Over the past year, the gender shift among clients donating to philanthropic causes has changed, with two thirds now being women. This is attributed to more women taking on leadership roles in business and family foundations. There has also been a broader movement encouraging women's involvement in philanthropy through groups focused on women. Giving circles, where groups pool money and jointly decide where to donate, have grown in popularity especially among women. These circles allow learning about more causes than individually and gaining knowledge from others. While the economic environment makes some hesitant to donate, it may paradoxically be the best time as acts of generosity can help one feel content with what they have by changing their perception of what is enough.
