Marijuana was first reported in ancient China in 2737 BC and was used for medicinal purposes. It spread throughout Asia and Europe by 500 AD. Marijuana can be smoked, eaten, or absorbed and the most popular method is smoking. There are three main types - Indica, Sativa, and Ruderalis. The psychoactive ingredient is THC. Short term effects include increased heart rate and poor coordination, while long term effects can include learning difficulties and personality changes. Medical marijuana may help reduce nausea, pain, and seizures. Mixing marijuana and alcohol is dangerous as it can increase intoxication and impair judgment.

wax or budder—a soft solid with a texture like lip balm
shatter—a hard, amber-colored solid
Oral Ingestion
Orally consumed cannabinoids tends to be stronger and last longer (4-6 hours) than inhaled cannabis.
This is because of the way bodies metabolize THC.
When cannabis is inhaled, THC passes rapidly from the lungs to the blood stream and to the brain.
When cannabis is consumed orally, a significant portion of THC is converted into the metabolite 11-hydroxy-THC before reaching the brain.
This metabolite is believed to be slightly more potent than THC and possesses a greater blood-brain penetrability

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Marijuana then spread quickly and was into Indonesia, Africa, and into Europe by the year 500 A.D.
The report about marijuana was made by the Chinese emperor Shen Nung. The emperor stated that the marijuana helped rheumatism,

The Spanish introduced marijuana to “the New World” in 1545
At Jamestown in 1611 marijuana was a major crop right alongside tobacco.

It wasn’t until the 1950’s that marijuana was considered a “gateway” drug

5. Marijuana Classification and Legal Issues
There are three main types of marijuana and they are-Indica, Sativa, and Ruderalis
Marijuana is considered a schedule 1 drug by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Schedule 1 drugs are considered drugs with no current medically accepted value and have a high risk of being
abused
Schedule 1 drugs are considered the most dangerous of all the drug schedules
If you have less than 30 grams, in Indiana, the max is one year in jail and a $5,000 fine
If you have over 30 grams,in Indiana, you can get up to 8 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine
What you are charged and what time you have to serve depends on the conditions of the occurrence
What time you get and fine vary from state to state
6. Chemicals
There are over 400 chemicals associated with marijuana
60 are special to marijuana
Those 60 unique chemicals are called cannabinoids
The chemical that makes marijuana act the way it does is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or
commonly referred to as THC
7. Effects
For the short term physical marijuana can reduce reaction time, increase the risk of heart attack, and you can have
poor coordination
For the short term mental marijuana can cause panic, anxiety, and sensory distortion
For the long term physical you can experience growth disorders, suppression of the immune system, and reduction
of testosterone
For the long term mental you can experience difficulty learning, apathy, personality changes, and you may have a
hard time understanding things
A user of marijuana may also experience a dependence that will drive him or her away from family and friends.
People can become so dependent on the feeling that marijuana gives them that they are never really themselves
which drives people away
8. Effects Continued
The effect caused by marijuana on your respiratory system could be worse than from just cigarettes because the
smoke from marijuana contains 50-70 percent more carcinogens than tobacco smoke
The effects of marijuana on the digestive system is mainly that it will dry up the digestion fluids and can also cause
constipation
The effects of marijuana on the cardiovascular system is that using marijuana can increase the risk of a heart attack
by increasing your heartbeat and occasionally will produce marked orthostatic hypotension
9. Medical Marijuana
The medical advantages of marijuana come from two of the chemicals found in marijuana,
THC and CBD
THC would help reduce vomiting, help nausea, reduce pain, and maybe also help reduce
inflammation
CBD would help in controlling epileptic seizures, and possibly treat mental illness
Marijuana is also being used in many medical studies involving the treatment of these
diseases: HIV/AIDS, MS, Alzheimers, and many other physical issues such as
inflammation, pain, seizures, and mental disorders
10. Marijuana and Alcohol
When someone mixes alcohol and marijuana the effect of the THC can in some cases be
doubled
An effect called “greening out” is very likely if someone is to combine alcohol and
marijuana
Also, when you drink and smoke marijuana you have very poor judgement which can
result in drinking too much and that may result in death by alcohol poisoning
As a result of drinking too much the body vomits to rid itself of the alcohol but marijuana
helps prevent vomiting so it is dangerous because a person could be injured from the
toxins in his body or from the vomit that is produced
11. Effect of Marijuana on Friends and Family
Someone who smokes marijuana can seriously injure his relationships as a result
The effects of marijuana make a person act abnormally and have poor judgement so a family can feel uncared for by
the person who smokes the marijuana
Marijuana can also affect society by affecting the families
The more “broken” homes there are the more troubled people we will have as part of our society so society is
directly affected by families
