. One way that we can see the dark matteris the movement of the Milky
WayGalaxy. While studying the Milky Way, scientists noticed that the outer rings of the galaxy
were moving at the same speed as the inner rings ( Dark Energy, Dark Matter , n.d.) . This may
seem normal, but, due to the law of gravity, the outer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
MACHO s may be neutron stars, black holes, or brown dwarfs. The reason why they think that
MACHO s may be dark matter is because neutron stars and black holes are big enough to cause
the gravitational changes, but the downside to these theories is that, both neutron stars and black
holes are caused because of supernovae, which are not common occurrences, and they should put
off high amounts of energy and elements, but there aren t any signs of these things in sufficient
amounts in the halos of galaxies. but it could also be the MACHO brown dwarf, which are stars
that are one eighth of the mass of the sun. Astronomers have found brown dwarfs around other
stars and planets, but there isn t any evidence of large enough clusters to cause the gravitational
changes caused by dark matter. Dark matter could also be WIMP s, which are subatomic particles
that aren t made out of regular matter. These could be neutralinos, axions, and neutrinos. Neutrinos
were originally thought to not have mass, but in 1998, a neutrino was found that has mass, but it
doesn t have enough mass to contribute to dark matter. Axions may have small amounts of mass,
but it is stated that there would be large amounts of it that were made by the big bang. They are
now searching for axion particles in our solar system s halo and in the sun. Neutralinos are particles

How Does Bradbury Use Figurative Language In A Sound Of...
Imagine traveling back to a world where dinosaurs still exist and there is an opportunity to go and
hunt them. A Sound of Thunder, by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction story that follows the life of
a man named Eckles who gets the chance to go back and hunt the dinosaurs, but for some reason he
cannot pull the trigger. Throughout the story, Bradbury uses literary devices such as stream of
consciousness, foreshadow, and figurative language to engage the reader.
To paint a picture of what is happening in the story, and keep the story interesting, the author uses
stream of consciousness. Before the hunting party leaves to go to the past, Travis, the guide, talks
to Eckels about the importance of staying on the path they will walk, Eckels then realizes how a
small change can make a difference in the course of time. Bradbury then convinces the readers that

For example, Bradbury is explaining when the hunting group goes back in time. ВЁThe Machine
howled. Time was a film running backward,ВЁ(p. 4). The figurative language spices up the story
and compares the event to things that you can imagine. Later in the story, the T rex comes out and
there is a terrifying description. ВЁAnd from the from the great breathing cage of the upper body

while the snake neck coiled,ВЁ(p. 10). The similes that the author includes make the book more
interesting and relatable like how humans see toys are how dinosaurs see humans. To sum up,
Bradbury s figurative language engages the reader and puts everything into

Analysis Of The Poem Caged Bird By Maya Angelou
The poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou tells the story of two birds: one bird has the luxury of
freedom and the second bird lives its life caged and maltreated by an unknown tyrant. Maya
Angelou wrote this poem during the Civil Rights Era, the period when black activists in the 1950
s and 1960 s fought for desegregation of African Americans. This poem parallels the oppression
that African Americans were fighting during this time period. In Caged Bird , Angelou builds a
strong contrast that shows the historical context of discrimination and segregation through the use
of mood, symbolism, and theme. The mood of Caged Bird changes drastically from stanza to
stanza. Angelou s specific diction choices help to reflect the change from being positive to
negative with some elements of hope involved. The parts of the poem involving the free bird
provide the reader with a feeling of self government. In contrast, the mood associated with the caged
bird is confinment. Despite the negative mood tied to the caged bird there are still elements of
hope woven into these stanzas. The first stanza of the poem introduce the free bird. Angelou uses
words such as leaps . . . and floats (Line 1 3) in description of this character s movements. These
actions relate directly to moving without restrictions. The words leaped and floats are contradicted
immediately in the second stanza as Angelou brings the caged bird into the picture. Angelou uses
diction that complements confinement

