University of the Arts London (UAL) has led the field in open education & digital literacies activities & projects in arts subjects over the past eight years, mostly through external or part funded projects[i]. However awareness of open educational resources (OER), Open Educational Practice (OEP) and digital making remain under the radar, outside mainstream pedagogic practice. Staff and students lack confidence, skills and awareness or can criticality engage and challenge practices such as self-archiving, online identities, online presence[ii], digital making and physical computing.
This paper aims to explore the widening gap between formal pedagogic practices (institutional) and the informal emergent digital domains and practices (Grassroots) within arts learning & teaching.
How do we reconcile these differences?
Chris will share the experiences and challenges of the digital learning, teaching and enhancement work at CCW (Camberwell, Chelsea, and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts) in the development of formal digital learning and teaching practices along side the emergent informal grassroots learning practices.

Subsequently several signs/examples of disruption within the educational system are highlighted. Applied Mobile-Assisted Seamless Learning Techniques in MOOCsMax Bothe
As Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are nowadays used in an increasingly ubiquitous manner, the learning process gets disrupted every time learners change context. Mobile-Assisted Seam- less Learning (MSL) techniques have been identified to reduce unwanted overhead for learners and streamline their learning process. However, technical implementations vary across the industry. This paper exam- ines existing MSL research and applied techniques in the context of MOOCs. Therefore, we discussed related MSL research topics. After- ward, eleven characteristic MSL features were selected and compared their implementations across five major MOOC platforms. While web applications provide a bigger feature set, mobile clients offer advanced offline capabilities. Based on the findings, a concept outlines how MSL features can enhance the learning experience on MOOC platforms while considering the technical feasibility.

Three school district leaders from urban and suburban districts in the United States with high populations of second language learners will share their competency-based professional learning model. The district leaders will share their professional learning models and the impact in their unique context. The focus will be based on personalized professional learning to support powerful learning and teaching accelerated by technology. An emphasis will be on personalized professional learning and demonstrations of teacher development linked to student outcomes rather than seat time. Implications will be shared for designing an ecosystem, characterized by high expectations and high support, to impact a culture of learning and innovation.

Getting on board with REF requirements: games for early career researchersAlison McNab
A growing number of card and board games have been developed to enable early career researchers (ECRs) to engage with key concepts or elements of the research lifecycle. These games vary in complexity, the time needed to play them, and the required preparation time. However, most are free or low-cost and thus valuable for academic libraries seeking to engage with early career researchers, either to introduce or reinforce understanding of a topic, often as part of a training session.
This workshop will introduce delegates to a range of physical games related to research and publishing, review these in relation to the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF), and consider the potential of these games (and others yet to be devised) in supporting researchers in their own library setting.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
