Essay Of Earthquake
Writing an essay on the topic of earthquakes presents a unique set of challenges that require
careful consideration and research. The complexity arises from the need to strike a balance
between providing comprehensive information and maintaining a coherent and engaging
narrative. Addressing the scientific aspects of earthquakes, such as their causes, effects, and the
geological processes involved, demands a solid understanding of seismology and geophysics.
This requires extensive research and the ability to distill complex scientific concepts into
accessible language for a diverse audience.
Moreover, discussing the human impact of earthquakes involves delving into the socio-economic,
psychological, and environmental repercussions. Analyzing case studies, historical events, and
the aftermath of significant earthquakes around the world is essential to provide a well-rounded
perspective. Additionally, addressing potential mitigation strategies and the role of technology in
earthquake prediction and early warning systems adds another layer of complexity.
Crafting a compelling introduction to grab the reader's attention and a strong conclusion that ties
together the various aspects of the essay is crucial. Ensuring a smooth flow of ideas and
maintaining a logical structure throughout the essay can be challenging, especially when juggling
multiple facets of the topic. Striking the right balance between technical details and readability is
essential to engage both experts and general readers.
Furthermore, keeping the essay updated with the latest research findings and incorporating
diverse viewpoints enhances its credibility. This requires staying informed about recent
developments in seismology and related fields.
In conclusion, writing an essay on earthquakes demands a thorough understanding of scientific
principles, a comprehensive review of historical and contemporary events, and the ability to
communicate complex ideas effectively. It requires diligence in research, careful structuring, and
the skill to present information in an engaging manner. For those facing challenges or time
constraints, seeking assistance from professional writing services, such asHelpWriting.net, can
provide valuable support in producing high-quality essays on various topics.

Methodology Of Python Library
3. Methodology
3.1 Python Libraries
Python is a kind of simple but powerful programming language. The concise and
flexible grammar makes Python looks like pseudocode, so that users can spend more
time on algorithms, instead of coding and debugging, which makes Python one of the
most favorite programming languages of scientists and researchers. In addition, due
to its open source nature, plenty of libraries have been developed, which nearly cover
all the existing research fields, especially scientific computation and artificial
intelligence. Therefore, Python language and relevant libraries, such as NLTK, Scikit
learn, Tensorflow, and Keras, are the main tools in this project.
The NLTK library is a multi function NLP toolkit and contains a... Show more

The Word2vec designed by Mikolov is one of the most popular word embedding
models and will be used in this project. This model deploys two classic word
embedding algorithms, which are continuous bag of words and skip gram, and
contains shallow neural models[17]. Besides, there are also some pretrained
models, such the Google news vectors, which is trained on a variety of article from
different fields, and thus can be used for general purposes. In this project, this model
will be compared with a specific word embedding model which is trained on just
clinical articles using Word2vec model.
3.3 The Main Model Figure 7: NER system example
After word embedding, the generated vectors will be processed for NER and
relation extraction, especially about medical adverse effects. There are a couple of
common methods for such tasks, such as rule based system, CRFs, and deep
learning. One or multiple LSTM layers are used to extract the context from the input
vector representations at each time step[14]. The performance of LSTM layers can be
adjusted by deploying different LSTM unit structure, tuning the input, output and
forget gates, as well as modifying the activation function.
Rule based system or CRFs can be employed to determine the tags of entities or
relation between entities based on the output of LSTM layers. In a rule based
Republican Presidential Debate Essay
The debate I am choosing to watch is the Republican Presidential Debate, and my
focus would be on examining Donald Trump s portions. The debate of course, is
about Republican candidates who are running for president (intended for the next
four years) debating to the public on who is a better choice to vote for. In the
broad sense, Republicans takes on conservative stand on issues. They believe the
federal government shouldn t play a big role in the citizen s lives. Most Republican
wants lower taxes in addition to less government spending on social programs such
as healthcare, food Stamps and education. The portions that I am looking at would
be the part where Trump talks about building a border wall and also where he speak
of immigration. It... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his whole presentation, Trump have shown countless hand gestures while
he is speaking. His hand gestures seem to go with the rhymes of his listings or
when he say things that seem to be important slowly. For example, one of the time
would be him yellowing out a fifty billion dollar, when talking about how the US
would lose a large sum of money if a trade imbalance were to happen. His hand
gesture here moves up and down, making a point that the amount is large and
important. In addition to his hand movements, Trump s head also turn several
times, and his blinking seems to be constant every seconds and endless at times.
When he talks about how he is self funding his blinks seem constant, however when
he talks about the Mexican leaders, his blinks seem endless. This shows that Trump
might be sarcastic or lying when he say he respects the Mexican leaders. When
people say something that they do not believe is true, their actions begin to put more
effort into being normal resulting in irregularity of too much effort. Other than
blinking endlessly at times, there are also times when Trump stops blinking. One of
the times when Trump stop blinking is after he finish talking about Mark
Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook) and his support on H1B. This demonstrations that
Trump may be able to control his blinking during his sessions since his eyes did not
flicker. It gives the feels that he might be trying to distract himself or his audience

The Paradox of Revenge in Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask of...
The Paradox of Revenge in Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask of Amontillado
?The Cask of Amontillado? raises a question pertaining to the multiple character of
the self (Davidson 202); Can harmony of one s self be restored once primal impulses
have been acted upon? This question proposes the fantasy of crime without
consequence (Stepp 60). Edgar Allan Poe uses first person point of view, vivid
symbolism and situational irony to show that because of man s inner self, revenge is
ultimately not possible.
Edward Davidson suggests that Montresor, the main character of the story, has the
power of moving downward from his mind or intellectual being and into his brute or
physical self and then return again to his intellectual being with his ... Show more

Both of these thoughts are developed because of the fact that Montresor is telling
the story himself. The means in which Montresor expresses himself expose his
insecurities. When he no longer hears Fortunato crying out, he says, there was a
long obstinate silence (156). The personification of the silence by the use of the
word ??obstinate? projects the intent on Fortunato, implying that Fortunato is
purposely depriving Montresor of satisfaction. But actually, Montresor seeks to
escape from his own limitations by imagining them as imposed by outside force
(Stepp 61). The force is a surrogate of the self. Every word goes to characterize the
narrator, Montresor, and adds to the irony of the story. Fifty years later he is
confessing the story and taking particular delight in his cleverness, but is unaware he
is revealing a desperate human emptiness. James Gargano makes a general statement
about Poe?s narrators that applies perfectly to The Cask of Amontillado; he says, Poe
assuredly knows what the narrator never suspects and what, by the controlled
conditions of the tale, he is not meant to suspect that the narrator is a victim of his
own self torturing obsessions (166). In this way, Montresor is a classic Poe character.
Poe s use of symbolism gives the reader the opportunity to see the conflict between
Montresor s inner self and his outer being.

