Loma Linda Home Case Study
This letter is to address our move from our current home in Loma Linda to the new home in
Redlands. First, we have a growing family with 2 adults, 2 children and a mother–in–law who lives
with us full time. We have currently outgrown our house in Loma Linda and as they continue to
grow, additional space is needed for each of their bedrooms. Currently, our Loma Linda is 2600 sq
feet and this new home will provide us with over 3,100 sq feet and room to add and upgrade this
home to our family's needs. In addition, my mother–in–law can longer go up the stairs at the 2–story
Loma Linda house while the Redlands property is a single level house and will be ideal for her to
have access to the entire house and for safety so that she doesn't get injured

Loma Linda Medical Center: A Case Study
My mom is one of the housekeeping who work at Loma Linda Medical Center. Last year on July
2014, my mom injured herself at her workplace. She fell from a ladder while she was trying to clean
one of the curtain. When i heard the news that my mom was injured and admitted to the Emergency,
i was panicked and shocked. I went to the ER right away to visit her and she was in a terrible
condition at that time. She was in so much pain and kept on crying due the pain that she has to deal
with at that moment. I decided to be by her side and comfort her until she feel better. I was really
worried and did not know what to do to lessen her pain. I decided to pray and ask for God's grace to
help lessen her pain. She never experienced this type of injury

The Blue Zone By Dan Buettner
There are certain parts in the world called Blue Zones. Dan Buettner and a team of researchers
including a National Geographic team searched all over the world looking for these Blue Zones
what they called the Blue Zones study. Blue Zones are the hot spots for longevity. Individuals living
in these particular Blue Zones live to be over 100 years old. The overall life expectancy for
Americans is about 77 years of age. The life expectancy for a woman tends to be approximately five
years longer than a male. There are four hot spots and they all have something in common and
something different than the others. Buettner and his team researched the Blue Zones and their
similarities and differences for weeks.
The first Blue Zone is Okinawa, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elders provide wisdom, love and motivation for all younger ones. Like the Okinawans, Sardinians
have a plant based diet using sheep cheese, goat's milk and meat as an accent not the main course.
The third Blue Zone is Loma Linda, California. In the Loma Linda community they are Adventists.
They volunteer which reduces stress and creates a sense of purpose. It makes an activity for
Adventists with the same interests and skills. Volunteering connects them, bringing them closer and
closer every time they work together. They are a very tight group of people. They take time to spend
with their friends and for potluck socials. They have groups like Okinawan moais. Adventists find a
place to observe the Sabbath every week from Friday to Saturday night. They focus only on their
family, friends, nature, and, most importantly, God. They maintain a healthy body weight which
helps keep cholesterol levels and blood pressure down. Some of the vegetables and fruits they eat
reduce the chance of lung, ovarian and prostate cancer. They eat lots of nuts which also reduce the
risk of heart disease and increase their life expectancy by two years. Adventists eat big breakfasts,
lunch and then a light dinner which helps with sleep and lowers BMI.
The last Blue Zone is Nicoya, Costa Rica. Nicoyans get a healthy amount of sunlight and Vitamin D
everyday, making the chance for osteoporosis and heart disease lower. Like the Adventists they have

The Medical Delivery For Underserved Populations By Loma...
(1) Describe the extent and source of your knowledge of Loma Linda University School of
Medicine (LLUSM). (750 characters max)
After conducting some research, LLUSM 's opening in 1909 has diligently been training prospective
physicians coupled with service by means of Christian values. Being a distinguished and reputable
institution, it combines preparation of a strong Christian foundation, diagnosing patient illness and
offsetting future disease via preventative measures. LLUSM 's greeting of universal demographics,
offering numerous research opportunities on top of clinical trials makes it well rounded in reaching
out to the community. Fueling medical delivery to underserved populations is what drives their
mission in teaching prospective physicians the balance between healing, teaching ministry as well as
successfully implementing caring and compassion.
(2) What makes LLUSM particularly attractive to you? (750 characters max)
For over 100 years, LLUSM has been dedicated to strategically heal and teach the Christian ministry
via health care, service, research, teaching prospective physicians, and spirituality. I 'm intrigued by
the network of 6 hospitals coupled with its local and global involvement. I am grateful of LLUSM 's
quick action in traveling to Haiti after the devastating earthquake as well as performing scheduled
trips to the Amazon to reach out those without healthcare. Since medicine is advancing on a daily
basis, I acknowledge that a high–tech learning