Examining Vasari s Hatred For Byzantine Art
Over time, conventions in the recording of history change, always shaped by their surrounding
sociocultural context. Today, a significant part of a historian s work is the ability to remain
unbiased, always careful to acknowledge personal background. Considering contemporary norms, it
s surprising to read such a heavily biased account of history; Vasari fully embraces his ideology of
what art is supposed to be, arguing that artistic perfection is defined as indistinguishable imitation
of nature. Throughout these prefaces Vasari demonstrates his hatred for Byzantine art, describing it
as a period of artistic decay, and references the abandonment of stylised Byzantine absurdities found
in Gothic art (88). For Vasari, anything which is not naturalistic is dismissed as poor art, no matter
what the social context and aim of the original... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he describes his reasoning for delineating art history in three volumes, he states that for
painting and sculpture of former times, they must have developed on such similar lines that the
that the history of one could stand for the history of the other with only a change in their names
(85). As he draws comparisons and explains why this assertion makes sense, he dismisses early
Greek classical art as low quality and undeveloped. In doing so, he continues to equate it with the
first period of Renaissance art, but lacks the warmth and context he gives artists like Giotto.
While early Greek sculptures are simply described as hard and lifeless, Vasari notes that first
period Renaissance art contains glimmerings of excellence (85, 89). Possibly due to a type of
cultural shame, he needs to reinforce how much praise this art deserves in its innovation and
struggle against outdated

Glory In Oedipus At Colonus
In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power
relationship and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that
gods have over the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to
overthrow his predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipusat
Colonus, Sophoclesestablishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by
the higher power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of humanlife
becomes increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being
remembered by people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to
establish a purpose and meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced
upon him. Glory, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or
distinction extended by common consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction
or acknowledgement of his greatness by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy.
Despite the fact that the length and fate of one s life is predetermined by a power higher than
oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to leave behind a lasting impression on the world.
Oedipus self reflection on his fall from glory and fame serves to illustrate the consistently
unfortunate fate that many mortals are subject to. Before

My Perceptions Of The Environment And The Amount Of Control
Based on my responses to my perceptions of the environment and the amount of control I feel I
have, the VISA evaluation validated my perception about my leadership proficiencies. This
evaluation indicated a Dominance personality as a leader. According to my VISA profile there is a
strong emphasis on Vision and Action which echoes the dimensions that form my leadershipstyle.
Interdependence and Structure have been indicated to be the less developed areas in my
evaluation profile. This also confirms my perceptions as I find rigorous adherence to policies and
procedures sometimes stifling progress and my dominant preference of action approach resonance
with my desire to be goal oriented, action driven to achieve results and freedom to make quick
decisions. Having Vision couple with Action reaffirms my personality in a sense that I am future
orientated, love creativity and innovative thinking, and tends to seek unique accomplishments and
innovative solutions. I enjoy tackling varies activities and embrace a wide range of tasks. I am also
high in conscientiousness and tend to use a systematic approach on problem solving. When
working with others, I have a tendencyto be diplomatic and use an indirect approach to avoid

Descriptive Essay About Hockey
As I walk into the rink for hockey practice I often think about where it all began. I push open the
doors to the lobby, walk down the steps, and get the chills as i feel that familiar cool rink air
against my face. Just before walking into the locker room I ll take a quick glance over at the
freshly resurfaced sheet of ice. Knowing in the back of my head but not always thinking about
how much time i ve actually spent here my whole life. Quickly reminiscing all the years of hard
work and determination i ve put into this single sport, and how much i ve grown on and off the
ice. As i go into the locker room, the same locker room i ve always walked into after every
glorious win and heartbreaking loss, i can faintly hear the sound of laughter and the bass of the
music in the background, sometimes almost nervous as to what i m about to walk in to. I m
greeted by my teammates, already getting dressed for the upcoming practice, with big smiles on
their faces. Almost immediately feeling the intense vibe of the locker room, my heart rate increases
just thinking about getting on the ice. More times than most I find myself rushing to get ready due
to the fact that i get too caught up in talking with teammates. Sometimes i sit and get dressed in
silence because i have too much on my mind. But by the time i get on the ice all of the millions of
thoughts that are running through my mind throughout the day just fade away. To me that s the

