2. 1. Rhythm or Movement – This is created when one or more elements of design are
used repeatedly to create a feeling of organized movement.
2. Balance – It is the arrangement of elements so that there is visual equality in
shape, form, value, color and so forth.
3. Emphasis – This is the part of the design that an artist uses to make one area
stand out by contrasting it with the other areas (focal point). The areas could be
different in size, color, texture, or shape among others.
4. Proportion – It is the feeling of unity created when all parts (sizes, amounts, or
numbers) relate well with each other.
5. Harmony – This is achieved using similar or related elements throughout an
artwork or sculpture, giving it an uncomplicated look.
6. Variety – It is the use of several elements of design to hold the viewer’s attention
and guide his or her eyes through and round the work of art. It is achieved using
different lines, shapes, and colors within an artwork to make key areas stand
out.
7. Unity – This is the feeling of harmony between all parts of the artwork creating a
sense of completeness.
