into three parts to analysis whether it is ethical and
responsible or not. These parts are
•Design
•sale and
•Finical

Question(1): What Do You Think of Nau‘S Approach to Doing
Business? Is It Being Ethical and Responsible? Discus.
Design:
In the design area, Nau developed fabrics that are more sustainable.
Those fabrics make the products’ usable life becoming longer and
greener, since the fabrics are more sustainable. This design approach is
responsible to the environment. In order to ensure that all products are
obey the Nau’s value, a code of conduct, all the process are supervised by
an independent, nonprofit auditing and research firm. This behave is a
standard ethical example.
Sales:
In the sales area, Nau sales products by “Web-front”. It means customers
can purchase products from the Web. By this approach, the online stores
can be much smaller standard store. Nau donates 5% income to the
charitable organizations for settling humanitarian and important
environmental problems. It shows that Nau goes beyond making profits to
include protecting and improving society’s.
Finacial:
It shows that Nau goes beyond making profits to include protecting and
improving society’s. This response is represent Nau’s social; responsibility.
Apart from caring society, Nau care about its finical performance.

Being ethical and responsible
ethical means doing thing refers to a right principles, values and
beliefs. Responsible can be understood by two views, the classical
view and the socioeconomic view. The classical view management
is only response to maximize profits or financial return by operating
the business in the best interests of the stockholders. While the
socioeconomic view management is response to goes beyond
making profits to include protecting and improving society’s well-
being and welfare because corporations are not independent
entities responsible only to stockholders.

Business? Is It Being Ethical and Responsible? Discus.

percent of sales revenue to
It is ethical and responsible from the perspective of moral standard
A firm is defined as social responsible when it intends to do right things
and to benefit the society beyond the legal and economic obligations.
Nau’s business, personally speaking, attempts to improve its social
responsibility by its human-based management strategy.
Question(1): What Do You Think of Nau‘S Approach to Doing
Business? Is It Being Ethical and Responsible? Discus.

Question(2): Will Nau’s approach have a limited appeal, or do you
think it is staying power ? What drawbacks might there be to what
Nau is doing ?
Will Nau’s approach have a limited appeal, or do you think it has
staying power?
This approach has an extra cost involved, which means that in hard
economic times Nau has a limited appeal, because the population would
rather choose the cheaper product. Although, the company also saves
money by the inventory for instance. As mentioned in the case, they do not
need a large storage room, because of the “Web-front” concept. Studies
appear to show a positive relationship between social involvement and the
economic performance of firms. So in the times when the economy is down,
it has a limited appeal for customers, but in the long-run Nau will have
staying power.

What drawbacks might there be to what Nau is doing ?
The drawbacks might be
They won’t be able to maximize their profits
The extra costs involved
Lack of skills
lack of accountability
Question(2): Will Nau’s approach have a limited appeal, or do you
think it is staying power ? What drawbacks might there be to what
Nau is doing ?
Question(3): Is it a business’s responsibility to get customers to
‘’ connect the dots” and make choices about social issues?
Have you often heard folks say things like “ I wish I didn’t work
here” or “I cannot stand that customer” or even stuff like “I wish
that the other teams’ in my company are not successful in that
project” or stuff like “”I wish I don’t have to pay so much for my
employees”.
These are real expressions that I often hear from employees or
business owners working in small and large companies. Just take
a moment and think about the specific comments above. I am
sure some of those comments above were done by folks at the
spur of the moment or were inadvertent.
Nevertheless, just imagine not having a job to look after your
family or pay for your mortgage. Imagine if you cannot stand to be
in the presence of most of your customers, or even if those
customers that you cannot stand come to know of it. Further, just
Imagine if the other teams in your company do not succeed and
fail and if they affect the overall profitability of your company. Also,
just think about losing a valuable employee whom you deem to be
“paying too much”.Management Team Bees
These statements, feelings, thoughts and actions are often dumb, myopic
and self destroying and do not give any credence to its end consequence.
In other words, the proponents of these miscalculated statements are not
“connecting the dots”.
I am sure most you have come across a kids’ game known as “connect
the dots”. These are games given in family restaurant to ensure that kids
are occupied and are not bored, whilst they are waiting for their food to
arrive. In this game, the player is required to connect the numbers, which
appear random on a sheet of paper. Once the numbers are all fully
connected, those random dots will reveal an image or picture of
something.
Business and life itself is made up of a series of dots that appear so
discrete and disparate. Very often, instances, cues, actions, suggestions,
choices, decisions and others appear so unconnected. Despite the
seemingly inconsequential and illusory image it gives, there are significant
consequences to each of those choices that we make. When the series of
actions, words and deeds are connected, they give us a truer picture. This
is called “connecting the dots” in business.
Question(3): Is it a business’s responsibility to get customers to
‘’ connect the dots” and make choices about social issues?
Management Team Bees
Question(4): Are the lessons here for other business? Discuss
There are certainly lessons here for other businesses.
First of all, companies pollute the environment a lot. Some examples are:
 Air, water, and soil pollution from toxic wastes
 Global warming from greenhouse gas emissions
 Natural resource depletion
The government has to make regulation, because most of the companies
don’t clean up their mess. But when companies have social
responsibility the government don’t have to do that. After some
experience innovations will occur to produce cheap and “clean”. There
will also exist a fair competition, all the companies have the same
approach and produce it in the same way.

