other magazines from another business
• It is a lot a lot cheaper then having to look for a business to publish
their magazines
Form
• The purpose of a magazine is to inform, entertain and educate for the
audience. Certain magazines report on different genres which results
on them being more of an entertainment magazine instead of a
informative magazine e.g. kids magazine.
• Hearst produce cross media products, which means that Hearst do
not just produce one type of content, but multiple at the same
time e.g. text, music, image, video etc.
• The purpose of this is to reach out to wider audience who
like to consume products in different ways.

• The target audience for magazines can range depending on the genre (for
example a kids magazine is for 3-11 year olds)
• Magazines tend to be sold at a low cost usually anything between 99p and £2.50.
• They usually sold at every superstore and you can find loads of markets dedicated
to selling them.
• Hearst also usally cooperate with another organisation to produce a greater
product (synergy). They do this by using one of the brands they own and use
snapchat and twitter to promote hearst, attracting a younger audience. The most
popular names also have apps as well.
• Hearst have a unique brand idenity because it simply owns so many brands, this
means when a customer consumes one of the brands hearst owns they will know
that hearst own it. So it could be argued they have an brand itentity through the
many brands they own.
What makes a magazine unique??
• A magazine is unlike other forms of media because magazines usually
are heavily constructed with interviews of other people.
• This makes it unique as for a newspaper they would just mainly talk
about an event for example, but they would not really give an
interview (unless its a soft news).
Genre (Entertainment)
• First of all, what is an entertainment magazine?...
➢An entertainment magazine is a magazine, with articles that are
simply trying to entertain you.
➢These range from completely different genres like a film magazine,
car magazine and video games magazine for example.
• There are multiple forms of entertainment, for example..

Conventions
Magazines used conventions so people can distincally tell that it is a
magazine simply just by looking at it.
Conventions are powerful because it is what attracts the reader into
buying the product. For example "Inside, taylor swift gives advice on
how to become a better singer"
Examples of Conventions in magazines
• Heres a few examples of conventions used in magazines…
• The narrative of a newspaper would include the cover design, content
within the newspaper and featured people inside of it.
• Mise en scene is everything within the scene and magazines are able
to show us through the way of props, people in the cover art,
background etc.
• Direct gaze is when the model looks directly into the
camera to give us a sense of confidence.

Certain magazines report on different genres which results on them being more of an entertainment magazine instead of a informative magazine e.g. kids magazine. • Hearst produce cross media products, which means that Hearst do not just produce one type of content, but multiple at the same time e.g. text, music, image, video etc. • The purpose of this is to reach out to wider audience who like to consume products in different ways.

More about form. • The target audience for magazines can range depending on the genre (for example a kids magazine is for 3-11 year olds) • Magazines tend to be sold at a low cost usually anything between 99p and £2.50. • They usually sold at every superstore and you can find loads of markets dedicated to selling them. • Hearst also usally cooperate with another organisation to produce a greater product (synergy). They do this by using one of the brands they own and use snapchat and twitter to promote hearst, attracting a younger audience. The most popular names also have apps as well. • Hearst have a unique brand idenity because it simply owns so many brands, this means when a customer consumes one of the brands hearst owns they will know that hearst own it. So it could be argued they have an brand itentity through the many brands they own.

What makes a magazine unique?? • A magazine is unlike other forms of media because magazines usually are heavily constructed with interviews of other people. • This makes it unique as for a newspaper they would just mainly talk about an event for example, but they would not really give an interview (unless its a soft news).

  • 7. Conventions Magazines used conventions so people can distincally tell that it is a magazine simply just by looking at it. Conventions are powerful because it is what attracts the reader into buying the product. For example "Inside, taylor swift gives advice on how to become a better singer"

Examples of Conventions in magazines • Heres a few examples of conventions used in magazines… • The narrative of a newspaper would include the cover design, content within the newspaper and featured people inside of it. • Mise en scene is everything within the scene and magazines are able to show us through the way of props, people in the cover art, background etc. • Direct gaze is when the model looks directly into the camera to give us a sense of confidence.