Snape was slowly making his way up the stairs. He was preparing himself for what was about to

No, Snape said as he came up behind the Death Eaters. Dumbledore nodded as if giving him

Eaters killing them instantly. Harry stood there in shock at what he just saw. The spell they

Harry asked himself.
Draco laid there, his eyes filled with fear of what just happened. Draco Malfoy, said Dumbledore,

M6 Advantages And Disadvantages
M6 is the annotation given to the Air Defense version of the Bradley fighting vehicle. During the
1980s, at the height of the cold war coupled with the ever growing nuclear threat, the U.S. need to
insure the defense of ground forces and critical assets from aerial threats became ever so real.
Budgetary constraints placed a heavy burden on military planners as they fought congressional
committees for a solution to provide a mobile air defense platform. Dilapidated equipment and talks
of a Russian armored invasion of the U.S. mainland, created the inception of the Bradley Fighting
Vehicle. A vehicle designed to battle the Russian MBT (Main Battle Tank) T 80 in head to head

The M6 Bradley Linebacker served for just shy of a decade for the exact reasons mentioned
above. A seemingly good idea scrapped because of cost, underuse and truthfully the blatant
misunderstanding or miscalculation of the capabilities the system brings to mission success.
Nevertheless, during the early stages of the Iraq and Afghanistan war, the Linebacker saw use
as a multirole vehicle, providing security to Infantry units and over watch for Forward Operating
Bases. A plaque at the Fort Sill Air Defense Artillery Museum stated the following: Specifically
in 2005, while on route patrol, the Linebacker was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED).
The IED exploded and tore off the first three road wheels and all of the armor on the left side of

should buy their engagement ring. The engagement ring, specifically ones with diamonds, is an
interesting concept that is known as a widespread tradition. One compelling notion is that a person

truly considered engaged you would need to have a diamond. They also believe that diamonds are

emeralds and sapphires or semiprecious stone like ambers and pearls. The price of diamonds is
very high, and it can be higher depending on the company and quality of cut. A lot people are
worried that a lot of diamonds used for the rings may be blood diamonds, also known as war s
diamond, which are diamonds that have been mined during war, so some claims that their
diamond came from another source such as a lab. The idea that diamonds are worth a lot of
money is highly debatable because of how they are processed. Are diamonds even worth the cost?
There are a lot of studies dealing with diamonds and the diamond trade. Most of the studies focus
mostly on one aspect of the diamond trade while other show multiple parts of the diamond trade.

Natural Disaster In Bangladesh
1.Introduction
The number of natural disaster is increasing over the years and its impact to the economy and
environment has increased remarkably. Flood disaster is a major threat to the environment and is
responsible for the economic loss worldwide. Flood frequency, magnitude, extent and cost is
accelerating quickly all over the world (Adjei darko, 2017). A single major floodevent can affect
several countries simultaneously and can pressure on risk reduction and transfer (Jongman et
al., 2014). According to the outcome of Aqueduct Global Flood Risk Analyzer launched by the
US based World Resource Institute (WRI), flooding affects 21 million people annually and it
could rise to 54 million by 2030 and the GDP loss is 96 billion $ in each year and it could be 521
billion $ by 2030 (Dutch water sector, 2005). Different sectors of Bangladesh also suffer a huge
amount of loss due to regular flood inundation that impacts on countries budget through the
disruption of economic activity (Hussain Shan, 2010; JГјssi, 2015). In Bangladesh, about 3.5
million people are annually affected by the flood and it can rise to 9.8 million per year by 2030.
Annual GDP loss is 5.5 billion $ and by 2030 it can rise 45.8 billion $ (WRI, 2017). Economic
disruption may rise more than 1 trillion $ annually and flood frequency may be double because of
adverse climate and socio economic development by 2050 (Jongman et al., 2014). More than 8
million people affected by flood in 2017 which caused death