In the context of Bangladesh, online advertising and affiliate marketing practice is
new and it is developing. It offers various opportunities for the content providers and
the merchants in our country. In near future, it is expected to gain more acceptability
and popularity. Already some companies have started using affiliate marketing in
Bangladesh. So, this is the time to conduct the research on such issue to understand
affiliate marketing and to disseminate the knowledge gained from findings. The
research findings are different from previous studies from the sense of uniqueness of
this paper in Bangladesh. This study is conducted to (i) investigate the knowledge of
affiliate marketing and (ii) find out the views of content providers toward it.
The remainder of the paper is designed in eleven sections. Section 2 presents the

The Individual Versus His Environment in The Stranger

The Individual Versus His Environment in The Stranger and Grendel Due to the
multifaceted nature of literature, analysis thereof is prone to generalization. One of
the most grievous generalizations oft encountered involves failing to distinguish
between a character and the novel it inhabits. Take John Gardener s Grendel and
Albert Camuss The Stranger, for instance. It s far too easy, when analyzing for
dominant ideologies, to slap them both with the label of existentialismand be done
with it. However, closer scrutiny indicates that whilst both Meursault and Grendel are
existential heroes, Grendel, unlike Meursault, exists in a solipsistic universe that runs
contrary to his ideology and thusly never experiences the catharsis that... Show more

In Camus s The Stranger, we have the platonic ideal of a book designed to promote
a certain philosophy. In John Gardener s Grendel, however, the message is not so
clear cut. Grendel, the ill fated anti hero of the John Gardener novel which bears
his name, acts primarily in the manner of an existentialist hero. He embraces his
alienation, spending the majority of his time alone; he frequently evokes the
absurd to mock those who would try and bring false meaning to a meaningless
world; and though he meets characters who embody different ideologies, all trying
to influence him towards one philosophy or another, his final whispered curse has
a heavily existential flavor. But though Grendel may be an existentialist hero,
Grendel is a hostile environment for existentialism to thrive; you see, Grendel
does not live in an existential world, like Meursault does. Grendel s universe is
solipsistic, and because he never embraces this fact, there can be no catharsis for
Grendel. Though solipsism and existentialism may appear similar at first glance,
closer inspection reveals them to be philosophical oil and water. For conclusive
proof that these ideologies do not play well together, we need only recall the
previously quoted passage from Existentialism is a Humanism, The other is
indispensable to my existence, and equally so to any knowledge I can have of
myself. If this is so, then living in a solipsistic universe
Dehumanization Of Nora
Although people abandoning their family and responsibilities as a parent and
spouse is wrong and highly frowned upon, Nora s decision to leave her life and
family behind was justified. At this point in history, women were seen more as
objects and not considered to be a person with equal rights as men or have a say so in
society. Especially in Nora s case, her whole life she was treated as a human doll, a
trophy first to her father and then to her husband, Torvald. She is considered a middle
class womanand is expected to keep a certain image both in public and with her
husband to keep his reputation and the familys social status intact and be entirely
dependent on the man of the house at the time to provide for her. She spent her whole

She was a doll on a shelf and was only played with whenever her husband felt she
was worthy of his attention. Nora tried to put up a front and keep up the picture
perfect family so that everyone, including herself, would not see the truth and the
unhappiness that she felt inside. Torvald dehumanized her by referring to her as
his little Nora , a squirrel, a skylark, a spendthrift, a child, etc. and does not
acknowledge the fact that she is a grown woman who a born him three children
and is very capable of living and thinking for herself as an individual. He expected
her to look and act the way he wanted and also to be at his beckon call sexually,
physically, and emotionally. He limited the number of macaroons she could eat
and also made a comment about her duty to please him romantically. She was so
used to her life being the way it was, she didn t know any different so she didn t
realize she had so much more potential to find true happiness in her life. At the end
of the play, she finally realized just how unhappy she was and that her whole life
had been a lie, Our home has been nothing but a playroom. I have been your doll wife
, just as at home I was papa s doll child; and here my children have been my dolls
(Ibsen 1403). She was blind to the fact that she was just a shell of the person she
could be, completely used to the treatment of her prideful and self absorbed husband

The Dehumanization And Consequences Of Slave Codes In
America
Slaves were forced to work in the colonies and already had very limited freedom,
but to make it worse slave codes was then created. Slave codes were biased laws
created by the English colonies and soon later enforced to the American English
colonies. Sometimes slave codes would differ from state to state. It restricted African
Americans rights whether they were free or not. Even if an African American was
free, they weren t truly free because of the restrictions of the slave codes. Colonists
pride themselves needing to be the more dominant and supreme person. Slave codes
were tightened after every slave rebellion, in effort to prevent them from escaping and
diminishing the chance of it happening again. The slave codes became an obstacle
that enslaved African Americans faced, taking their opportunity away to expand,
improved their population as well as their culture. Slave codes stripped enslaved
African Americans of their identity, making them forget where they came from or
belong. The slave codes stole their voice, replacing it with the colonists ignorance and
complete dominance over African Americans. The slave codes became a depiction of
the dehumanization, humiliation, and the psychological damage of subjugated
slaves. Although the constitution has wrote in fine print that all men are created
equal, the slave codes have proven the statement wrong in placement of stating some
are tortured because of their ethnicity. Slave codes affected anyone who had an ounce

Jurassic Park Quotes
Jurassic Park is classified as a science fiction book or sci fi for short. It ties
imagination and scientific fact together. There were several biological concepts that
were discussed in this thrilling story. These were the concepts that stood out to me
the most: adaption, biotechnology, and amino acid deficiency. It s amphibian DNA.
But the phenomenon happens to be particularly well documented in frogs.
Especially West African frogs, if I remember (Crichton 373). In this part of the
book, Dr. Alan Grant was explaining how a group of all female velociraptors had
managed to breed. Some amphibians, particularly West African frogs, can change sex
in a same sex environment for reproduction purposes. The velociraptors in the story
were able... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry Wu would change the DNA for the purpose of control of the animals that he
created. More specifically, he took away some of the dinosaurs ability to produce
lysine, a crucial amino acid. Foods rich in lysine. What happened to these animals?
(Crichton 399). This quote is from the end portion of the book when Dr. Grant is
informed that new animals have arrived on Costa Rica. He was also informed that
these animals were eating strictly agama beans, soy, and chickens which are lysine
rich foods. At this point in the book, it is hinted that these animals are the dinosaurs
that escaped from Isla Nublar (the island that Jurassic Park was built on). Dr. Grant
drew this conclusion because he had been previously told by Dr. Henry Wu that he
had altered the dinosaurs DNA so that they could not produce lysine themselves.
Dr. Henry Wu did this for two reasons. The first reason was that the animals would
be dependent on their Jurassic Park caretakers for specifically lysine rich food. The
second reason was that only the creators of these dinosaurs would know what they
lacked and they planned to sell branded food to people who might adopt miniaturized
versions of the dinosaurs. In this way, they could maximize the profits they made off
of their creation. But when the dinosaurs escaped, they needed to find a source of
lysine to compensate for what they lacked. Otherwise, they would not function
Sexual Fantasy Within The Odyssey

