This document presents a study on low-cost wireless mesh communications utilizing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and OpenWrt routers, which helps improve communication in remote areas lacking infrastructure. The research demonstrates the effectiveness of a prototype system that establishes a VoIP server and SIP clients on routers, achieving significant reception distances under line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight conditions. Performance metrics including throughput, ping time, and packet loss were measured, showing promising results for both short and long-distance communications.
