The MCMS project aims to (1) detect patterns in institutional data that indicate student retention issues, (2) develop an approach for real-time student support and intervention to address retention, and (3) provide high-quality information to support institutional decision making. The process involves using data mining to analyze student data and identify relationships between performance and factors like year of study, library usage, and nationality. Interventions are then developed based on the findings, such as emails, reports, and feedback to students and faculty. Additionally, an Intelligent Decision Support SIG is being formed to address issues around decision support technologies, data integration and sharing, and engaging stakeholders to develop a roadmap for the sector.

The proposed method will have three phases: 1) constructing neighborhoods of similar users using Pearson correlation and Jaccard similarity, 2) determining trust values for neighborhood members based on similarity, confidence, and profile trust measurements, and 3) combining phase 1 and 2 to define trusted neighbors and calculate actual similarities. The goal is to improve system accuracy by leveraging trust relationships. A literature review discusses existing trust-based recommendation approaches.

Predictive and Statistical Analyses for Academic Advisory Support
The ability to recognize students’ weakness and solving any problem may confront them in timely fashion is
always a target of all educational institutions. This study was designed to explore how can predictive and
statistical analysis support the academic advisor’s work mainly in analysis students’ progress. The sample
consisted of a total of 249 undergraduate students; 46% of them were Female and 54% Male. A one-way
analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test were conducted to analysis if there was different behaviour in
registering courses. Predictive data mining is used for support advisor in decision making. Several
classification techniques with 10-fold Cross-validation were applied. Among of them, C4.5 constitutes the
best agreement among the finding results.