Sexual Fantasy Within The Odyssey In the Odyssey, by Homer, Homer suggests that
women can be seductive traps that prevent or delay men from reaching their goals.
The women that Odysseus encounters on his journey home in The Odyssey all
represent a different sexual fantasy figure in the eyes of a male, and serve as a
distraction that he must work around. Although the three women that Odysseus
encounters on his travels are desirable to him, the only thing that he wants is to get
home to his devoted wife. The soft, alluring, pastoral sensuality of Calypso, the
purity, youth and innocence of the young Nausicaa, and the adventurously sexy
Circe are no contest to the loyal and faithful Penelope. Penelope holds aspects of
each of these three women, making her the most sought after by Odysseus. The
goddess Calypso resides in a cave on an island. The lush and blossomed forest that
surrounds her cave symbolizes the idea of and new life, whereas the cave itself
represents a womb. Around her cave the woodland was in bloom,...Four separate
springs flowed with clear water, crisscrossing channels as they meandered through
meadows lush with parsley and blossoming violets (Odyssey, 5. 67 76). These
symbols of fertility are important to males, especially during the time period that the
Odyssey portrays when a woman s primary duty was to birth children and raise them.
Odysseus was forced to stay on the island with Calypso for
Conservatism In Death Of Grass
While the society in Solution Three falters in believing they understand and can
control the precarious link between scientific advancement and the natural world, the
characters in The Death of Grass rely heavily on scientific progress and their belief
in national superiority. John suggests that the Chung Li virus could have been
eradicated in is early stages if only the Chinese had let our people figure out a
solution sooner , introducing a blind faith in the link between politics and science
(Christopher 19). As a figure representative of the government, civil servant Roger
continues to strengthen this belief in the superiority of British scientists claiming:

While national boundaries have been restructured in Solution Three, there are
reoccurring undertones of British Exceptionalism driving the motivations of the
characters in The Death of Grass. The text problematizes this notion and instead
reveals that it is not exceptionalism that drives British society, but instead ignorance
and blind belief in government propaganda. When the Chung Li virus begins feeding
on rice throughout China and Eastern Asia, wiping out the food supply, the British
characters in The Death of Grass exhibit feelings of superiority over the Chinese in
their attitudes, asserting cultural and intellectual superiority. They blindly follow
governmental propaganda assuring them that the disaster in the East ... had been due
as much as anything to the kind of failure in thoroughness that might be expected of
Asiatics (Christopher 31). In concentrating on individual tropes such as a lack of
preparedness and assigning them to an entire ethnic group, there is a binary between
us as British, and them . In this case the other group is the unprepared Chinese,
which is deemed inferior despite any factual evidence to support this claim. With a
built up superiority, comes pride in belonging to the superior group, and
Sigmund Freud s Method and Theory of Dream Analysis

theory of dream analysis. The purpose of the paper will be to show the principals of
Freud s dream related theory that focuses on the physiology, interpretation, and
psychology of dreams and to explain concepts such as latent and manifest content of
dreams, the part of unconscious process, and the nature of dreams role in the
determination of dreamcontent. I would like to explore Sigmund Freuds explanations

There are numerous theories regarding the function of our dreams, they are mainly
based on speculation more than research. This enchanted place of consciousness is
what got me interested about dreams. Dreams are based on the individual in that
we usually dream of ourselves. I feel that greater understanding of our dreams will
have a major influence for individuals to understand themselves better. Why people
dream, what they dream of, and what is the meaning of their dreams, are topics of
interests with many types of researchers, artists, and some clinical practitioners.
Freud believed our dreams gave insight to our deep desires of love, money, and
acceptance or any yearning of the individual. The point of view of which Freud
interprets and examines the manifest of dreams content to obtain their latent
meaning is of a professional psychologist and clinical observer who looked for a way
to explain how our minds work and how the individual psychology functions. He
based his work on clinical experiences and clinical neurosis of the matter of his own
interpretations to be able to confirm his theories as a proven fact. The result Freud
gets from the patients he observes and interpretation of their dreams are stereotyped
to the complete human condition. Our dreams are objects of endless enchantment
and mystery for mankind as far back as the beginning of time. The nocturnal

twelve years old is a perfect age when kids are mature enough to take on the
responsibility of having a phone. Twelve is a milestone age when you start the
teenage world and feel ready take on the authority of being in charge. Twelve year
olds should have cell phones because cell phones help them stay connected with

Compare And Contrast The Ashcan School By George

New York and its skyscrapers were magical and mysterious wonders. Depicted
numerous ways by artists, each portrayal exhibits something new. George Bellows,
with the Ashcan School, shows New York as a vast, abundant city and wants to
promise individuals a prosperous future in the city because the influx on
immigrants at the time were giving cities a bad reputation. Alfred Stieglitz, with
his use of photography, exhibits the beauty within the city and displays it as a
piece of art because the debate on the artistic value of photography was in full
swing, and Stieglitz craved to prove that photography is a form of high art. With
Bellows and Stieglitz s artwork of New York, there is an element of appreciation
for the city. The Ashcan School established itself outside of the academy and
attempted to cultivate a sense of rebelliousness in their artwork. At the time,
immigrants were flowing into American cities and overcrowding the streets. This
left individuals picturing a city of dirt, grim, and overcrowding, which was quite an
unpleasant image. So, artists, like George Bellows in New York, began depicting
the city as a promise land overflowing with opportunity. New York portrays a grand

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the

External Hiring As I mentioned before, it was part of my strategic plan to promote
from within when plausible. I hired externally for entry level positions and most

occasionally hired externally to acquire employees with a fresh perspective. I
consulted the staffing report to view projected available positions in each level to

majority of the available jobs were in entry level positions. I chose not to hire any
employees in the first quarter because I was not sure of the simulation and used that

The Theme Of God In Design, By Robert Frost
The subject of Robert Frost s Design is simply about life and death, but the theme
here is touching upon the question of God s role in the design of nature and the
world around us. The poem is more on the dark side from the way he describes the
main characters the white spider, the heal all flower, and the moth and the way he
starts to questionwhy everything went the way it did. Was it just a random
occurrence or does God actually make terrible things, like the spider killing the moth
on a flower, happen? To begin with, the speaker starts off the poem by introducing
the main characters. There is a spider, described as whiteand fat, then there is the
heal all which is basically a flower that is used for medicinal purposes. And last but
not least, the moth, who which flutters his way into his death. The big white spider
is perched up on the white flower, holding the moth as if they purposely all
gathered together for a witches brew. With this observation, the speaker constructs
a series of questions: why is the flower, that is usually blue, now white? Why did
the spider decide on that specific flower instead of any other one? And why did the
moth happen to fly by at that certain moment? In the last line, Frost asks the question
of if this how God designed the world to be. The speaker is Robert Frost himself,
just a bystander in the distance that so happens to stumble upon this scene and
observes it enough to write about it. The poem reveals what he now thinks
What Is The Role Of Women In The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial revolution. Arguably one of the greatest moments in English and
global history. A time that had industrialized the whole of England, revolutionized
science, government, literature, machinery, and even art. However, despite these
evolutionary and forever game changing events, the Industrial Revolution had a dark
side. In order for the industrialization of England to be stable and maintained, human
hands were required in factories, mills, and mines. From dawn till dusk, men,
women, and children engaged in dangerous and hard labour and were paid far

Written by Dickens in 1815, Hard Times attempts to convince readers by illustrating
the fact that life during the Industrial Revolution was anything but pleasant for human
beings. Centred around Mr. Gradgrind and his moderately sized family, Dickens
succeeds at giving the reader a up close and personal view of what it meant to be a
father, mother, man, woman, and child during the industrial revolution. Dickens also
provides the reader with three central themes: the mechanization of human beings, the
conflict of fact versus fantasy, and the significance of the female figure. Dickens set
out with a goal in writing this novel to expose the truth on how grim the Industrial
Revolution really was for the human race. I therefore think that, through examining
various examples sprawled throughout the text in connection to the three themes,
there should definitely be enough evidence to conclude that Dickens interpretations
of the Industrial Revolution were believably similar and, in a sense, true to what
people were faced with during the 18th
Coming Of Age In Annie John

from her parents and have a mind of her own but she also has to face the threats of
reality. Annie opens a textbook to find one of the five colored pictures in the book.
The picture shows Columbus in Chains and she observes the picture fully. One