1932 Social Melodrama I Was Born But Analysis
In Yasijuro Ozu s 1932 social melodrama, I Was Born But..., it s use of mise en scene works
well to describe the characters lives at home, as well as the tone of an economically depressed

How To Become A Writer
I have been asked what exactly I am doing with this blog, by several readers.
I am getting warmed up for now, working on my voice, working at the practice of writing. I have
always kicked around the idea of writing a memoir, but I struggle with discipline, structure, and
framing. I am hoping to gain clarity and direction as I write and share. The response from friends,
family, and the public is fueling my momentum. I am grateful to be welcomed into a community of
writers and readers. The last time I was part of a writing community I was attending a magnet high

What s going on, you guys?
I was in a ratty burgundy recliner that day, a coveted spot. I had fallen asleep as had several
others, on couches, leaning against one another. Many of them went to the same, New Haven high
school. They went around the room, all complaining of late nights spent studying for their
semester finals, some up until two in the morning. My school was on a different exam schedule.
As everyone chimed in, I knew my silence would be noted. I planned on claiming I was sleepy
because of exams as well. None of them would have known. I did not want to lie about my home,
my childhood, my mother not one more time.
Brooke? Madeline and the class had set their eyes on me.
I sighed deeply. I was up until 4 last night. I stopped, maybe that was honest enough.
Exams? Madeline asked less formally, leaning forward in her chair.
No. My mom kept me up until four ish I thought of the growl in my mother s voice as she
threatened to make me quit the writing program. To her, it was another lever to bend me to her will.

Inner City Schools Vs Boarding Schools Essay
Based on the video, it is clear that the SEED school is a great institute that offers an amazing
opportunity to inner city children. Most inner city students do not graduate from high school or
even have a chance to pursue a higher education due to the detrimental public school systems
located in cities. Children who are more privileged have the option of attending boarding schools
that provide an exceptional educationfor students. However, these private or boarding schools have
an astronomical price tag associated with them. Unfortunately, a majority of inner city students who
have the potential to do great things cannot afford to attend these institutions. As a result, they are
unfairly subjected to the caustic education of inner city public schools. With the SEED school,
however, these students are given the chance to attend a boarding school that provides an effective
education and meets a higher standard for learning. What makes the SEED school so great is that
the cost of tuition is free, allowing students from poor households to attend. Moreover, the
affordability of this school does not interfere with the quality of education. Even though students are
paying nothing to attend, they still receive a very rigorous curriculum and have access to numerous
resources.

The SEED school provides the opportunity for students who normally would not be able to afford
private school to attend a boarding school. This gives more students the chance to learn at a higher
level and ultimately become better rounded individuals. With more inner city students receiving
the opportunity to attend more rigorous schools, it is likely that our society will produce more
educated individuals. Ultimately, our society would benefit as a whole if more schools were to

Roe V. Wade And Planned Parenthood Vs. Casey
Topic 1 Essay
Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey
Regardless of the opinions surrounding abortion, a majority of people are familiar with the
Supreme court cases of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. These two cases have
played a tremendous role in regard to the abortion debate. In 1973, the Roe v. Wadecase was ruled
in favour of Roe and stated the stringent criminalization of abortion in Texas was deemed
unconstitutional under the fourteenth amendment. The law violated the right of privacy, which
implied the privacy of a woman s decision to an abortion. Although the courts agreed with Roe, they
also recognized the rights to an abortion are not absolute. Limitations to the right was based on the
trimesters of pregnancy with the first trimester protecting the woman s choice and the third
trimester being acceptable for states to regulate or even ban abortions outside of therapeutic reasons.
In the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Casey fought against the state of Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Abortion Control act. The restrictions required the woman to give a written informed
consent, seek parental consent if she was a minor, and notify her husband if she married. With the
same violation of the fourteenth amendment as the Roe v. Wade case, the courts saw favour to
Casey. While the majority of the restrictions were supported by the courts, the requirement of the
husband s notification was not. The result of this case added support of the decision of Roe

