A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

3. Bar Codes!
The bar code contains the
date of which the magazine
was published.
All bar codes tend to be the
same, with a white
background and is placed in
the left or right hand corner
at the bottom.
The bar code always
contains the price of the
magazine.
4. Colour Schemes!
There are no more than three
colours used on the same
magazine cover. For example;
On the cover of BBC Music
magazine they have kept it
simple with blacks and
greys, the title is black yet the
background is grey. Also they
have used white for some of
the text. All these colours link
together. Also for „Q‟
magazine they have used
reds, whites and blacks! They
have a different colour for
their background but that
goes with their image. As for
„NME‟ magazine they have
also kept it simple with just
three colours; Yellow, black
and white.
5. Text and Fonts!
Also on the front cover, the
magazine contains key words that
suggest the fan is part of an
exclusive club by using words such
as; Inside, revealed, exclusive, new.
And „NME‟ „Q‟ and „BBC MUSIC‟
magazine have included some of
these key words.
“World Exclusive” “NEW
interview, UNSEEN photos”, “Their
biggest challenge yet…”
All these words suggest that the
reader is a special fan and are
getting all these „exclusive‟ things
, the magazine includes these
because they want to make the
reader/fan feel involved and
included so when they see „NEW
EXCLUSIVE…” they will buy the
magazine. In al;l of the magazines I
have looked at they tend to keep the
front quite simple and plain, but
when they use interesting keywords
they make them bold and bright so
they stand out and catch the eye. All
the fronts and sizes carry on
through out the whole magazine.

All the contents pages suggest that
they have at least 68 pages of
material in the magazine.
The contents page also contains the
same date as the front cover of the
magazine. All the contents pages
that I have looked at they all have a
theme that matches the front cover
and it goes throughout the magazine
instead of having a strict page order.
Therefore the contents page contains
the same three fonts as the front
cover.
