Cryptography involves techniques for securing communication and information. It uses ciphers and encryption algorithms to convert plain text into encrypted ciphertext. There are two main types of encryption: symmetric key encryption which uses a shared secret key for encryption and decryption, and asymmetric (public key) encryption which uses separate public and private keys. Cryptography is used for secure communication over the internet, wireless networks, and to encrypt files and content. Common ciphers include the Caesar cipher which shifts each letter by a fixed number of positions. Ciphers can be attacked using statistical analysis of letter frequencies or brute force methods to decrypt the ciphertext without the key.

Social networks have both advantages and disadvantages in people's lives, especially young people. They allow people to connect and share information across distances but can also be addictive and reduce privacy. While networks are useful tools, overuse can cause people to spend less time on other important activities and relationships. It is important that people, especially youth, use social media in moderation and do not let it control their lives.

This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

Greg convinced me to get an education on the job
For a whopping $35K I became a large format printing making huge graphics.
I loved making things. It helped me with process, systemizing and determination
Production Manger
Sandwiched between account managers, designs and the makers.
When I started in 2006 we had 5 staff
When I left in 2013 we had 42 staff – 28 of them were makers or designers and they reported to me.
I loved my job
I loved my bosess and team
One major problem! It was all kind of shallow.
Constantly surrounded by picture of modles and brands
Tired and weary
I had a awakening
I started questioning to our suppliers about materials
How is this made, what are the raw materials, where do they come from?
After hearing for myself
The penny dropped
I was playing a part in an industry that had no regard for its impacts
Sometimes these graphics would only go up for 1 day!
So much, resources, time and money
I had a very good relationship with Greg he was my mentor
I told him how I was feeling.
His quick and simple response was “Good is a Verb”
I took it that as yes Mel I understand your moving on.
For the next year Greg let me “moonlight” and literally rummage through the sometimes perfectly good post production waste.

He had just done a trip t American libraies
Thanks to Warren
I got lost of insights
I didn't’t just go to libraries
Not enough time to talk about them all.
Picked some insights I thought could be most valuable to you all
Just before moving on them.
Everywhere I went I would ask why is this movement so prevalent in America.
The responses I got were quite interesting;
STEAM (Science, tech, engineering, arts, math) Activities had been eradicated by the Bush government
Alternative learning environments where being pushed by parents
American an passionate about Made in America
Renowned for their manufacturing ability
Until China took the cake!

Reggio Emilia Approach
The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based upon the following set of principles:
Children must have some control over the direction of their learning;
Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing;
Children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that children must be allowed to explore;
Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.

If you can’t think of at least 5 meaningful objects to print using 3D printing, then don’t buy one
This goes for schools also
So many schools have 3D printers they don’t use
I believe this is because the haven't thought about what problems they will solve
Have not empowered their students
Became very frustrated with failed prints
This goes for all technologies not just 3DP