Partition Reimbursement Analysis
In addition to monetary compensation, the benefits offered by varying companies are often taken
into consideration when job candidates are weighing their different job options. When an
organization offers excellent benefits, candidates are willing to take less in monetary
compensation for the comfort provided by certain benefits. For example, extended maternity and
paternity leave options, paid or partially paid, attract and retain young workers who plan to build
a family in the near future. While you can t expect every organization to offer full pay during an
extended time off to raise a family, knowing that your organization will provide some kind of
support is reassuring during this time where families often rely on the pay of both spouses. Other
nations have already enacted legislation that requires extensive maternity leave; such as Israel who
provides women with twelve months with 100 percent pay (Pynes, 2013). Currently, the United
States only requires twelve weeks of unpaid leave. If certain organizations were to offer
substantially better benefits, their desirability to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many working individuals don t have the time, money, or motivation to return to school after
already finding a job; however, it would be helpful for the individual organizations if they offered a
plan that would provide financial support for their employees who chose to further their education
in order to play a greater role in their organization. Due to the fact that tuition reimbursement isn t
universal in the United States, the companies that choose to offer this type of benefit would
appear more desirable for those who are looking to work their way up in a company. Providing
tuition reimbursement shows that organizations are willing to invest in loyal employees, while
also proving that they are willing to provide those who work hard a way to move up in the

My Reflective Essay Writing
Before this semester, my essay writing would have been considered rather poor. This was because I
did not understand the various components of a properly written and accompany them to
effectively communicate my ideas. I lacked the most in keeping the audience involved hence,
catching and maintaining their attention, to my writingfrom the introduction to the conclusion. To
me, writing was more complicated than a speech since a speech involved direct audience who
the speaker can gauge their feelings. I took writing as a difficult task since it involved indirect
audience and ensuring that I meet the demands of such indirect audience, brought more
confusion. Though the case, this past semester s class has really improved my skills in writing. I
have learned to to make an effective written piece. Through the various learning experiences such
as individual readings, professional feedback and many others, I have been able to interact with
diverse knowledge sources which have made me much better by removing the confusion and
negative picture I had with regard to writing. The first area of my improvement is on the
organization skills which I have gained, enabling me to develop an excellent structure for my
essays. In my first essays, I was struggling to build an introduction that would not only be clear to
the readers but also cultivate their interest to read the rest of the article. My introduction thus
appeared ambiguous and was very general as from the feedback I would regularly obtain from my
Instructor. Through engaging in regular essaywriting, this has really changed. This is evident in
my cause and effect essay where I was able to introduce the easy with a personal history of the
perception of the people with regard to the water they took At home, people subconsciously believe
that the water they drink, wash clothes with and bathe in is clean (Kulhahay 1, par. 1)
. I was able to place the audience to the issue I was addressing by giving their general view on
how they treat water contamination which was the subject of my writing. In this easy I was able to
introduce the readers to the controversy that had me to write the paper i.e. both leaving the water
untreated and treating it is a challenge as in

Compare And Contrast Snow White And Ravenna
By fairest blood it is done, by fairest blood it is undone Snow white and the huntsman is the
battle between beauty and innocence for fairest blood. This is a four star dark twist to the
traditional fairy tale of the orphaned princess, Snow White (Kristen Stewart), and her escape
from her step mother and evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). From the producers of Alice
and the Wonderland, An Evil Queen, Ravenna, tricks, seduces, and kills the king; she takes the
kingdom and rules with intimidation and magic. She draws her life force and youth from magic
which is fuelled by the draining of other beautiful young hearts and souls. Her life is to be the