Responsible can be understood by two views, the classical view and the socioeconomic view. The classical view management is only response to maximize profits or financial return by operating the business in the best interests of the stockholders. While the socioeconomic view management is response to goes beyond making profits to include protecting and improving society’s well- being and welfare because corporations are not independent entities responsible only to stockholders. Nau’s business, personally speaking, attempts to improve its social responsibility by its human-based management strategy. Question(1): What Do You Think of Nau‘S Approach to Doing Business? Is It Being Ethical and Responsible? Discus. Management Team Bees
  • 9. Question(2): Will Nau’s approach have a limited appeal, or do you think it is staying power ? What drawbacks might there be to what Nau is doing ? Will Nau’s approach have a limited appeal, or do you think it has staying power? This approach has an extra cost involved, which means that in hard economic times Nau has a limited appeal, because the population would rather choose the cheaper product. Although, the company also saves money by the inventory for instance. As mentioned in the case, they do not need a large storage room, because of the “Web-front” concept. Studies appear to show a positive relationship between social involvement and the economic performance of firms. So in the times when the economy is down, it has a limited appeal for customers, but in the long-run Nau will have staying power. Management Team Bees

  • 11. Question(3): Is it a business’s responsibility to get customers to ‘’ connect the dots” and make choices about social issues? Have you often heard folks say things like “ I wish I didn’t work here” or “I cannot stand that customer” or even stuff like “I wish that the other teams’ in my company are not successful in that project” or stuff like “”I wish I don’t have to pay so much for my employees”. These are real expressions that I often hear from employees or business owners working in small and large companies. Just take a moment and think about the specific comments above. I am sure some of those comments above were done by folks at the spur of the moment or were inadvertent. Nevertheless, just imagine not having a job to look after your family or pay for your mortgage. Imagine if you cannot stand to be in the presence of most of your customers, or even if those customers that you cannot stand come to know of it. Further, just Imagine if the other teams in your company do not succeed and fail and if they affect the overall profitability of your company. Also, just think about losing a valuable employee whom you deem to be “paying too much”.Management Team Bees
  • 12. These statements, feelings, thoughts and actions are often dumb, myopic and self destroying and do not give any credence to its end consequence. In other words, the proponents of these miscalculated statements are not “connecting the dots”. I am sure most you have come across a kids’ game known as “connect the dots”. These are games given in family restaurant to ensure that kids are occupied and are not bored, whilst they are waiting for their food to arrive. In this game, the player is required to connect the numbers, which appear random on a sheet of paper. Once the numbers are all fully connected, those random dots will reveal an image or picture of something. Business and life itself is made up of a series of dots that appear so discrete and disparate. Very often, instances, cues, actions, suggestions, choices, decisions and others appear so unconnected. Despite the seemingly inconsequential and illusory image it gives, there are significant consequences to each of those choices that we make. When the series of actions, words and deeds are connected, they give us a truer picture. This is called “connecting the dots” in business. Question(3): Is it a business’s responsibility to get customers to ‘’ connect the dots” and make choices about social issues? Management Team Bees
  • 13. Question(4): Are the lessons here for other business? Discuss There are certainly lessons here for other businesses. First of all, companies pollute the environment a lot. Some examples are:  Air, water, and soil pollution from toxic wastes  Global warming from greenhouse gas emissions  Natural resource depletion The government has to make regulation, because most of the companies don’t clean up their mess. But when companies have social responsibility the government don’t have to do that. After some experience innovations will occur to produce cheap and “clean”. There will also exist a fair competition, all the companies have the same approach and produce it in the same way. Management Team Bees