My First Clinical Shift At Loma Linda Veterans Affairs...
For my fifth clinical shift at Loma Linda Veterans Affairs Medical Center, my assigned preceptor
Filipina Gumangan assigned me two patients on the 4NW unit. The particular section of the unit
where I precept is an intensive care step down unit. Filipina's objective for giving me two patients
this shift was to give me an opportunity to practice time management; this meant I was responsible
for many clinical duties corresponding to the care of these patients. My patients this shift were Mr.
C, a 62 year–old Vietnam War veteran newly diagnosed with acute kidney failure, and Mr. H, a 63
year–old Vietnam War veteran in the hospital to rule out appendicitis. Caring for these patients
taught me more about the humanbecoming perspective of nursing and showed me about
multidisciplinary coordination with peers, colleagues, and more.
My clinical duties performed this shift involved practicing many of the skills I have learned
throughout this nursing program and practicing time management. That morning, I was responsible
for getting a good hand off report of both patients during our walking rounds. I then went on the
computer charting system to acquaint myself with both of my patients and get organized with my
plan of care for the day. I reviewed the laboratory results and active orders for both patients. After
organizing myself, I conducted full head–to–toe assessment, which were then recorded on each of
the patients' electronic charts. With Filipina's help, I removed medications for

What Are The Similarities Between Beautiful And...
Christina Arguilera – Beautiful and Beyonce – Pretty Hurts have some similarities and differences
between them. The two songs were both created to boost confidence and communicate to insecure
people. Some similarities between the two is the intended audience, the mood, and the subject. The
intended audience for the two is insecure people. The mood for the two is powerful because they
made me feel beautiful. The subject for the two is you are beautiful no matter what. The differences
between the two is the speaker, the tone, the purpose, and the theme. The speakers are Christina
Aguilera and Beyonce. The tone of Pretty Hurts is neutral because she wasn't mad, she just doesn't
like how they are taking our natural beauty away. The

Occupational Therapy Career Goals
My career goal is to become an Occupational Therapist and specialize in pediatrics. I want to
specialize in pediatrics because I have always loved to be around children and be able to help them
in whatever they need. Also, pediatrics is important to me because kids are our future and if I can
help kids for their future I will be glad to do so. Helping kids become more independent on their
activities of daily living makes me happy because I am helping them to become more independent
and make them feel like they can accomplish anything. In order to be able to do this I have to get a
Master Degree and I plan on getting this degree from Loma Linda University. In five years I see

The Godfather, The Exorcist, And The Silence Of The Lambs
The Godfather, The Exorcist, and The Silence of the Lambs are three films that are often given the
title "greatest of all time" in their respective genre, for very good reason. Each film consists of
scenes that are crafted so unforgettably that the scenes leave each viewer with a sense of awe, shock,
and horror when each scene is carefully examined. The Godfather, distributed in 1972 by Paramount
Pictures, was directed by Francis Ford Coppola who in an interview said in regards to his
filmmaking that "If you don't take a risk then how are you going to make something really beautiful,
that hasn't been seen before?" (1). The Godfather certainly presented cinema with iconic and
memorable scenes that were both beautiful and never before seen largely due to the new and risky
ways Francis Ford Coppola presented The Godfather's narrative. Similarly, The Exorcist chilled the
bones of audiences everywhere by shocking the world with grueling demonic possession in a
tangible way that had never been presented before by cinema. The scenes in The Exorcist were
particularly memorable because the scenes resonated with a large majority of American audiences
who came from religious backgrounds where demonic possession is a sincere possibility; never
before had a film brought Americans face–to–face with The Devil, Hell, and sin by means of horror.
Horror was also a key element in Jonathan Demme's 1991 classic The Silence of the Lambs. Horror
made each scene very memorable, particularly when

The Selfish Linda Loman in Arthur Miller's Death of a...
The Selfish Linda Loman in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman
Linda, a character from Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" is a selfish housewife. She pretends
to care about her husband, but in reality, prefers that he kill himself so that she can live an easier
life.
Linda is given nothing but motive for wanting her husband, Willy, to die because of the ways he
mistreats her. For example, during a family conversation in Act I, Linda, trying to put in a few
words, says, "Maybe things are beginning to change–," with Willy coming in right after her, "(wildly
enthused, to Linda)Stop interrupting!..."(1187) Linda, trying desperately to be a part of the
conversation, is constantly denied her voice. Always under Willy's control, ... Show more content on

Their whole marriage has been a lie and Linda strives for a moment of peace. Too scared to reveal
the truth, Linda holds her motives in and allows Willy to trip until he falls.
Along with her motives, Linda attempts to keep any voice of reason away from Willy, showing that
her selfish desire of her well–being is more important than his. In a discussion with her boys in Act
I, Linda says, "I'm– I'm ashamed to. How can I mention it to him? Every day I go down and take
away that little rubber pipe. But, when he comes home, I put it back where it was. How can I insult
him like that?"(1184) Linda claims that acknowledging the truth about Willy's possible attempt to
kill himself is an insult. But, in order to develop a solution to any preoblem, one must start with the
truth. Linda merely wants to accommodate Willy's mental problems rather than get rid of them,
causing him to stay in his troubled state of mind. In another conversation in Act II, Linda tries to
push Biff away from speaking with his father:
"Linda: You're not going near him. Get out of this house!
Biff: (with absolute assurance, determination) No. We're going to have an abrupt conversation, him
and me.
Linda: You're not talking to him."(1221)
Linda does not want Biff talking to Willy in fear that her indisposed attemp to keep Willy in his
troubled state of mind will be unraveled. But in reality, Willy needs to hear the truth rather than the
promotion of a dead–end dream. Linda,

Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman By Arthur Miller
Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller
1245 Words 5 Pages
Death of A Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, is a play based on the turmoil within an average
American family. Miller wrote Death of A Salesman easily showcasing the elements of drama. I was
easily able to follow the plot, identify with his characters, and picture the setting.
The main theme of the plot seemed to be Willy reaching for the "American Dream". Financial
success, business success, outwardly perfect family, revered by your peers, and in general respected
by all. Early on in the play two things are evident to the reader; Willy 's questionable mental status,
and his tumultuous relationship with his sons.
Willy is apparently suffering from some sort of mental or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Wagner 's. He is also unable to come to terms with his own advancing years as a salesman. He only
goes to Mr. Wagner to ask for a job strictly in New York when Linda insists. What he sees as
valuable experience others see as obsolete. Willy longs for the days when the boys revered him and
they were pals.
Scott Foll states the driving point of plot is conflict (1182). This play definitely has the ultimate
conflict. That is simply, family. Conflict with Willy and Biff, Willy with himself, and Linda with her
sons. For me the turning climactic point is when while talking with Ben, Willy believes he can
regain what he lost years ago with Biff by ending his life. He thinks the twenty–thousand from the
insurance money will fix it all. I suppose the resolution in this play was Willy 's death. Although I do
not imagine this could truly be resolution for the remaining family.
Characterization seemed to be the most well developed element of the play. The patriarch of the
family, Willy Loman was portrayed as the tragic hero. I believe his character did indeed possess
some character flaws that inevitably led to his death. However, I agree with the character summary
written in Spark Notes that Willy never achieved the self–realization or self–knowledge to be
labeled a true tragic hero (Miller). He never fully realizes is personal failures, even with his death.

The Importance Of Volunteering For Your Volunteer Service
There are a number of ways in which I plan to make a difference to the world, one way of offering
my volunteer services to a number of organizations that I am assisting with. As a member the
AAUW of Redlands I plan to make a difference by committing to help support local women in the
community that hope to empower themselves in many aspects of their lives. Volunteering for me
means that I am able to provide support to anyone that needs it thus, this not only enable's me to
meet new people, but make friends and form a lasting relationship with others that have the same
vision and drive as me. I believe that volunteering is just one form of how you can help make a
difference to someone, but there are simpler ways to make a difference too, such as helping your
disabled neighbor with running errands and picking up a few items from the local grocery store for
them. This is what I do for my neighbor and she appreciates the help and I feel a sense of
satisfaction that I have helped make life little easier for my neighbor. We support each other when
we can and it is quite a blessing to be able to help and support each other when in need. I also help
at my son's soccer team as a parent volunteer in the CAPS Program run by the Loma Linda
University Church. It is a program that aims to promote healthy living habits for children and the
Goal4Health is a soccer program which enables all ages of children to take part in a sporting
physical activity to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Re-Articulation Of Music Analysis

theme of re–articulation was seen in the 1991 song 'Treaty' by aboriginal Australian group Yothu

A Summary Of A Reflection On The Movie 'Cinda Kozolithe'
A Reflection Paper on the movie "crocodile Dundee"
Crocodile Dundee is a movie about the story of an American reporter Sue Charlton (Linda
Kozlowski) and Michael J, or "Crocodile Dundee" (Paul Hogan). In this movie, Linda Kozlowski
acts as Sue Charlton and Paul Hogan Acts as Michael Crocodile Dundee. This movie is written by
Paul Hogan, John Cornell, and ken Shadie. It is directed by Peter Faiman. An American reporter,
Sue traveled to the northern territory to a town called walkabout creek. It is a small village where
people live together and lead their life by hunting and very simply. Michael or crocodile Dundee is a
real hunter who subdues crocodile easily. Crocodile Dundee is very friendly person in his culture
who walks through the bushes freely with confidence and pride. Crocodile Dundee is a character
who rides horses and subdue buffalos. Crocodile Dundee is representative of the Australian Bush
culture. After watching this movie, I have understood how the main character Crocodile Dundee is
influenced by his Masculinity culture and cultural competence.
Crocodile Dundee lives in a culture in which masculinity has a means of power, respect, and pride.
According to our textbook "communication: interpersonal communication" in a highly masculine
culture, men are valued for their aggressiveness, material success, and strength. I think the main
character crocodile Dundee's aggressiveness toward to the animals and people around him is the
direct result of the culture he lives. For example, his aggressiveness toward the people he met in a
small pub, him killing a snake without any weapon, and saving Sue from crocodile accident while
she was in the water were how he express his aggrieves and strength to survive in a masculinity
culture in which what he did result in appreciation and respect among the people he shares the same
culture. Based on our text, "members of masculine cultures are more likely to confront directly and
to fight out any differences competitively think that is the main reason he instead solving problems
with conversation uses force to get what he wants. For example, he didn't take the conversation
lightly when a cup driver with the ladies talked to him rather he punched him in the face. I think

