Angelo State leads the Lone Star Conference standings with a 3-1 conference record and 9-1-1 overall after wins over West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico last week. Sierra Anderson of Angelo State was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring goals in both wins. Ashley Exford of Angelo State was named Defensive Player of the Week after helping the team record two shutouts. Several other top performers from different teams were also highlighted for their performances last week. The standings and schedules for upcoming conference matchups this week are provided.

LSC SOCCER
Angelo State leads the Lone Star Conference with nine points (3-1) after two wins last week. LSC play continues
this week with three games on Friday and two on Saturday.
The women’s teams are 31-21-8 overall this season. The squads are currently 8-6-3 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 10-5-1 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Sierra Anderson, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Wichita Falls, Texas, Wichita Falls HS
Anderson led the Belles to two conference wins over West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. She scored
against WT Friday night for her sixth goal of the season which proved to be the game-winner. The senior
forward has three game-winning goals on the season. Two days later, Anderson scored her seventh goal and
31st of her career to propel the Belles to 1-0 win over ENMU. Anderson leads the Lone Star conference in shots
(43), shots per game (3.91) and is second in goals.
DEFENSIVE
Ashley Exford, Angelo State University, JR, Fort Worth, Texas, Keller Fossil Ridge
Exford spearheaded a Belles defense that recorded two shutouts against West Texas A&M and ENMU. She
continues to lead Angelo State in total minutes played at 934. The junior defender has helped the Belles post
six shutouts this season and three in Lone Star Conference play. Exford also assisted on Sierra Anderson’s goal
against WT.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Destinee Williamson, Midwestern State University, recorded her second two-goal performance of the
season Friday in a 2-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico. Her first goal came in the 15th minute, receiving a ball
from Lauren Fambrough before getting a shot off from the left side of the box. In the 20th minute, Williamson
collected a pass from Haley Britton before racing by the ENMU defense and firing from inside the six-yard box.
On the season, Williamson leads the Mustangs with four goals and eight points. She is currently tied for fifth in
the LSC with .44 goals per game and tied for seventh with .89 points per game.
Sydney Hickerson, West Texas A&M University, scored the lone goal for the Lady Buffs over the weekend. Her
strike in the 37th minute was her second of the season and first in LSC play.
Vicky Back, Texas A&M University - Commerce, scored the equalizer in the second period of Thursday’s tie
against Texas Woman’s. Back is currently the LSC leader in goals, points, and game winners and is second in
shots taken.
Haley Britton, Midwestern State University, helped Midwestern State record their fifth shutout of the season
and finish 2-0-0 on the weekend against Lone Star Conference opponents. Britton, who has played all but
11 minutes for the Mustangs this season, also helped MSU on the offensive side of the ball by assisting on
Destinee Williamson’s second goal in a 2-0 win over Eastern New Mexico. Defensively, the Mustangs rank 24th
nationally with a .556 shutout percentage and 27th with a .636 goals against average.
Ariana Morrison, Texas Woman’s University, played all 110 minutes and made a career-high 11 saves in the
net for TWU in a 2-2 tie against Texas A&M-Commerce. She stopped all six shots she faced in the first half to
keep the game tied at 0-0. On the season she continues to lead the conference in saves (60) and saves per
game (6.00).
Courtney Dippel, West Texas A&M University, allowed two goals while making six saves during the Lady Buffs
two matches this past weekend. She had a shutout against Midwestern State before being substituted out due
to injury.
Courtnie Northern, Texas A&M University - Commerce, recorded eight saves against Texas Woman’s on
Thursday evening in Denton after facing 24 shots. The Lions and Pioneers went on to tie 2-2, making each of
Northern’s saves pivotal.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team will open its final home stand of the season on
Friday against Texas A&M-Commerce. The Greyhounds host Texas Woman’s on Sunday.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State hosted Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M last weekend, returning home for the
first time since the opening week of the season. The Mustangs blanked the Greyhounds, 2-0, before posting
a comeback win over the Lady Buffs, 3-1. Sophomore forward Destinee Williamson accounted for both goals
against ENMU while junior forwards Nicole Coetzer and Aly Wade and senior midfielder Morgan Hannon
recorded scores against WTAMU. Midwestern State will host Colorado State-Pueblo in a non-conference
meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. before concluding the week Friday at 7 p.m. against No. 5 Angelo State in a
battle of the top two Lone Star Conference teams at MSU Soccer Field.
Texas A&M-Commerce
Texas A&M-Commerce soccer played just one game in the last week, a tie with Texas Woman’s 2-2 in Denton.
The Lions got goals from Vicky Back and Savannah Grasser, while senior keeper Courtnie Northern tallied 8
saves and faced 24 shots. The Lions visit ENMU and WTAMU in LSC play over the weekend. The Blue and Gold
(1-0-2) are the only team without a conference loss to this point in the season.
Texas Woman’s
TWU is 5-3-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in the Lone Star Conference after playing to a 2-2 tie in the only game
last week against Texas A&M-Commerce. All four goals were scored in the second half. The Pioneers’ senior
goalkeeper made a career-high 11 saves including six in the scoreless first half. Sophomore Megan Coppedge
and freshman Ashley Bishop scored the goals for TWU while senior Natalia Diaz assisted on both TWU goals.
Junior Chelsea Martin also picked up the assist on Bishop’s goal. On the season Diaz is the leader on offense
with three goals, six assists and 12 points. Bishop and junior Gabby Larson has two goals each. Morrison has
a 0.86 GAA and .870 save percentage.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs dropped both of their matches last week to Angelo State and Midwestern State. WT was unable
to capitalize on any of its offensive opportunities against ASU in the first half before allowing a penalty kick. The
Rambelles added another in the second half to hand the Lady Buffs their first conference loss of the season.
Against MSU, the Lady Buffs grabbed the lead in the first half behind a strike from Sydney Hickerson. WT lead
the Mustangs, 1-0 at halftime. The second half belonged to MSU as they scored three goals in the 45 minutes.
