2. There are “numerous” occasions where we
can use numbers: math, science, talking
about the time, the date, or how old we are.
And that’s just a few!
3. 0 Cero
1 Uno
2 Dos
3 Tres
4 Cuatro
5 Cinco
6 Seis
7 Siete
8 Ocho
9 Nueve
10 Diez
Numbers 0-10 are the
basis of the counting
system.
Once you have learned
these, it will make learning
the rest of the numbers
easier!
4. 11 Once
12 Doce
13 Trece
14 Catorce
15 Quince
16 Dieciséis
17 Diecisiete
18 Dieciocho
19 Diecinueve
20 Veinte
Starting with 16, you are literally
saying 10 and “name of number.”
For example, 16 is Diez y Seis.
However, we combine it to make
one word: Dieciséis
*Make sure to note
that 16 has an
accent marks
5. 21 Veintiuno
22 Veintidós
23 Veintitrés
24 Veinticuatro
25 Veinticinco
26 Veintiséis
27Veintisiete
28 Veintiocho
29 Veintinueve
30 Treinta
Just like 16-19, you are saying 20 and
“name of number.” For example, 24 is
Veinte y cuatro. However, we combine
it to make one word: Veinticuatro
With 21-29, you will use 20 plus the
basic 1-9 numbers that we learned
earlier
*Make sure to note
that 22, 23 and 26
have accent marks
6. In Math, we not only need to know the
numbers, but how to say plus, minus, etc.
Plus: Mas
Minus: Menos
Equals: Es or Son
◦ Es: When the answer is 0 or 1
◦ Son: When the answer is anything else
Por ejemplo: 5+1=6 cinco mas uno son seis
4-3=1 cuantro menos tres es uno
7. When talking about age (edad) in Spanish, we
have to think of the english translation a little
differently.
◦ Rather than thinking: How old are you?
◦ Think: How many years do you have?
I know that sounds silly, but when asking age
in Spanish, that is literally what you are
saying
8. Español Ingles
¿Cuántos años tienes? How old are you? (familiar)
¿Cuántos años tiene usted? How old are you? (formal)
Yo tengo ___ años I am ___ years old.
Mas Plus
Menos Minus
Es Equals (0 or 1)
Son Equals (any other number)
9. Begin studying numbers 0-30 and the
vocabulary mentioned on slide 8. We will have
a Vocabulary Test on Thursday, October 10th.
