The Lone Star Conference women's soccer weekly release provides an update on the 7 conference teams. Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's are both undefeated after one week. The conference teams are currently 8-5-2 overall and 4-2-2 against other regional conferences. Sophie Haywood of Texas A&M-Commerce and Maddie Vickroy of Texas Woman's are named offensive and defensive players of the week. Several other top individual performances are also highlighted. LSC WOMEN’S SOCCER
The season is in progress for all seven Lone Star Conference soccer teams. Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Woman’s and
West Texas A&M are both unbeaten after one week of non-conference action.
The women’s teams are 8-5-2 overall this season. The squads are currently 4-2-2 combined versus Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference teams, and 0-1 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other conferences in the NCAA
South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Sophie Haywood, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Forward, Hull, England, Longcroft School
Haywood scored a goal in each of the Lions' wins last week. Both of her goals were game-winners in victories over
Florida Tech 2-0 and Central Oklahoma 2-1. Haywood also had four shots on goal and averaged 70 minutes of game play
per contest as the Lions started the season 2-0.
DEFENSIVE
Maddie Vickroy, Texas Woman's University, FR, Goalkeeper, McKinney, TX, McKinney Boyd High School
Vickroy tallied two shutouts on opening weekend in her Pioneer debut. The freshman made a pair of saves in a 1-0
victory against sixth-ranked Colorado School of Mines Friday and followed up that performance with five saves against
Regis while playing all 110 minutes in the double overtime tie, including two crucial stops in the final minute against the
Rangers.

2. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Trenadey Scott, Angelo State University, started the Belles off right in their 2017 season opener, scoring her first goal
less than ten minutes into the game against Central Oklahoma. She then built on the ASU lead with her second goal of
the first half in the 36th minute. The sophomore led the team in shots (8) and shots on goal (4) on the weekend.
Kaitlin Caro, Eastern New Mexico University, scored on two of her first three shots as a Greyhound. She tallied a pair
of second-half goals in the opener against Fort Lewis, as Eastern opened the season with a double-overtime tie.
Marlene van Mourik, West Texas A&M University, continued where she left off last season with a goal and an assist to
lead the Lady Buffs to a 2-0 record to open the 2017 season. van Mourik scored the game winner in a 2-0 win over Fort
Lewis on Sunday and had the assist in the lone goal in the opener against Adams State. van Mourik led the team with 12
shots and eight on frame this week. She has played 166 minutes of the 180 so far this season
Chelsea Martin, Texas Woman's University, scored her first goal of 2017 three minutes into the season Friday against
sixth-ranked Colorado School of Mines, which proved to be the game winner. The senior midfielder fired off three shots
against the Orediggers and notched a game-high five shots Sunday against Regis in a 0-0 double overtime tie.
Courtney Dippel, West Texas A&M University, logged all 180 minutes in the Lady Buffs' two wins over Adams State
and Fort Lewis this weekend. Dippel had four saves and faced 10 shots, recording two shutouts and a 2-0 record. She
now has ten career shutouts and improved to 18-14-1 all-time.
Sammy Cude, Angelo State University, got her first clean sheet of the season out of the way early, shutting out UCO in
the Belles' season opener. ASU won the game 3-0 and the California native had five saves to help preserve the shutout.
She allowed her first goal of the season on Sunday against Florida Tech, but stopped another eight shots in the matchup.
Her eight saves against the Panthers matched a career-high set last season against Eastern New Mexico.
Caitlin Duty, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had seven saves for the Lions in their two wins last week. She
recorded a shutout with four saves against Florida Tech. She also made a game-saving stop in the 87th minute in the
Lions' win over Central Oklahoma. She had a save percentage of .875.

Angelo State
Belles went 1-1 at the Lion Soccer Classic in Commerce, Texas with a 3-0 win over Central Oklahoma and a 1-0 loss to
Florida Tech. Sophomore Trenadey Scott scored twice in the opener and is already halfway to her total number of goals
scored in 2016. Sophomore goalkeeper Sammy Cude had eight saves in Sunday's game against Florida Tech, matching a
career high set against Eastern New Mexico last season.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico women's soccer team had a wild opening week, as both games went into double overtime.
Kaitlin Caro tallied two goals against Fort Lewis as ENMU opened their second straight season with a tie. The Hounds
also struck first against Adams State, but dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker. This week, ENMU will travel to San Antonio, Texas
to take on Texas A&M International and St. Mary's.
Midwestern State
1-1 last week.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The No. 15 Lions picked up two wins last week. They defeated Florida Tech in a 2-0 shutout and had a come-from-behind
2-1 win over Central Oklahoma. This was A&M-Commerce's first win against UCO since 2001. The Lions are 2-0 for the
first time since 2014. They face St. Mary's at home on Friday and St. Edward's on the road Sunday.

3. Texas Woman’s
TWU took down sixth-ranked Colorado Mines, 1-0, Friday and forced a double overtime 0-0 tie with Regis Sunday.

West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M women's soccer team began the season 2-0 with a pair of shutouts at home against Adams State
(1-0) and Fort Lewis (2-0)...The Lady Buffs were led by sophomore Marlene van Mourik who had the game winner
against Fort Lewis and an assist, while recording a team-high 12 shots with eight on frame in 166 minutes of
action...Freshman Calista Cordero scored her first collegiate goal as the insurance score late in the win over Fort Lewis
and sophomore transfer Samantha Silvestre scored the first goal of the season in the 75th minute on Friday against
Adams State in a 1-0 win...Junior goalkeeper Courtney Dippel recorded two shutouts for 10 for her career and a pair of
wins in all 180 minutes of action...She had four saves and faced 10 shots for the week...Sophomore Shanelle Arjoon and
junior Khadidra Debesette each had assists for the week...WT concludes its three-game home stand Thursday at 5:30
p.m. versus New Mexico Highlands at The Pitch...Head coach Chad Brown improved to 66-59-12 all-time as the head
coach of West Texas A&M women's soccer.