Unlike the role she played in twilight, she has no other main characters to hold her up. She
drains the personality from Snow White in addition to the lack of importance felt in her
character. This is predominantly seen in the fight to the death scene with Snow White and
Ravenna. While Theron oozes fire and elegance, Stuart can t seem to capture a believable
character. Snow White is supposed to be innocence and humility in contrast to the Queens magic
and pride. Her sharp angled face, greasy voice, and empty facial expressions she was a flawed
choice by the directors. Drunk, bitter and half dead. The gorgeous Chris Hemsworth plays the in
between of life and death as the Huntsman. Once being a small point in the original brothers
Grimm fairy tale, Hemsworth s huntsman has created a new take on the contrast between the
two main roles. This is greatly shown when he is pulled out of a dirty tub of water with a
hangover and a debt and he is brought to the queen s throne. When the queen s guards draw
spears against him he says Do me the favour, I beg of you. He can t stand to be alive because the
Queens magic killed his wife for her youth. Finn tells the Huntsman She screamed your name but
you weren t there. Now you can beg her forgiveness in the other world. Now as Snow White lay
dead the Huntsman begs for forgiveness from her I m so sorry I failed you. I m

It not only is about the love and compassion you give a child, but the discipline and leadership a parentdemonstrates as well. Around the age of eight months, Everett began showing some fearfulness around unfamiliar people and clung to whoever was holding him at the time. The text defines this as stranger anxiety the caution and wariness displayed by infants when encountering an unfamiliar person (Feldman 2013). Between the ages of 6 and 9 months, infants are trying to make sense of the world around them. When face to face with a stranger, they experience fear. My decision was to hold Everett and allow him to warm up slowly to the stranger. I knew that this was normal at his age and did not want to cause him to be any more frightened. Other than him being fussy at times, Everett was a fairly easy baby. Despite his cautiousness of new people, he adapted rather quickly to friendly people. He always made eye contact and vocalized. As Everett reached the age of 18 months, I began taking him to participate in new activities and meet new children and adults. I figured the variety of experiences would be stimulating and, in the long run, help him warm up to people easier. At this point, Everett was becoming more and more independent and talkative. He only had about ten words he said on a regular basis, so I decided that it was a good time to begin working with him with expanding his vocabulary and communication skills. Everett loved to point at objects and have me tell them what they were. It was like a little game! At the age of two years old, I began to notice that Everett was developing self awareness. One article states, Awareness involves a unification of several stimuli into an awareness of one unitary content (Kriegel, 2009). In this case, that would be the self. He displayed characteristics of having self awareness by smiling in pictures, looking guilty when he made an uh oh! , and even showing embarrassment while potty training. Since currently Higher Education institutions are focusing on ranking, now, more than ever, admissions requirements are becoming more strict, and heavier weight is being placed on SAT scores as a way determining quality students. Currently, SAT scores are used to determine whether a student will be successful in college. This shift is causing a great push to identify students of risk, and for more elite institutions, who should be admitted (Chronicle of Higher Education, 2017). Do to this shift, there is great emphasis placed on the SATs as an indicator of college success. • 11. Theme Of Marriage In Canterbury Tales Spousal Scammers Over 50 percent of marriages end in divorce in the United States, a number which has only been rising throughout the past years. Marriages end in cheating and separation frequently, so much that the United States has become accustomed to it, but does it have to be this way? Canterbury Tales is a collection of tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer that were told by traveling pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. The tales are told by people of varying occupations and social status, and focus on different morals, one of the most prevalent being the roles of husbands and wives in marriage. By juxtaposing marriages of infidelity with those of loyalty, Chaucer satirizes the 14th century ideals of marriage by showing that relationships based on control drive women to cheat, while relationships built on love and mutual trust ultimately flourish. In The Merchant s Tale , a very controlling husband loses his wife to a young man who easily wins her over, a common theme throughout the Canterbury Talesthat Chaucer uses to warn readers about unhealthy relationships. Chaucer frequently refers to wives throughout these tales as property, saying To take a wife is an excellent thing, / especially when a man is old and grey; / Then she s the best part