Paranoid: North Korea s Computer Operating System Mirrors Its Political One.
Reuters. Thomson Reuters, 2015. Web. 28 Mar. 2016.
James Pearson and Jeremy Wagstaff analyze Red Star OS, the internal operating
system used by the few North Koreans privileged enough to own a computer. He
compares the OS to the North Korean political system: malicious, intrusive, and
authoritarian.
Red Star OS was developed by the North Korean government to make its computer
infrastructure more independent and free of backdoors and security vulnerabilities
introduced by potentially malicious third party software vendors. The latest
version of Red Star OS is based on Fedora, a popular GNU/Linux distribution.
Although the Fedora Project actively promotes user freedom, Fedora s open source
nature has enabled the North Korean government to create a derivative that directly
contradicts Fedora s principles. On the surface, Red Star OS closely resembles OS
X. Underneath, however, lie hidden processes that surveil and supervise the user.
The system does not allow many of its core functions to be disabled, such as the
firewall and antivirus system. Users attempting to tamper with the system may be
greeted with an error message or a system halt. In addition to limiting user freedom,
Red Star OS also aims to thwart the underground exchange of unauthorized media.

Essay On Mt St. Helens
When you think about Volcanic eruptions in the Northwest you tend to think about
the Mt. St. Helens eruption in 1980. Overall there are very few eruptions around the
globe. With only 60 eruptions per year According to (Faqs). Mt. St. Helens is a
stratovolcano which is also known as a composite volcano. Located in the state of
Washington, St. Helens is known to be the youngest and most active volcanoin the
Cascade Range. An interesting fact is Mt. St Helens is the first major volcanic
eruption since 1915. (UNC Edu). Hence why so many remember the natural disaster

The misconception that a system can be quickly thrown together that will meet all
the requirements of an organization and its clients is common.
1d. The conclusions that can be drawn from Chapter 2 lead me to believe that
Jeannine can be taught to plan strategically and that she can also learn why it is
important to do so. Had Jeannine followed the proper planning process she would
have been able to resolve most of the issues that she encountered before they were a
problem.
2a. Steven failed to do several things as a Project Manager. He failed to deliver the
product on time and within budget, as well as managing expectations. His failures
were a result of poor planning, prompt or advance requesting of resources, and a
failure to communicate with his team, management and the end user. Steve s job as
the PM is to monitor progress, ensure key stakeholders keep their people focused on
the task and prevent delays, or if delays occur communicate those issues to
management. Managing stake holders and keeping them focused on requirements
and due dates goes a long way towards preventing problems. Steve seems to have
failed at this.
2b. Using the creeping requirements as an excuse seems to be a mistake as it implies
project mismanagement. If the project had been properly monitored scope creep
could have been detected early and managed.
2c. As the PM, Steven should have been aware of what was occurring in the project

A Comparison Of Japanese Colonialism InThe Man In The
High...
The Man in the High Castle presents a colonized and divided the United States that
belongs to Germany, Japan, and a buffer zone. Philip Dick states that the Japanese
colonizers have a reflection of the western ideals and values. The Japanese mimicked
the American culture by developing an interest in talking English and improvement
of their social status. Japanese adopted the American culture and acquired American
historical objects while retaining their customs and attitudes. The Japanese occupying
the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle
owned by the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own
attitudes, history, and culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically
condemns the Japanese for not understandingand appreciating the real meaning of
America. The paper argues against Childan perceptionon Japanese failing to
understand America because of lack of common ground.
Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his
arts and crafts. Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle
occupied by Japanese administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to
understand the real America. The Japanese understood the American customs because
they parasitized the American way of life. Childan prejudiced against America
because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails to
understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American
customs and history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America
but the Japanese do because of developing an interest in the country (338). The
Japanese understands the version and uniqueness of America and not as how Childan
perceives their understanding.
Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep
the zone underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the
real America is bias. The Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American
culture and historical objects (Dick, 335). The ability to imitate and simulate the
customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the Japanese understand
the real America.
Women s Roles During Times of War Essay
Women s Roles During Times of War
Despite the prevalence of war goddesses in most traditions from China to Greece
to Ireland, women have been separated from the front lines of war for centuries.
Western tradition claims that women are not made for war, but for household work:
sewing, cleaning, cooking, and looking after children. Society told women to carry
brooms in lieu of swords; to collect firewood instead of ammunition, and to keep
house rather than protect a nation. Yet, for centuries, women have fought their
peoples wars, even if they never lifted a sword or fired a rifle.
We rarely hear of these women, though, because they were not on the front line. The

Women boycotted other goods and did their best to support their soldiers2. Some
women were forced to host British soldiers, known as Red Coats, in their homes3,
but they forbore and awaited the end of the war and the return of their husbands and
sons as free, independent men.
Other Revolutionary War women chose to leave the comforts of their homes
behind and join the men at war. It was rare for a woman to take up arms and fight
as a soldier, but they did as best they could, given their strict social roles. A prime
example of this is Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley, better known as Molly Pitcher. She
followed her soldier husband as he fought. Molly Pitcher earned her title at the Battle
of Monmouth when she brought water to the fallen soldiers on the field4. Women
were so taken with following the soldiers camp that the Women of the American
Revolution calls the Camp Followers one of Washington s head aches5.
As was traditional during times of war, women took over their husbands roles during
the American Revolution. Women learned to manage businesses, schools6, and
farms. They boarded enemy soldiers, taught schools, conducted letter writing
campaigns7, and enacted political activity. Yet, all of this came to a halt when the
Americans won the war and the British retreated. The rights these brave women had

An Article about Roadside Memorials Essay
For the past two decades, roads became more than a medium of transportation. They
turned into places that hold symbolic meaning to certain families in the form of
roadside memorials. Roadside memorials are stone markers that serve the purpose of
honoring the lives of those killed in automobile accidents. They usually take the
shape of a Christian cross, whereby the name of the deceased is carved in the cross s
horizontal line. Normally surrounding the memorial are flowers and other gifts to
illustrate grief. This stone is situated at the location of the person s death. Roadside
memorials are put there by the family and relatives of the victim as a method of
immortalizing their memory. It reassures them that although the person has died,...