Don T Bring Me Down Meaning
The lyrics form a message to the people who are insecure or being bullied for who they are.
Christina starts off by narrating and says "don't look at me," which foreshadows the shame she or
other people feel about themselves and also sets the tone of the song. "Every day is so wonderful.
Then suddenly it's hard to breathe," expresses what one feels when someone bullies or throws out
words at them. A person's actions and words can affect how a person feels about themselves. "From
all the pain, I'm so ashamed," interprets how a person can't change themselves for others. "I am
beautiful no matter what they say. Words can't bring me down" is a thought every single person
should keep in mind when they're being looked down upon. The word beautiful ... Show more

The visual of the song begins with a destroyed flower representing unattractiveness. It goes on with
young people and adults half naked signifying the insecurity they have about themselves and their
bodies. There are different actors representing different situations people go through. An anorexic
girl looking at herself in the mirror is shown. She stares at herself for a while and as the song goes
on she ends up breaking the mirror. The mirror represents the view other people see when looking at
her, the reason why she broke the mirror was to finally feel like she accepted herself as she is. A gay
couple is shown together and everyone that passes by stares at them. They realize they are silently
being judged but do not pay attention. They start to kiss in public without caring about the
judgmental stares they are receiving. Another character presented is a man wanting to bring out his
feminine side without hesitation. In the end he puts on his feminine clothing and wig. He expresses
himself by being feminine even after hesitating whether or not to get dressed as a woman. Many
more characters are presented to represent the different people who are mistreated for being
different. Everyone smiles in the end and there is a sense of acceptance of themselves. The video
ends with a blossomed flower which represents beauty that each person has. The visual illustrates
that words can hurt people and some do

My love for orthodontics has developed at a young age when my confidence has shined after

topic to me. Coming from an Egyptian background has increased my interest in learning how the
evolution of teeth has changed across different ethnicities throughout centuries. My fascination for
the specialty has grown when I shadowed orthodontists and noticed that cases are presented in a way
where teeth need to be puzzled together to create a beautiful smile. Also, expressing a personality
that loves to connect with people and their families makes orthodontics a very enjoyable field.
Orthodontic patients are usually excited about coming in and moving forward with their treatment,
this leads to having a friendly environment where everyone works together to provide the highest

Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy has always stood out to me. The faith–based learning
and commitment to Christian principles is the type of learning environment I desire to be in. I
personally feel that everyday life responsibilities such as working or going to school gradually take
us further away from God. Everyday life tasks and struggles distract us from living the way God
intended us to live. We are conditioned by society to worry about how much more money we can
earn or how many more material objects we must own. I have been guilty of straying away from
God during my early undergrad years. I was always too busy to go to church. My mentality was that
Sundays were just another day to study for school.
For the most part I was doing fairly well in my junior year of undergrad studies, but I realized that I
was putting work and my education first before God. I thought I was taking the wrong path in life.
As I was researching different pharmacy schools, I learned that the Loma Linda University's library
was closed on Saturdays due to Sabbath. This inspired me to do the same. Instead of going to the
library and studying all day like I would usually do, I started to go to church to worship and learn
more about the word of God. Even though I studied less by resting on Sundays for Sabbath, my
grades dramatically changed. That year I received straight A's for which I have never

There is so much that I feel should have been covered in the didactic year and so much that could
have been taught with greater success now that I am at the end of my rotations. After reviewing the
material from the Duke University PA program and comparing it to the Loma Linda program I feel
that there is great room for improvement and a higher standard to be achieved. I am bewildered at
the minimal clinical exposure, which was required of us during the didactic year given the close
proximity of a world renowned hospital just walking distance from the classrooms. I am still
completely shocked that not a single student that I know of rotated through the main Loma Linda

