Gandhi was born in modern-day India to a high caste family and educated in London as a lawyer. He advocated for non-violent civil disobedience in South Africa and India. Some of his notable actions included leading an ambulance corps in South Africa, proposing non-violence in Champaran, and being imprisoned for sedition in 1922. Ultimately, Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse in 1948 due to Gandhi's kindness towards Pakistan.