Since most roadside memorials are shaped in the form of the Christian cross, they
represent a religious symbol in a public space, and therefore violating the law. Even
though some assert that roadside memorials are distracting, the reality is that they
are too small to cause any trouble. Several articles and documents have provided
evidence to support the memorial s insignificantly small size. For instance it is
mentioned in the article Roadside Memorials that the typical memorial is between 1
and 3 feet high with a breadth of about 1ВЅ feet. The article also states that if you are
between 50 to 100 yards away from the memorial, it would be challenging to see it
(Collins and Rhine 238). Therefore, it is highly unlikely for most drivers to spot
roadside memorials. However, restrictions should be added to ensure that the
memorials remain in a size that is not big enough to cause trouble. Additionally,
opponents to the idea of the memorials argue that they should be removed for
distracting drivers, but do not make such an argument against billboards and other
commercial signs. These signs are much larger than roadside memorials and are
usually more colorful, meaning they are much more likely to grab the attention of
drivers. Therefore, supporting the removal of roadside memorials, but not billboards
would be applying a double standard judgment. If the opponents of the placement of
roadside memorials do not argue that billboards are distracting, they should not have

Environmental Impact of Aviation Aviation contributes approximately 2 percent of

Although fuel efficiency has improved by nearly 16 percent since the 1990s, future

When these droplets settle to the ground, usually they are spread over a wide area,

analysis and impact criteria will certainly undergo a profound change in the next
millennium. Significant improvements in technology, in conjunction with regulatory
mandates, have reduced noise impacts steadily over the last 20 years. This
downward trend, which is based on today s evaluation metrics, is expected to
continue through 2025. However, as the volume of operations continues to increase,
so too will the overall noise impact and footprint. One would expect noise standards
and models to change also. For example, in response to public sensitivity, the U.S.
National Park Service has already begun review and consideration of new noise
standards in wilderness areas. (Hill, 2010 17 22) A survey completed by the
Government Accounting Office of the 50 busiest commercial airports, accounting for
80% of air carrier operations in 1998 revealed that noise, water, and air quality were
the top three concerns. About 90% of the management of these airports thought that
balancing environmental concerns with airport operations was much more or
somewhat more difficult than it was in 1989. Because 13 of these facilities were at

Critical Review Of Educating Rita
Review of Educating Rita
Educating Rita is a dramatic and comedic play about the differences in social class

The director of the play was Barry McKenna, who has previously directed for That

In Educating Rita, only two people are shown on stage, Rita and Frank. Dawn

Frank. Ian Burns is British as well and is also the co founder of That Theatre.
Furthermore, he has featured in multiple other plays, in Denmark and directed by
Barry McKenna, such as Proof and Blood Brothers.
Language is of very high importance in Educating Rita. Dawn Wall made a great
effort in emphasizing Rita s roots and social status by staying in a Liverpool
inspired Scouse accent, almost throughout the entire play. This was in stark contrast
to Frank s posh and upper class dialect which was combined with a very intellectual
and wide vocabulary. Dawn Wall s way of speaking, use of slang and multiple vulgar
words, definitely gave her character much more life than Ian Burn s character Frank.
In addition to that, Rita also had multiple outfit changes whereas Frank stayed in the
same shirt, positioning the same sweater in different ways on himself throughout the
Examples Of Transformation In Night By Elezer Wiesel
To alter is to change or to become different or modified. That is exactly what
happens to the character, Eliezer Wiesel, Elie for short. The book Night is an
autobiography by Elie. Night is about the struggles Elie and his father go through
after being transported to a concentration camp. Elie s love for his father is the only
reason he keeps going. Elie and his father have some ups and downs, but make it
through together. Over time he feels trapped and confined by the responsibility of
keeping his father alive. All throughout Night, Elie s relationship with his father is
transforming, throughout that process, Eliezer himself is transformed. As Elie s
family entered the concentration camp, the family was immediately separated. Men
to the left! Women to the right! Eight words spoken quietly, indifferently, without
emotion. Eight simple, short words... Yet that was the moment I left my mother...
There was no time to think and I already felt my father s hand pressed against mine:
we were alone... I kept walking, my father holding my hand. (Wiesel 29). Elie
briefly explains that one of the guards said the eight words with no heart. The prison
guard was heartless. When Elie says There was no time to think he didn t only mean
no time to comprehend the situation, but also no time to say goodbye to his mother
and three sisters. At the time, Elie did not know it, but his mother and little sister
would be heading straight for the crematorium. Elie innocently depended on his
father for
The Ethics Of Eating By Eric Dickers Analysis
Unfavorable Towards Employers When it comes to figuring out an author s point
of view, it can be simple or complicated. We have to pay close attention to the
author s text and ideas to claim a single point of view by analyzing the tone,
diction, purpose, and modes of discourse. Readings can have a favorable,
unfavorable, neutral, or an ambivalent point of view depending on how the other
chooses their words. An author can easily demonstrate how they feel about the
topic they are writing such as Eric Haas. Through his writing in his essay, The
Ethics of Eating , we can see Haas does not support the maltreat of farm workers. It
is common farm workers have one of the low paying jobs, but being treated bad by
their employers is wrong. Haas is very clear about this subject in his writing. The
Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers the essay by Eric Haas, has an
unfavorable point of view towards employers mistreating their farm workers. In
The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers by Eric Haas, the author starts off
by mentioning a trip he took with Slow Food Portland members in search for the
origins of their food. He states they were going to meet with farm workers and visit
their homes which are provided by their employers, or by nonprofit organizations
such as the Farm worker Housing Development Corporation also knows as FHDC.
He then continues by claiming that food being grown and distributed in our country
is harmful to our health, but that problem is already
Rational Actor Model
There are many different models to explore why young people offend; Rational
Actor, Predestined Actor and Victimised Actor (Stephenson M and Allen R. 2013).
In exploring two of these models I will be using a case example CH. In looking at
CH offending behaviour, it could be viewed that he fits in to the Rational Actor
model. This model explores the idea that young people had the choice to offend; CH
woke up and made the choice to go and rob someone in order to obtain money to get
cannabis. The benefit of the offending behaviour out weights the consequences; CH s
need to get high out weight the consequences of being arrested for a serious offence
which could lead to custody. With this in mind the view of tacking offending
behaviour of a young person that fits with the Rational Actor is that the punishment
must out weight the benefits of the behaviour and must become harsher, greater and
more serious as the offending escalates; options for sentencing was DTO (Detention
and training Order) for a significant length of time or Youth Rehabilitation Order with
Intense supervision (YRO 25 hours a week). Adapted from Hopkins Burke (2008: 88)
the five points the Rational Actor model: Humans are rational beings who enjoy free
will. People choose to engage in criminal behaviour. Society must punish criminals to
deter individuals wrongdoers and other would be criminals. Punishment should be
proportional to the offence committed. Punishment must be guaranteed and
Gender Studies Class Analysis
Coming in to this class I didn t know half the things I know now about gender
studies and social justice for women. I knew the basic topic in gender studies but
couldn t go into depth if asked. Taking this allowed me to gain an insight on
different topics that go on in the world dealing with women s and men s social
justice rights. I was able to learn how women lack equal rights. This course taught
me to think historically on issues surrounding women and equal rights. Since I am a
female, I can think historically and put myself in other women shoes and attempt
gain the perspective of what women faced in the early 1900 s to the late 2000 s. The
goals of genderstudies and feminismin the 21 century were to make it known that
girls are a part of the world too. Women since the early 1900 s face gender
inequalities; whether it s in the work place, or in societal aspect. The goal of gender
studies is to acknowledge how women were treated in early history of American
civilization and how it correlates in today society. However being that that was the
main point that feminist groups and gender studies wanted to get across, it wasn t the

For example, over decades there have been issues concerning women after attaining
their college degree. Men in comparisons to women reportedly receive a higher
salary than women. Although women may have the same the credentials men
women still lack in fields such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
(STEM). I want to pin point STEM fields because women increasingly lack
representation. Whether it s because how women are viewed in the workplace or
whether their capable of putting in the amount of time that s required to work.
Masculinity and femininity plays a valuable role in the workplace. From researching
this topic that deal with women in education allowed me to gain better knowledge of
what lies ahead after finishing
How Did Raphael Influence The School Of Athens
In 15th century, during the height of the Italian Renaissance, new artist were
maturing with their vast understanding of philosophy and humanism. This period of
the Renaissance would produce some of the most dynamic artist the world has ever
seen, such as; Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Of the three central
Italian Renaissanceartist, Raphael is accurately the most fascinating of the group.
Born in a small town in Umbria near Urbino, Raphael would learn most of his basic
skills from his father, Giovanni Santi, who was a painter himself. However at a young
age he would enter in an apprenticeship with Pietro Perugino at the Umbrian school.
Although strongly influenced by many great artist, Raphael developed an individual