My First Clinical Day At Loma Linda Veterans Affairs...
For my third clinical day at Loma Linda Veterans Affairs Medical Center, my assigned preceptor
Filipina Gumangan assigned me one patient on 4NW. The specific portion of the unit where I
precept is an intensive care step down unit. Filipina's objective for giving me one patient this shift
was to give me an opportunity to practice complete care; this meant I was responsible for many
clinical duties corresponding to the care of this patient. My patient this shift was Ms. R. She was a
66 year–old Vietnam War veteran recovering from general surgery. Caring for this patient showed
me a different perspective of nursing as well. My clinical duties performed that day involved
practicing many of the skills I have learned throughout this nursing program. Initially, I was
responsible for getting a good hand off report during our walking rounds that morning. I utilized the
method Filipina had showed me during our first shift together. I went according to systems and this
way I began to create a picture of Ms. R condition. She was there because she had a partial
colectomy. During this procedure, the surgeons removed parts of her large intestine due to her
history of bowel obstruction. She had an ostomy, which required that I put special care towards the
newly created stoma. I was responsible for a full head–to–toe assessment. In addition, I was
responsible for recording my findings on her chart in the computerized system. I passed her
medications and was responsible for explaining what

Linda,

Social Networks, Spirituality, And Physical Activity
Dan Buettner's (2009) claim that Blue Zones can be found in the world where there is a history of
people living a longer life than normal influenced by lifestyle choices such as diet, social networks,
spirituality, and physical activity is questionable. A few of these blue zones that
Buettner (2009) researched are Sardinia, Okinawa, and The Seventh–Day Adventists in Loma

different lifestyles, and yet the community members seem to have a longer lifespan than most.
Studying the way that the people of these communities live their lives daily has given us a better

Gender Stereotypes Of The Twentieth Century Entertainment...
Gender stereotypes
In the last few decades the daily lives of Americans is revolving around about what the
entertainment media has displayed for them. Society has been influenced by the media with movies,
advertisements and news that are constantly bombarding us. Entertainment media has given
Americans a taste of the films that display a traditional housewife woman and heroic male figures.
However, today's media has offered a new perspective on how a woman or man can act. These
stereotypes have been making a difference for woman and men by allowing them to be able to
express their individuality. In many Disney movies, gender stereotypes have been changing from the
typical idea of what a woman's image should be. The twentieth century ... Show more content on

A & P John Updike Analysis
In John Updike's best known story "A&P", a tale of a young 19 year–old boy name Sammy, who
works in a local supermarket ; A&P, as a cashier. Sammy is attempting to tell the story of why he
impulsively quit his job one day. He narratively gives a very vivid description of everything that
happens. Sammy acts decisively when standing up for what he thinks is right. Standing up for what
you believe in is an essential life skill. Sammy recalls on that day three barefoot teenage girls, in
bathing suits walking into the store. "In walks these three girls in nothing but bathing suits" (Updike
1). He ogles them from his work station throughout the store, and conveys a very clear image of
their actions. He categorizes them based on their looks and what they were wearing. Sammy says
things like, There was this chunky one, with a two piece...", and also "... there was this one, with one
of those chubby berry faces, the lips all bunched together under her nose" (Updike 1). The way he
describes the last of the three girls would cause you to grasp the idea that he was fond of her. He
tells us that she was tall with black hair. He goes on to explain that other girls would think she was
very striking and or attractive. He proclaims her as a queen. Sammy declares, "She was a queen" (
Updike 1) "She kind of led them, the other two peeking around and making their shoulders round.
She didn't look around, not this queen..." (Updike 1). He kids about a girl's mind and how it works.

Unemployment insurance, which is portrayed so poorly in the media, has created only one percent
of debt growth. In comparison one of the largest weights on the deficit was police, military and
prison spending. McQuaig delivers the message that if people were really concerned about chipping
away at the debt wall, they would be cutting back on police and prisons. McQuaig effectively
presents arguments which give impressive evidence that we are continually being misled by the
people in power. I believe this book has been an important step for me in considering the future of
our country. It is my generation who will benefit from McQuaig's detective work. McQuaig delivers
her findings and her opinions in a clear and concise manner. Her book is well written and is a

effectively analyzed the problem of the deficit in a book that was easy to read because of its voice.
At no point did I feel that McQuaig was speaking on an elevated level. She was truthful and if an
opinion was voiced it was also proven. McQuaig delivers the problem as she sees it after all the

of which are unrealistic, such as her suggestion for less police and military funding, and some of
which make terrific sense. She points out that the "powers that be" are not

Aladdin The Musical Reflection
The theater was largely attended by children and toddlers. To my surprise, I noticed that there were a
decent number of adults attending the show too. I was not sure if they were dragged into the show
by their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I was
dragged into the theater to watch Aladdin the Musical with my younger siblings during a family
outing in Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it felt like I
was the only one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could find and
criticize me. Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a foundation for
their own plot. The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of Agrabah with the help
of a powerful genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take over the kingdom of Agrabah
by abusing the genie's powers. As the emcee made his announcements, I assumed that I would fall
asleep on the cushioned seat from all the boredom I would experience from a children's fairytale.

