Seeking to explore local and organic sources at the southern end of the Willamette Val- ley, the location on Blair Street seemed to fit right into the pirate Whitaker neighborhood. It quickly became a well-known Eugene institution, winning several awards on a yearly basis for affordability and vegetarian food from readers of the Eugene Weekly. Laughing Planet Eugene does all its own food preparation on the premises and works with local and regional purveyors to create an independent, “Eugene” version of the concept. Laughing Planet Eugene introduced the first kids’ menu to the Planetary system, and fostered the opportunity for a ton of Surata tempeh to get into the Portland market via the 4 Laughing Planets there.