Depicting all the great philosophers of the ancient world gathering within a
Christian Basilica, and being overlooking by the Greek gods, Raphael was able to
bridge the gap between pagan and Christian philosophies. He used elaborate colors
and shadowing to form each individual character. The paintings backdrop provides it
with sense of linear perspective and provide all the central elements of Renaissance
art. It is very symbolic that many of the ancient philosophers are model after the
Renaissance artist, for they were now the world great philosophers within their own
right. After completion of the School of Athens, Raphael represent what the Italian
Renaissance movement was all about. In his lifetime, Raphael completed hundreds of
art work, but none would validate his work more than the School of
Wallace Stevens Accomplishments
Wallace Stevens, one of the most well known American modernist poets. He has
revolutionized the modernist style of poetry and his poetry is an inspiration to all
who read it. His poetry is renowned for its vivid imagery and themes.
Wallace Stevens was one of the most famous modernist poets and his impact on
poetry will forever be remembered. Wallace Stevens was always into poetry, even
when he went to college. While at Harvard Stevens contributed poems and short
stories to the campus literary magazine (American Cultural Leaders).Stevens never
got a degree when he went to Harvard but he went to work as a reporter at the New
York Tribune. (Stevens, Wallace).Wallace Stevens was one of the most brilliant
modernist poets of all time.Stevens poems, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Stevens was awarded: Yale University s bollingen prize in poetry (1949); The gold
medal of the poetry society of America (1951) and the Pulitzer Prize (1955) to
name a few (Literary Cavalcade).Critics later like Harmonium and it is said that his
later years were his best. Wallace Stevens will always be remembered as one of the
great modernist American Poets. Wallace Stevens ability to transcend the limits of
experience, combined with his technical prowess as a poet, makes for
otherworldly poetry of the everyday world. You can see this in his poem simply
titled Anecdote of the Jar . On first glance, this poem seems insignificant and not
very interesting but if you look at it closely the beauty shines through. The poem
can seem dry and boring when he describes the jar, And round it was... the jar was
gray and bare (lines 2 and 10). Even though these lines might seem boring it is part
of Stevens Imagist poetry style that stressed absolute precision in presenting the
image itself rather than oblique description. Another interesting aspect of Stevens
poetry is that it can be perceived multiple ways. The jar was round upon the ground
/ And tall and of port in the air. This line could be read as the jar being round, tall,
and large; or the port could be a metaphor comparing the jar and air to the port and
sea, a passage way (lines 7 8). It (the jar) did not give of bird or bush. The line could
be perceived

Beneath the Ashes
Whenever someone hears the name, Pompeii, one event comes to mind: the eruption
that demolished it. Most people simply know this society only for the incident that
buried it for centuries. They do not fully understand the importance of the culture
underneath the ashes. The catastrophic events that took their toll on the ancient city
of Pompeii, though tragic and unforgiving, serve as fundamental historical insight
into the Pompeian culture and the calamity that demolished this central portion of the
Roman Empire.
Mt. Vesuvius, a dormant stratovolcano, had not erupted for over 71, 500 years. The
city of Pompeii was isolated from all that was outside of its borders. The only other
natural disaster recorded in the area was on February 5, 62 AD, when a major
earthquake occurred in the epicenter of Pompeii (Modigliani). This severely damaged
the town, causing buildings, temples, and houses to collapse. The society was
ignorant to natural disasters, so many were unsure how to react. Because of this, a
significant portion of the population evacuated the city after the severe quakes. The

This is not true, for Vesuvius is one of the smallest active volcanoes in the world
(Barnes, 42). In fact, the eruption in 79 was not even Mount Vesuviuss most colossal
eruption. Vesuvius was an active volcanoboth before and after it demolished
Pompeii. There have been over 70 eruptions in the last 17,000 years, notably altering
the recovery of the historical site (Brilliant, 31). Eight of these major eruptions are
alleged as even more severe than the one that demolished the Pompeii. The reason
that the 79 AD eruption is acknowledged so highly is the fact that it created a natural
time capsule of the Roman Empire, allowing archaeologists a glimpse into the

The concise and flexible grammar makes Python looks like pseudocode, so that users can spend more time on algorithms, instead of coding and debugging, which makes Python one of the most favorite programming languages of scientists and researchers. In addition, due to its open source nature, plenty of libraries have been developed, which nearly cover all the existing research fields, especially scientific computation and artificial intelligence. Therefore, Python language and relevant libraries, such as NLTK, Scikit learn, Tensorflow, and Keras, are the main tools in this project. The Paradox of Revenge in Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask of Amontillado ?The Cask of Amontillado? raises a question pertaining to the multiple character of the self (Davidson 202); Can harmony of one s self be restored once primal impulses have been acted upon? This question proposes the fantasy of crime without consequence (Stepp 60). Edgar Allan Poe uses first person point of view, vivid symbolism and situational irony to show that because of man s inner self, revenge is ultimately not possible. Edward Davidson suggests that Montresor, the main character of the story, has the power of moving downward from his mind or intellectual being and into his brute or physical self and then return again to his intellectual being with his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these thoughts are developed because of the fact that Montresor is telling the story himself. The means in which Montresor expresses himself expose his insecurities. When he no longer hears Fortunato crying out, he says, there was a long obstinate silence (156). The personification of the silence by the use of the word ??obstinate? projects the intent on Fortunato, implying that Fortunato is purposely depriving Montresor of satisfaction. But actually, Montresor seeks to escape from his own limitations by imagining them as imposed by outside force (Stepp 61). The force is a surrogate of the self. Every word goes to characterize the narrator, Montresor, and adds to the irony of the story. Fifty years later he is confessing the story and taking particular delight in his cleverness, but is unaware he is revealing a desperate human emptiness. James Gargano makes a general statement about Poe?s narrators that applies perfectly to The Cask of Amontillado; he says, Poe assuredly knows what the narrator never suspects and what, by the controlled conditions of the tale, he is not meant to suspect that the narrator is a victim of his own self torturing obsessions (166). In this way, Montresor is a classic Poe character. Poe s use of symbolism gives the reader the opportunity to see the conflict between Montresor s inner self and his outer being.