they need not to reenact that scene. I also believed that the performance could have had more
backstory. For example, the performance did not inform the audience that Princess Jasmine was

Everything in my life that has happened thus far has contributed to the reasons why I am deciding to
apply for a master's degree in Social Work at Loma Linda University. My family's experiences and
circumstances during my childhood would led to social workers to be involved in my life. While I
was growing up, my mother struggled with drug addiction to methamphetamine. Until I was thirteen
I was raised by my grandma with my three brothers. At 13, my grandmother passed away. My
mother was regranted custody of us. These experiences would ultimately impact my long–term
career goals. My family struggled and faced adversity however, we overcame our struggles because
the system intervened. My relationship with my mom has been my main motivator for pursuing an
MSW. Despite her struggles, my mom has been resilient and grown in her recovery. She now has ten
years sober from methamphetamine and all other drugs. My relationship with my mom has
motivated my career path in many ways. I have seen her change her life incredible ways with the

has played a tremendous role in my life. My choice of pursuing a BSW for my undergrad was
reiterated by many experiences I have while growing up in the rooms of Narcotics Anonymous.

Pieta In The Toilet Film Analysis
Terminal affliction dramas have been a long trope in films, with such classics like Love Story,
Bright Star, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Biutiful and Sunny; either handling the subject manner
in an understated manner or wringing all the dramatic juice out of it for all of its worth.
It is definitely used as an easy in for audience sympathy, which some filmmakers have taken
advantage of to the point that there have been some horrific films like My Sister's Keeper, P.S I
Love You, Restless and of course, Me Before You. Those are examples that are exploitative,
insistent and borderline offensive.
So, when I was planning to watch Pieta in the Toilet, I was a bit nervous as to how the film would

The Effects Of Video On Our Lives
In the video How to Live to be One Hundred Plus the main goal is trying to find the optimal lifestyle
of longevity and come up with a formula for longevity. Dan Buettner starts talking about three blue
zones: Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda, CA. The first blue zone is in Sardinia, only up in the
highlands with an area called the Nuoro province. This part of Sardinia has an oldest male society,
where 102 year olds ride bikes to work and chop wood. Since the land is so infertile, people in this
area are mostly shepherds, which means their exercise is regular low–intensity physical activity.
Their diet is mostly plant based and consists of unleavened whole wheat bread called carta musica,
cheese made from grass fed animals high in omega 3 fatty acids, and Cannonau, a wine with three
times the level of polyphenols. In this society, age and knowledge is thought of very highly, and is
celebrated through a centenarian of the month calendar. Keeping family around is also a big part of
the culture and can add an extra 6 years of life expectancy, which is also known as the grandmother
effect.
The second blue zone is Okinawa, which is made up of 161 small islands and is 800 miles south of
Tokyo. The northern part of the main island of Okinawa is ground zero for world longevity and has
the oldest female population. This society has the longest disability–free life expectancy in the
world. Their diet consists of a plant–based diet, full of vegetables with lots of color, and they eat

Blue Zones: A Perfect Life
For many centuries, people have wondered what the secret to having a perfect life was.
Maybe it was the certain types of food they ate? Maybe it had something to do with religion.
Dan Buettner's "How to live to be 100+" TED talk (with the help of the National Institute on
Aging) reveals three areas of the globe where people have lived to be over 100 years old due to
certain everyday habits, diets, relationships, and exercise. He has worked with These certain areas of
the globe are called the Blue Zones, where people have managed to hit the 90 and 100 milestones of

The life expectancy of a woman in Loma Linda is 89 and the life expectancy of a man is increased
by 11 years. Besides their longevity, these Adventists mainly focus on God, no matter how stressed
they are (Buettner, 2009). They have days, presumably on
Saturdays, where they only focus on God and nothing else, which is usually known as Sabbath
Day. Nature walks and social networks are often included in these days. Their diet is directly based
off of verses and stanzas in the Bible. They mainly focus on eating green plants, legumes, and seeds,
while occasionally straying away from meat. Another questionable aspect of their diet is that some
of these Adventists may have a protein deficiency. A prime example of a Californian centenarian is
Ellsworth Whareham (Buettner, 2009). He is 97 years old and a multimillionaire, but when a
contractor wanted $6,000 to build a privacy fence, Whareham said "For that money,
I'll do it myself" (Buettner, 2009). Although my community could add this to their lifestyle, we're
not exactly as religious as this culture and I don't think we would stick to such strict guidelines, but I
can't get over the fact that a fence was put up in four days by a 97–year–old man.
So much for feeling accomplished.