of his property (314). January from The Merchant s Tale takes a wife On whom he may beget a son and heir for exactly that reason only (314). He has rapacity for his land and money and wants it to go to a son. When he ... Political authority and power play an extensive role in both Stephen Frears Film, The Queen and Shakespeare s play, King Lear. Frears explores the theme of power through, Queen Elizabeth II, a hardline traditionalist who is blinded by old world protocols and traditions all but failing to see the transfer in balance of power. (Act 1.1.45 50) Lear s actions have afforded his daughters the opportunity to take advantage of him. This strengthens Shakespeare s theme of power, that authority is nothing more than a show and a display of status through language and verbal praise. In addition, Frears demonstrates the fragility of power and where leadership is vehement when Princess Diana is killed. The Queen loses some informal authority torn between old world protocols and customs, remarking that, This isn t a matter of state, it s a private matter. • 20. Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem, Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and then asks how that influences the creative human mind. Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Analysis Of The Poem Caged Bird By Maya Angelou The poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou tells the story of two birds: one bird has the luxury of freedom and the second bird lives its life caged and maltreated by an unknown tyrant. Maya Angelou wrote this poem during the Civil Rights Era, the period when black activists in the 1950 s and 1960 s fought for desegregation of African Americans. This poem parallels the oppression that African Americans were fighting during this time period. In Caged Bird , Angelou builds a strong contrast that shows the historical context of discrimination and segregation through the use of mood, symbolism, and theme. The mood of Caged Bird changes drastically from stanza to stanza. Angelou s specific diction choices help to reflect the change from being positive to negative with some elements of hope involved. The parts of the poem involving the free bird provide the reader with a feeling of self government. In contrast, the mood associated with the caged bird is confinment. Despite the negative mood tied to the caged bird there are still elements of hope woven into these stanzas. The first stanza of the poem introduce the free bird. Angelou uses words such as leaps . . . and floats (Line 1 3) in description of this character s movements. These actions relate directly to moving without restrictions. Throughout these prefaces Vasari demonstrates his hatred for Byzantine art, describing it as a period of artistic decay, and references the abandonment of stylised Byzantine absurdities found in Gothic art (88). Glory In Oedipus At Colonus In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power relationship and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that gods have over the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to overthrow his predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipusat Colonus, Sophoclesestablishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by the higher power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of humanlife becomes increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being remembered by people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to establish a purpose and meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced upon him. Glory, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction or acknowledgement of his greatness by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy. Despite the fact that the length and fate of one s life is predetermined by a power higher than oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to leave behind a lasting impression on the world. Casey Regardless of the opinions surrounding abortion, a majority of people are familiar with the Supreme court cases of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. These two cases have played a tremendous role in regard to the abortion debate. In 1973, the Roe v. Wadecase was ruled in favour of Roe and stated the stringent criminalization of abortion in Texas was deemed unconstitutional under the fourteenth amendment. The law violated the right of privacy, which implied the privacy of a woman s decision to an abortion. Although the courts agreed with Roe, they also recognized the rights to an abortion are not absolute. Limitations to the right was based on the trimesters of pregnancy with the first trimester protecting the woman s choice and the third trimester being acceptable for states to regulate or even ban abortions outside of therapeutic reasons. In the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Casey fought against the state of Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Abortion Control act. The restrictions required the woman to give a written informed consent, seek parental consent if she was a minor, and notify her husband if she married. With the same violation of the fourteenth amendment as the Roe v. Wade case, the courts saw favour to Casey.