The Individual Versus His Environment in The Stranger and Grendel Due to the multifaceted nature of literature, analysis thereof is prone to generalization. One of the most grievous generalizations oft encountered involves failing to distinguish between a character and the novel it inhabits. Take John Gardener s Grendel and Albert Camuss The Stranger, for instance. It s far too easy, when analyzing for dominant ideologies, to slap them both with the label of existentialismand be done with it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Camus s The Stranger, we have the platonic ideal of a book designed to promote a certain philosophy. In John Gardener s Grendel, however, the message is not so clear cut. Grendel, the ill fated anti hero of the John Gardener novel which bears his name, acts primarily in the manner of an existentialist hero. He embraces his alienation, spending the majority of his time alone; he frequently evokes the absurd to mock those who would try and bring false meaning to a meaningless world; and though he meets characters who embody different ideologies, all trying to influence him towards one philosophy or another, his final whispered curse has a heavily existential flavor. But though Grendel may be an existentialist hero, Grendel is a hostile environment for existentialism to thrive; you see, Grendel does not live in an existential world, like Meursault does. Grendel s universe is solipsistic, and because he never embraces this fact, there can be no catharsis for Grendel. Though solipsism and existentialism may appear similar at first glance, closer inspection reveals them to be philosophical oil and water. For conclusive proof that these ideologies do not play well together, we need only recall the previously quoted passage from Existentialism is a Humanism, The other is indispensable to my existence, and equally so to any knowledge I can have of myself. If this is so, then living in a solipsistic universe

The Dehumanization And Consequences Of Slave Codes In America Slaves were forced to work in the colonies and already had very limited freedom, but to make it worse slave codes was then created. Slave codes were biased laws created by the English colonies and soon later enforced to the American English colonies. Sometimes slave codes would differ from state to state. It restricted African Americans rights whether they were free or not. Even if an African American was free, they weren t truly free because of the restrictions of the slave codes. Colonists pride themselves needing to be the more dominant and supreme person. Slave codes were tightened after every slave rebellion, in effort to prevent them from escaping and diminishing the chance of it happening again. The slave codes became an obstacle that enslaved African Americans faced, taking their opportunity away to expand, improved their population as well as their culture. Slave codes stripped enslaved African Americans of their identity, making them forget where they came from or belong. The slave codes stole their voice, replacing it with the colonists ignorance and complete dominance over African Americans. The slave codes became a depiction of the dehumanization, humiliation, and the psychological damage of subjugated slaves. Although the constitution has wrote in fine print that all men are created equal, the slave codes have proven the statement wrong in placement of stating some are tortured because of their ethnicity. This quote is from the end portion of the book when Dr. Grant is informed that new animals have arrived on Costa Rica. He was also informed that these animals were eating strictly agama beans, soy, and chickens which are lysine rich foods. At this point in the book, it is hinted that these animals are the dinosaurs that escaped from Isla Nublar (the island that Jurassic Park was built on). Dr. Grant drew this conclusion because he had been previously told by Dr. Henry Wu that he had altered the dinosaurs DNA so that they could not produce lysine themselves. Dr. Henry Wu did this for two reasons. The first reason was that the animals would be dependent on their Jurassic Park caretakers for specifically lysine rich food. The second reason was that only the creators of these dinosaurs would know what they lacked and they planned to sell branded food to people who might adopt miniaturized versions of the dinosaurs. In this way, they could maximize the profits they made off of their creation. But when the dinosaurs escaped, they needed to find a source of lysine to compensate for what they lacked. Sexual Fantasy Within The Odyssey Cassidy Bulger Professor Isser Montserrat September 22, 2015 Sexual Fantasy Within The Odyssey In the Odyssey, by Homer, Homer suggests that women can be seductive traps that prevent or delay men from reaching their goals. The women that Odysseus encounters on his journey home in The Odyssey all represent a different sexual fantasy figure in the eyes of a male, and serve as a distraction that he must work around. Although the three women that Odysseus encounters on his travels are desirable to him, the only thing that he wants is to get home to his devoted wife. The soft, alluring, pastoral sensuality of Calypso, the purity, youth and innocence of the young Nausicaa, and the adventurously sexy Circe are no contest to the loyal and faithful Penelope. Penelope holds aspects of each of these three women, making her the most sought after by Odysseus. The goddess Calypso resides in a cave on an island. The lush and blossomed forest that surrounds her cave symbolizes the idea of and new life, whereas the cave itself represents a womb. Around her cave the woodland was in bloom,...Four separate springs flowed with clear water, crisscrossing channels as they meandered through meadows lush with parsley and blossoming violets (Odyssey, 5. 67 76). These symbols of fertility are important to males, especially during the time period that the Odyssey portrays when a woman s primary duty was to birth children and raise them. Odysseus was forced to stay on the island with Calypso for

While national boundaries have been restructured in Solution Three, there are reoccurring undertones of British Exceptionalism driving the motivations of the characters in The Death of Grass. When the Chung Li virus begins feeding on rice throughout China and Eastern Asia, wiping out the food supply, the British characters in The Death of Grass exhibit feelings of superiority over the Chinese in their attitudes, asserting cultural and intellectual superiority. They blindly follow governmental propaganda assuring them that the disaster in the East ... had been due as much as anything to the kind of failure in thoroughness that might be expected of Asiatics (Christopher 31). Why people dream, what they dream of, and what is the meaning of their dreams, are topics of interests with many types of researchers, artists, and some clinical practitioners. Freud believed our dreams gave insight to our deep desires of love, money, and acceptance or any yearning of the individual. • 15. Compare And Contrast The Ashcan School By George Bellows... New York and its skyscrapers were magical and mysterious wonders. Depicted numerous ways by artists, each portrayal exhibits something new. George Bellows, with the Ashcan School, shows New York as a vast, abundant city and wants to promise individuals a prosperous future in the city because the influx on immigrants at the time were giving cities a bad reputation. Alfred Stieglitz, with his use of photography, exhibits the beauty within the city and displays it as a piece of art because the debate on the artistic value of photography was in full swing, and Stieglitz craved to prove that photography is a form of high art. With Bellows and Stieglitz s artwork of New York, there is an element of appreciation for the city. The Ashcan School established itself outside of the academy and attempted to cultivate a sense of rebelliousness in their artwork. At the time, immigrants were flowing into American cities and overcrowding the streets. This left individuals picturing a city of dirt, grim, and overcrowding, which was quite an unpleasant image. The Theme Of God In Design, By Robert Frost The subject of Robert Frost s Design is simply about life and death, but the theme here is touching upon the question of God s role in the design of nature and the world around us. The poem is more on the dark side from the way he describes the main characters the white spider, the heal all flower, and the moth and the way he starts to questionwhy everything went the way it did. Was it just a random occurrence or does God actually make terrible things, like the spider killing the moth on a flower, happen? To begin with, the speaker starts off the poem by introducing the main characters. There is a spider, described as whiteand fat, then there is the heal all which is basically a flower that is used for medicinal purposes. And last but not least, the moth, who which flutters his way into his death. The big white spider is perched up on the white flower, holding the moth as if they purposely all gathered together for a witches brew. With this observation, the speaker constructs a series of questions: why is the flower, that is usually blue, now white? Why did the spider decide on that specific flower instead of any other one? And why did the moth happen to fly by at that certain moment? In the last line, Frost asks the question of if this how God designed the world to be. The speaker is Robert Frost himself, just a bystander in the distance that so happens to stumble upon this scene and observes it enough to write about it. The poem reveals what he now thinks

I therefore think that, through examining various examples sprawled throughout the text in connection to the three themes, there should definitely be enough evidence to conclude that Dickens interpretations of the Industrial Revolution were believably similar and, in a sense, true to what people were faced with during the 18th

