This study analyzed news articles published by BuzzFeed from 2007 to 2015 to examine how the organization adapted its news production over time. The findings show that after 2012, BuzzFeed increased the number of news stories and sources per story, shifted to producing more hard news and political coverage, and relied more on official sources. This demonstrates that BuzzFeed gradually adopted news routines expected of traditional news organizations and transitioned from primarily spreading viral content to original reporting, positioning itself as a legitimate news source for digital natives.
