Max Wertheimer was a pioneering psychologist who developed Gestalt theory with Wolfgang Kohler and Kurt Koffka. He studied psychology in Prague and Germany before working with Kohler and Koffka to develop the concepts of Gestalt theory through experiments from 1910-1914. He believed thinking proceeds from the whole to parts rather than analyzing details. He emphasized laws of organization and productive thinking to solve problems by modifying situations. Wertheimer helped establish Gestalt as a major learning theory, rejecting stimulus-response models in favor of a holistic view of grasping structural wholes.