The latest version of Red Star OS is based on Fedora, a popular GNU/Linux distribution. The system does not allow many of its core functions to be disabled, such as the firewall and antivirus system. Users attempting to tamper with the system may be greeted with an error message or a system halt. • 25. A Comparison Of Japanese Colonialism InThe Man In The High... The Man in the High Castle presents a colonized and divided the United States that belongs to Germany, Japan, and a buffer zone. Philip Dick states that the Japanese colonizers have a reflection of the western ideals and values. The Japanese mimicked the American culture by developing an interest in talking English and improvement of their social status. Japanese adopted the American culture and acquired American historical objects while retaining their customs and attitudes. The Japanese occupying the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle owned by the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own attitudes, history, and culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically condemns the Japanese for not understandingand appreciating the real meaning of America. The paper argues against Childan perceptionon Japanese failing to understand America because of lack of common ground. Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his arts and crafts. Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle occupied by Japanese administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to understand the real America. The Japanese understood the American customs because they parasitized the American way of life. Childan prejudiced against America because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails to understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American customs and history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America but the Japanese do because of developing an interest in the country (338). The Japanese understands the version and uniqueness of America and not as how Childan perceives their understanding. Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep the zone underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the real America is bias. The Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American culture and historical objects (Dick, 335). The ability to imitate and simulate the customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the Japanese understand the real America.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since most roadside memorials are shaped in the form of the Christian cross, they represent a religious symbol in a public space, and therefore violating the law. Even though some assert that roadside memorials are distracting, the reality is that they are too small to cause any trouble. Several articles and documents have provided evidence to support the memorial s insignificantly small size. For instance it is mentioned in the article Roadside Memorials that the typical memorial is between 1 and 3 feet high with a breadth of about 1ВЅ feet. The article also states that if you are between 50 to 100 yards away from the memorial, it would be challenging to see it (Collins and Rhine 238). Therefore, it is highly unlikely for most drivers to spot roadside memorials. However, restrictions should be added to ensure that the memorials remain in a size that is not big enough to cause trouble. Additionally, opponents to the idea of the memorials argue that they should be removed for distracting drivers, but do not make such an argument against billboards and other commercial signs. These signs are much larger than roadside memorials and are usually more colorful, meaning they are much more likely to grab the attention of drivers. Therefore, supporting the removal of roadside memorials, but not billboards would be applying a double standard judgment. If the opponents of the placement of roadside memorials do not argue that billboards are distracting, they should not have

The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers the essay by Eric Haas, has an unfavorable point of view towards employers mistreating their farm workers. In The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers by Eric Haas, the author starts off by mentioning a trip he took with Slow Food Portland members in search for the origins of their food. He states they were going to meet with farm workers and visit their homes which are provided by their employers, or by nonprofit organizations such as the Farm worker Housing Development Corporation also knows as FHDC. He then continues by claiming that food being grown and distributed in our country is harmful to our health, but that problem is already
  • 40. Rational Actor Model There are many different models to explore why young people offend; Rational Actor, Predestined Actor and Victimised Actor (Stephenson M and Allen R. 2013). In exploring two of these models I will be using a case example CH. In looking at CH offending behaviour, it could be viewed that he fits in to the Rational Actor model. This model explores the idea that young people had the choice to offend; CH woke up and made the choice to go and rob someone in order to obtain money to get cannabis. The benefit of the offending behaviour out weights the consequences; CH s need to get high out weight the consequences of being arrested for a serious offence which could lead to custody. With this in mind the view of tacking offending behaviour of a young person that fits with the Rational Actor is that the punishment must out weight the benefits of the behaviour and must become harsher, greater and more serious as the offending escalates; options for sentencing was DTO (Detention and training Order) for a significant length of time or Youth Rehabilitation Order with Intense supervision (YRO 25 hours a week). Adapted from Hopkins Burke (2008: 88) the five points the Rational Actor model: Humans are rational beings who enjoy free will. People choose to engage in criminal behaviour. Society must punish criminals to deter individuals wrongdoers and other would be criminals. Punishment should be proportional to the offence committed. Punishment must be guaranteed and

I knew the basic topic in gender studies but couldn t go into depth if asked. Taking this allowed me to gain an insight on different topics that go on in the world dealing with women s and men s social justice rights. I was able to learn how women lack equal rights. This course taught me to think historically on issues surrounding women and equal rights. Since I am a female, I can think historically and put myself in other women shoes and attempt gain the perspective of what women faced in the early 1900 s to the late 2000 s. The goals of genderstudies and feminismin the 21 century were to make it known that girls are a part of the world too. Women since the early 1900 s face gender inequalities; whether it s in the work place, or in societal aspect. The goal of gender studies is to acknowledge how women were treated in early history of American civilization and how it correlates in today society. However being that that was the main point that feminist groups and gender studies wanted to get across, it wasn t the only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although women may have the same the credentials men women still lack in fields such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). I want to pin point STEM fields because women increasingly lack representation. Whether it s because how women are viewed in the workplace or whether their capable of putting in the amount of time that s required to work. Masculinity and femininity plays a valuable role in the workplace. From researching this topic that deal with women in education allowed me to gain better knowledge of what lies ahead after finishing

How Did Raphael Influence The School Of Athens In 15th century, during the height of the Italian Renaissance, new artist were maturing with their vast understanding of philosophy and humanism. This period of the Renaissance would produce some of the most dynamic artist the world has ever seen, such as; Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Wallace Stevens will always be remembered as one of the great modernist American Poets. Wallace Stevens ability to transcend the limits of experience, combined with his technical prowess as a poet, makes for otherworldly poetry of the everyday world. You can see this in his poem simply titled Anecdote of the Jar . On first glance, this poem seems insignificant and not very interesting but if you look at it closely the beauty shines through. The poem can seem dry and boring when he describes the jar, And round it was... the jar was gray and bare (lines 2 and 10). Even though these lines might seem boring it is part of Stevens Imagist poetry style that stressed absolute precision in presenting the image itself rather than oblique description. Another interesting aspect of Stevens poetry is that it can be perceived multiple ways. The jar was round upon the ground / And tall and of port in the air. This line could be read as the jar being round, tall, and large; or the port could be a metaphor comparing the jar and air to the port and sea, a passage way (lines 7 8). It (the jar) did not give of bird or bush. The line could be perceived
  • 44. Pompeii Research Paper Beneath the Ashes Whenever someone hears the name, Pompeii, one event comes to mind: the eruption that demolished it. Most people simply know this society only for the incident that buried it for centuries. They do not fully understand the importance of the culture underneath the ashes. The catastrophic events that took their toll on the ancient city of Pompeii, though tragic and unforgiving, serve as fundamental historical insight into the Pompeian culture and the calamity that demolished this central portion of the Roman Empire. Mt. Vesuvius, a dormant stratovolcano, had not erupted for over 71, 500 years. The city of Pompeii was isolated from all that was outside of its borders. The only other natural disaster recorded in the area was on February 5, 62 AD, when a major earthquake occurred in the epicenter of Pompeii (Modigliani). This severely damaged the town, causing buildings, temples, and houses to collapse. The society was ignorant to natural disasters, so many were unsure how to react. Because of this, a significant portion of the population evacuated the city after the severe quakes. The towering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not true, for Vesuvius is one of the smallest active volcanoes in the world (Barnes, 42). In fact, the eruption in 79 was not even Mount Vesuviuss most colossal eruption. Vesuvius was an active volcanoboth before and after it demolished Pompeii. There have been over 70 eruptions in the last 17,000 years, notably altering the recovery of the historical site (Brilliant, 31). Eight of these major eruptions are alleged as even more severe than the one that demolished the Pompeii. The reason that the 79 AD eruption is acknowledged so highly is the fact that it created a natural time capsule of the Roman Empire, allowing archaeologists a glimpse into the
