Control Loop
Closed-loop control: Component parts
• LOAD - unit to be heated, or cooled
• HEATER - electrical or gas
• COOLER - electrical or gas
• INPUT - thermocouple, PT100, dc linear
• CONTROLLER - decision making unit
• OUTPUTS - solid-state relay (SSR) driver
- electro-mechanical relay
Closed-loop control: Terminology
PV
Differential
Set-Point
Output turns on below differential band
Time
Output turns off above differential band
A common home thermostat operates with this type of control
Like West the Differential sets the allowable deviation above and below the setpoint

Important: Press r within 60 seconds to save the change.
MaxVU Mode Structure
There are 3 main modes (or menus) on the device –
1. User Mode
2. Setup Mode
3. Advanced Configuration Mode
User Mode - the live screen used for normal operation
The process variable is always be seen in this mode
Setup Mode – allows access to the most important
parameters
Advanced Configuration Mode - Adu gives access to all
parameters via sub-menus
MaxVU Mode Access
Hold r and press u for Setup Mode
Hold r and press d for Advanced Configuration Mode
Separate lock codes for Setup Mode and Advanced
Configuration Mode
