Marine pollution is caused by sewage sludge, industrial effluents, detergents, agrochemicals, solid wastes, plastics, metals and waste heat polluting the oceans. The main sources are rivers carrying pollutants from drainage basins, coastal areas with human settlements and industry, and oil drilling and shipment.
