MasterCAN CC MasterCAN V-GATE
MasterCAN C 232/485
Full range of vehicle operational data in a
friendly format
is a ready solution for safe and uninterrupted data
reception from onboard vehicle buses for GPS/GLONASS fleet monitoring and
vehicle fuel control management.
2
Operational Principle and Application of
MasterCAN Vehicle Data Interfaces
3
 CAN bus (SAE J1939) and J1708 (SAE J1587)
data reading;
 selecting and arranging parameters into
messages that are easy to read and process on
telematics terminals;
 CAN 2.0B, RS-232, and RS-485 output
messages;
 reading and totalizing data from several
DUT-E CAN fuel level sensors and sending
corresponding output messages.
4
 simple installation with contactless readers
and that are
included with the product;
 safe integration of several digital vehicle
buses;
 less terminal customization time due to filtering
of unnecessary data;
 direct onboard power supply – no need to use
additional power supply units.

Contents of MasterCAN Output Messages
6
 MasterCAN models with CAN output interface
transmit FMS messages without changing them,
and also form Telematics messages that include the
most important vehicle operation parameters.
 MasterCAN models with RS-232 and RS-485
output interfaces either transmit vehicle operation
parameters at request from a terminal (Modbus
protocol) or do this in an automated mode in text
format (ASCII protocol).
 Please refer to the Operation Manual to specify a
model’s set of parameters. You can access the
document at www.mastercan.com

MasterCAN V-GATE: CAN and J1708 Vehicle Buses
Data Preparation for Fleet Telematics Systems
 CAN (SAE J1939) and J1708 (SAE J1587) data
reading;
 forms and transmits messages to the following
output interfaces:
– CAN
– RS-232
 supplied with contactless reader.
8
What Vehicles MasterCAN V-GATE Can Be
Used on?
MasterCAN V-GATE is suitable for any type of vehicles (trucks, buses, agricultural
machinery) where J1708 and/or CAN buses are used, e.g. vehicles manufactured
by Renault, Volvo, Freightliner, as well as Cummins engines.
9
Data Reception from CAN and J1708
Vehicle Buses Using MasterCAN V-GATE
 MasterCAN V-GATE can be connected to CAN bus either using contactless
readers (recommended), or by direct contact.
 A telematics tracking device with CAN or RS-232 input interfaces may be used to receive
data.
10
MasterCAN C 232/485: CAN Bus Data Preparation
for Fleet Telematics Systems
 data reception from CAN bus;
 forms and transmits messages to the
following output interfaces:
– RS-232
– RS-485
 supplied with contactless
reader.
11
What Vehicles MasterCAN C 232/485 Can
Be Used on?
MasterCAN C 232/485 is suitable for any type of vehicles (trucks, buses,
agricultural machinery) where CAN bus is used (J1939).
12
Data Reception from CAN Bus Using
MasterCAN C 232/485
 MasterCAN C 232/485 can be connected to CAN bus either using CANCrocodile contactless
reader (recommended), or by direct contact.
 In RS-232 and RS-485, text messages based on ASCII protocol are sent at a one second
interval or messages based on Modbus protocol are sent in the request-response mode.
 A telematics tracking device with RS-232 or RS-485 input interfaces may be used to receive
data.
13
Summation of Data from Several
DUT-E CAN Fuel Level Sensors
MasterCAN C 232/485 and MasterCAN V-GATE can be used for summation of data on the fuel
volume in several tanks. They support up to 8 tanks with DUT-E CAN fuel level sensors. The
information about the amount of fuel is transmitted to the terminal using RS-232 and RS-485
interfaces (DUT-E COM interface).
14
MasterCAN CC. CAN Bus Data for Fleet Telematics
 CAN bus data reading;
 safe data grouping from multiple CAN
buses;
 forms and transmits vehicle operation
parameters as messages to CAN output
interface (SAE J1939/71 protocol) in FMS
and Telematics formats;
 supplied with contactless
reader.
15
Data Reception from CAN Bus Using
MasterCAN CC
 MasterCAN CC may be connected to CAN bus either using CANCrocodile (recommended
method), or by direct contact.
 A tracking device with CAN input interface can be used to receive data.