Aladdin Is A Fairytale Of A Scrappy Thief
Aladdin is a fairytale of a scrappy thief who gets into harmless hijinks with his best friend and
monkey Abu in the fictional city of Agrabrah. The whole point of Aladdin's narrative is that he,
unlike everyone else in Agrabrah, has great potential. Aladdin is worthy enough to enter a cave so
magical it is named the Cave of Wonders. Aladdin, as the audience is told, is better than the local
merchants selling food tin order to support their families. He is better than the guards, who were
hired by the palace to try their best to get the streets of Agrabrah safe. Aladdin per this movie is the
best person in town. This view of Aladdin is false, while Aladdin is said to have great potential, in
the movie Aladdin is not seen doing anything that makes him deserving of this title. And it is
painfully clear by the end on the story that no one in Aladdin cares about helping the people of
Agrabrah.
Based on the indirection to Agrabrah in the movie, Agrabrah is a large trade town. There is access to
jewels and wonders, yet the common person lives in poverty. The merchants in the market place are
very entuned to theft. And it appears that the sole purpose of the Palace guards is to pursue these
thieves. This suggests that theft is a huge problem in Agrabrah, which also suggests that poverty is
prevalent in the town. In Aladdin's character defining introductory song, he tells us that he is good at
stealing. "They're quick, but I'm much faster...(Aladdin)" One loaf of bread costs a fish

They believe in eating a plant–based diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables, and they believe
that drinking goat's milk can fight against heart disease and cognitive disorders such as Alzheimers.
They take daily walks and enjoying with family and friends and of course the daily glass of red wine
are just a few other secrets. They value family connections here in Sardinia; most families live
together, from the parents, children and the grandchildren (Buettner, 2008).
In Okinawa, they enjoy being active and being outdoors in the sunshine, gardening and enjoying the
company of their "moai (circle of friends). Having a good attitude and what they like to call the
"ikigai", which is what they say, gives them a purpose in life and what helps them get up every day.
They also believe in eating a plant–based diet, the consume a lot of tofu and rarely eat fish. What I
found very interesting that they eat more sweet potatoes, and they consume the spice, turmeric,
which has been linked to healthier hearts (Buettner, 2008.)
Loma Linda residents also believe in eating more plant based diets, eating in moderation, eating an
early dinner, drinking plenty of water, exercising to maintain a healthy weight, and as we have seen
in Sardinia and Okinawa, spending quality time with family and friends.

