This presentation will explore one aspect of the Digital Divide, discussed in recent literature with regards to gender differences in how information and communication technologies are utilised and accessed by both sexes. It has been found that women are underrepresented in information and communication technology (ICT) higher education courses as well as the Information Technology (IT) industry in Australia. This has the resultant effect of creating a skills shortage and gender inequality in an ever expanding knowledge & computer based society. Policies regarding the Australian economy are shifting their focus to creating green ICT related jobs which will require more technical computer skills. Therefore it is imperative that the IT sector considers leveraging all kinds of diversity, especially gender diversity, to not only increase their productivity but to facilitate innovation of ICT’s and market them to an equally diverse society. To proceed, the user must drag priority icons representing expenses like food to a "spend less on" area, acknowledging tradeoffs. Over time, priorities become greyed out as funds decrease. This interrupts habits by creating associations between purchases and their impacts in a way that respects personal choice. The solution was informed by research finding financial issues are behavioral and interrupting the act can spark change.

When speaking about program evaluation, that is an essential tool in evaluating university flaws and successes it is important to discuss the various roadblocks to a uniformed system. The biggest roadblock would be the cost. With this cost of data collection, is the ways in which it is collected. Many universities believe in purchasing expensive tools that would all them to collect in a more uniform and mainstream way. A well-defined budget would need to be put in place to make sure that the cost of the overall evaluation is balanced and justified. This way the department could see just how much they are spending in each category to see if they can afford the tools needed for collection. However, the data collection results yield an outcome that is worth the money spent on tools. When universities use data-driven collection their results, they can see what is working and what is not working. With this data, they can make effective changes to go in a positive direction. Technological infrastructure helps get the data needed in a timely manner and analyze it effectively. This cuts down on the manual labor that university administrators would need to do. For Binchley College, it was helpful that they had so much data collected and it was laid out in a clear to understand manner to interpret. I think of data of concern was the lack of background between the different year. It would be critical to see if any on-campus events or changes yielded a better return. One aspect that needed to be changed was the cost metrics. It would have been beneficial to see where the donations from the alumni were being spent compared with the amount donated. This way we could break it down into categories and change what is needed. This way the budget would stay the same year after year.

When speaking about program evaluation, that is an essential tool in evaluating university flaws and successes it is important to discuss the various roadblocks to a uniformed system. The biggest roadblock would be the cost. With this cost of data collection, is the ways in which it is collected. Many universities believe in purchasing expensive tools that would all them to collect in a more uniform and mainstream way. A well-defined budget would need to be put in place to make sure that the cost of the overall evaluation is balanced and justified. This way the department could see just how much they are spending in each category to see if they can afford the tools needed for collection. However, the data collection results yield an outcome that is worth the money spent on tools. When universities use data-driven collection their results, they can see what is working and what is not working. With this data, they can make effective changes to go in a positive direction. Technological infrastructure helps get the data needed in a timely manner and analyze it effectively. This cuts down on the manual labor that university administrators would need to do. For Binchley College, it was helpful that they had so much data collected and it was laid out in a clear to understand manner to interpret. I think of data of concern was the lack of background between the different year. It would be critical to see if any on-campus events or changes yielded a better return. One aspect that needed to be changed was the cost metrics. It would have been beneficial to see where the donations from the alumni were being spent compared with the amount donated. This way we could break it down into categories and change what is needed. This way the budget would stay the same year after year.

Financial management in higher education has been under scrutiny for the way money is
handled. There are many opportunities for employees to personally benefit from the money
designated for universities. All universities should strive to educate and monitor financial
transactions to ensure that the public trust is unquestioned.
When a person acts for the public good they strive to increase the welfare of those around
them other than themselves. Our policies should be established in a way that does not require
a person to act against their own self-interest. The policies should provide a well thought-out
framework in which to work so that the temptation to benefit one is not an option. People have
a tendency to operate from a position of self-interest. Self interest can be referred to as
“egoism”. Acting for the public good requires that the person is motivated by their own ego but
the action is to increase the public good.
Collectivism is when a group of persons are benefitted by a certain action. In higher education
we work individually and in groups to accomplish the goals of the university. When a group
works to better the institution in which they also benefit is collectivism. Social dilemmas arise
when a person or group have to choose who will benefit from a particular action. Some groups
benefit while others do not. Another dilemma is when the benefits of a decision are greater for
one group than another.
We say that a person is altruistic if their motives are to benefit one or more persons other than
themselves. Principlism is motivation to uphold a morale principle. It is necessary to
understand these various concepts to lay the foundation for understanding how to properly
manage money.
As administrators in higher education we are expected to act in a manner that is ethically and
fiscally responsible. We have a social responsibility to do the jobs we are paid to do to the best
of our abilities. Fiduciary responsibility means that we are responsible for the proper financial
management of the money we control. Anyone who experiences the effects of the activities of
the university are called “stakeholders”. A healthy tension occurs when our fiduciary
responsibilities are contrasted with our social responsibilities. This tension is called the
“stakeholder’s paradox”.

- 1. Managing Personal Finances Managing and budgeting personal finances is one of the most important skills that people have to learn and master. Making wrong decisions hurts a person’s present and future. People should start planning for their short and long term financial goals as early as during their college years. However, most adults are unaware of the best ways to manage and budget their finances. This paper aims to discuss the best ways to manage personal finances, so a lot of aspects were tackled including the importance of early financial planning and use of modern technology to enhance the results of sound financial decisions. Students are early faced with the urge to manage their finances from the minute they think about getting a student loan. The disability to manage finances at that early stage causes a negative impact that lasts for long. Statistics prove that one in every 5 households currently owe a student loan with a debt that is likely to be paid during a decade or more. Financially literate individuals know the basic concepts related to managing money and different assets. Personal spending trackers are useful devices that aid people in calculating their personal financial transactions to have the right information for more informed decisions. The central processing unit (CPU) stores information related to gaining money and spending it on finding and highlighting patterns. CPU then directs the device to display this information in a visual analytical representation that divides spending into different categories. Computer algorithms are successfully used to identify patterns. These values are manually modified and edited until this algorithm may process future data on its own. Such computer software programs are combined with various tools and applications to track quantifiable financial information. Students’ buying behaviour is currently affected by several factors including peer pressure and social media patterns. Those who are under the influence of the group are more likely to end up with credit card indebtedness. Compulsive buying patterns are likely to affect people’s decisions and self-esteem. Offering continuous support and education helps people overcome problems of falling victims to credit card schemes. This includes support from parents and peers Emphasizing the right type of consumption is another way that helps people prioritize their spending throughout different stages of their lives. Finding a better way to deal with stress or frustration promotes the conscious way of dealing with money regardless of income obtained. In order gain to gain a full understanding of the best ways to manage personal finances, it is necessary to conduct a study that examines all aspects related to spending and saving. This includes, but is not limited to managing educational loans, using technological devices, examining social pressure and managing credit card debts. Information technology and new devices play an important role and facilitate identifying spending patterns. As the world keeps on changing more emphasis should be given to the factors that limit people’s ability to make sound financial decisions.
