English II
EOC Practice 1
Directions: You are going to look at and complete a real English II EOC released for
practice by the N.C. department of Education. It's a long test, so I am going to break it
down into multiple assignments for you. To complete this assignment, follow the steps
below carefully. Please open this sample test on the DPI website. You will use this
document to submit your scores and reflection – see below.
Step 1: Open the link to the sample test. It will open in a new window.
Step 2: Select the Test Name: English II Released Form
Step 3: You can select a font size and a color theme, but I suggest leaving those as is
unless you know you need alterations.
Step 4: Click Login
Step 5: A new screen will open. On test day, you will have information to fill in here, but
since this is practice you can skip it and click Start.
Step 6: The first thing you will come to is a sample item. You know this by looking in the
top right corner at the page numbers. The test folks want you to have a sample test to
practice with so you know how all the buttons work. Try it out. It will give you feedback
on what's happening - and this is not feedback you will get on the actual test.
Step 7: Once you move through the first four sample pages, you will begin the actual
practice.
Step 8: Read the following items and record your answers on paper. You will be able to
compare these answers to the answer key when you are done. The practice test will
NOT save your answers, so you must do this yourself on paper. After you read the
assignments test items, you will report your scores (how many right and wrong) and
submit them with a paragraph reflection explaining what you did well, what you need to
improve, and how you plan to improve. You can also let me know how I might help you.
Submit the scores and the reflection on this document.
