The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 was a Soviet supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft that entered service in 1970. It had a top speed of Mach 2.83 and was powered by two turbojet engines. The MiG-25 had a twin-finned, high-wing design with swept wings and a variable-angle tail plane to improve stability at high speeds and angles of attack. It carried four air-to-air missiles and was fitted with powerful radar and other avionics for interception missions.
