Using Nursing Exam Data Effectively in Preparing Nursing AccreditationExamSoft
Presented by Ainslie Nibert, Associate Dean/Associate Professor, College of Nursing, Texas Woman's University
Faculty facing either an initial nursing accreditation, or those preparing for a re-affirmation of accreditation visit, need to amass evidence demonstrating how the program is evaluated for achievement of program outcome using reliable and valid measurements. One of the most valuable resources of this evidence is a collection of student performance data from teacher-made and standardized exams used throughout the curriculum. How can faculty demonstrate that the exams they deliver to students are both reliable and valid? The purpose of this webinar is to discuss how faculty can incorporate assessment data and related analysis into their curriculum evaluation processes; establish that the teacher-made and standardized exams administered throughout the program are reliable and valid; and include assessment findings in the accreditation self-study that demonstrate compliance with nationally-recognized education standards in nursing.

At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

3. How do we Measure the Effect?
Through data collection (quantitative) or observation
(qualitative)
Quantitative Data: Qualitative Data: involves
involves analysis of analysis of words, objects,
numerical data or experiences
• Surveillance • Feedback to units for
• Benchmarking areas of improvement
• Intervention • Patient satisfaction
• Evaluation
4. Ways to Measure Infection
Control: Qualitative/Quantitative
Data
• Audit units at random times to measure (quantitative):
i. the amount of hand washing done
ii. effectiveness of hand washing
iii. compliance from the staff
• Auditor(s) can then provide feedback to managers and nurse
leaders of the unit for strengths and weaknesses (qualitative):
– E.g. Hand washing is consistent, but is not done thoroughly for at
least 30 seconds between patients
5. Ways to Measure Infection
Control: Qualitative/Quantitative
Data
• Measure whether patients obtained an infection prior to
entering the hospital or after entering the hospital through a
simple assessment form upon admittance/discharge:
– Allows the unit to determine if they need to make a change (increase
education/training, create incentives/rewards to motivate nurses, add
hand washing stations, or stay as they are
– Allows the infection control department to determine whether units
are keeping up to standard or not
6. Why Measure and What are the
Implications?

Diarrhea Incidence
Confidentiality
and Prevalence
Measurement Know Staff Habit
Techniques changes
Know Effect of

Editor's Notes
Problem: We have identified the problem of managing diarrhea outbreaks in Viet Nam hospitals. Change: In order to make a positive impact on this problem we have decided to implement hand washing programs such as staff education, increasing accessibility, and removing barriers. Effect: We want to know what kind of impact our hand washing programs are having so we would need to measure the change in staff hand washing habits and change in incidence and prevalence of diarrhea cases in the hospital.ReferenceHornby A., Sally W., Colin M., Joanna T., Micheal, (2005), Oxford advanced learner's dictionary, Oxford University PressGary R. Why Measure?Overall, measuring success through quantitative and qualitative approaches should explain whether goals: - achieved the results that the unit expected - produced results the unit didn’t want or expect - should be changed - should continue (or not) - should be measured in other ways Measurement can tell us whether or not the hand washing programs have increased the amount and quality of employee hand washing and if the incidence and prevalence of diarrhea cases in the hospital has decreased.Implications of MeasurementPatient confidentiality may be breached if the methods of obtaining statistical data on the incidence, prevalence and location of patients with diarrhea in the hospital do not cover their identification properly. Implementing on-unit monitoring may imply a lack of trust of the organization in the staff and create discourse. This monitoring tends to be known as it is often fellow staff that take the role and may create a temporary increase in compliance in hand washing that may not be sustained once the individuals monitoring leave the unit.Is there any evidence that the measuring methods are actually measuring the occurrence and effect of hand washing? Have the measurement methods been reviewed? And are these methods found to be practical or do new methods need to be implemented that work better within a Viet Nam hospital?ReferencesErkan, T., Findik, U. Y., & Tokuc, B. (2011).