Loma Linda Home Case Study

  • 1. Loma Linda Home Case Study This letter is to address our move from our current home in Loma Linda to the new home in Redlands. First, we have a growing family with 2 adults, 2 children and a mother–in–law who lives with us full time. We have currently outgrown our house in Loma Linda and as they continue to grow, additional space is needed for each of their bedrooms. Currently, our Loma Linda is 2600 sq feet and this new home will provide us with over 3,100 sq feet and room to add and upgrade this home to our family's needs. In addition, my mother–in–law can longer go up the stairs at the 2–story Loma Linda house while the Redlands property is a single level house and will be ideal for her to have access to the entire house and for safety so that she doesn't get injured ... She fell from a ladder while she was trying to clean one of the curtain. When i heard the news that my mom was injured and admitted to the Emergency, i was panicked and shocked. I went to the ER right away to visit her and she was in a terrible condition at that time. She was in so much pain and kept on crying due the pain that she has to deal with at that moment. I decided to be by her side and comfort her until she feel better. I was really worried and did not know what to do to lessen her pain. I decided to pray and ask for God's grace to help lessen her pain. She never experienced this type of injury ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Blue Zone By Dan Buettner There are certain parts in the world called Blue Zones. Dan Buettner and a team of researchers including a National Geographic team searched all over the world looking for these Blue Zones what they called the Blue Zones study. Blue Zones are the hot spots for longevity. Individuals living in these particular Blue Zones live to be over 100 years old. The overall life expectancy for Americans is about 77 years of age. The life expectancy for a woman tends to be approximately five years longer than a male. There are four hot spots and they all have something in common and something different than the others. Buettner and his team researched the Blue Zones and their similarities and differences for weeks. The first Blue Zone is Okinawa, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elders provide wisdom, love and motivation for all younger ones. Like the Okinawans, Sardinians have a plant based diet using sheep cheese, goat's milk and meat as an accent not the main course. The third Blue Zone is Loma Linda, California. In the Loma Linda community they are Adventists. They volunteer which reduces stress and creates a sense of purpose. It makes an activity for Adventists with the same interests and skills. Volunteering connects them, bringing them closer and closer every time they work together. They are a very tight group of people. They take time to spend with their friends and for potluck socials. They have groups like Okinawan moais. Adventists find a place to observe the Sabbath every week from Friday to Saturday night. They focus only on their family, friends, nature, and, most importantly, God. They maintain a healthy body weight which helps keep cholesterol levels and blood pressure down. Some of the vegetables and fruits they eat reduce the chance of lung, ovarian and prostate cancer. They eat lots of nuts which also reduce the risk of heart disease and increase their life expectancy by two years. Adventists eat big breakfasts, lunch and then a light dinner which helps with sleep and lowers BMI. The last Blue Zone is Nicoya, Costa Rica. Nicoyans get a healthy amount of sunlight and Vitamin D everyday, making the chance for osteoporosis and heart disease lower. Like the Adventists they have their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Medical Delivery For Underserved Populations By Loma... (1) Describe the extent and source of your knowledge of Loma Linda University School of Medicine (LLUSM). (750 characters max) After conducting some research, LLUSM 's opening in 1909 has diligently been training prospective physicians coupled with service by means of Christian values. Being a distinguished and reputable institution, it combines preparation of a strong Christian foundation, diagnosing patient illness and offsetting future disease via preventative measures. LLUSM 's greeting of universal demographics, offering numerous research opportunities on top of clinical trials makes it well rounded in reaching out to the community. Fueling medical delivery to underserved populations is what drives their mission in teaching prospective physicians the balance between healing, teaching ministry as well as successfully implementing caring and compassion. (2) What makes LLUSM particularly attractive to you? (750 characters max) For over 100 years, LLUSM has been dedicated to strategically heal and teach the Christian ministry via health care, service, research, teaching prospective physicians, and spirituality. I 'm intrigued by the network of 6 hospitals coupled with its local and global involvement. I am grateful of LLUSM 's quick action in traveling to Haiti after the devastating earthquake as well as performing scheduled trips to the Amazon to reach out those without healthcare. Since medicine is advancing on a daily basis, I acknowledge that a high–tech learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. My First Clinical Shift At Loma Linda Veterans Affairs... For my fifth clinical shift at Loma Linda Veterans Affairs Medical Center, my assigned preceptor Filipina Gumangan assigned me two patients on the 4NW unit. The particular section of the unit where I precept is an intensive care step down unit. Filipina's objective for giving me two patients this shift was to give me an opportunity to practice time management; this meant I was responsible for many clinical duties corresponding to the care of these patients. My patients this shift were Mr. C, a 62 year–old Vietnam War veteran newly diagnosed with acute kidney failure, and Mr. H, a 63 year–old Vietnam War veteran in the hospital to rule out appendicitis. Caring for these patients taught me more about the humanbecoming perspective of nursing and showed me about multidisciplinary coordination with peers, colleagues, and more. My clinical duties performed this shift involved practicing many of the skills I have learned throughout this nursing program and practicing time management. That morning, I was responsible for getting a good hand off report of both patients during our walking rounds. I then went on the computer charting system to acquaint myself with both of my patients and get organized with my plan of care for the day. I reviewed the laboratory results and active orders for both patients. After organizing myself, I conducted full head–to–toe assessment, which were then recorded on each of the patients' electronic charts. With Filipina's help, I removed medications for ... • 13. Occupational Therapy Career Goals My career goal is to become an Occupational Therapist and specialize in pediatrics. I want to specialize in pediatrics because I have always loved to be around children and be able to help them in whatever they need. Also, pediatrics is important to me because kids are our future and if I can help kids for their future I will be glad to do so. The Godfather, The Exorcist, And The Silence Of The Lambs The Godfather, The Exorcist, and The Silence of the Lambs are three films that are often given the title "greatest of all time" in their respective genre, for very good reason. Each film consists of scenes that are crafted so unforgettably that the scenes leave each viewer with a sense of awe, shock, and horror when each scene is carefully examined. The Godfather, distributed in 1972 by Paramount Pictures, was directed by Francis Ford Coppola who in an interview said in regards to his filmmaking that "If you don't take a risk then how are you going to make something really beautiful, that hasn't been seen before?" (1). The Godfather certainly presented cinema with iconic and memorable scenes that were both beautiful and never before seen largely due to the new and risky ways Francis Ford Coppola presented The Godfather's narrative. Similarly, The Exorcist chilled the bones of audiences everywhere by shocking the world with grueling demonic possession in a tangible way that had never been presented before by cinema. The scenes in The Exorcist were particularly memorable because the scenes resonated with a large majority of American audiences who came from religious backgrounds where demonic possession is a sincere possibility; never before had a film brought Americans face–to–face with The Devil, Hell, and sin by means of horror. Horror was also a key element in Jonathan Demme's 1991 classic The Silence of the Lambs. Horror made each scene very memorable, particularly when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman By Arthur Miller Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller 1245 Words 5 Pages Death of A Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, is a play based on the turmoil within an average American family. Miller wrote Death of A Salesman easily showcasing the elements of drama. I was easily able to follow the plot, identify with his characters, and picture the setting. The main theme of the plot seemed to be Willy reaching for the "American Dream". Financial success, business success, outwardly perfect family, revered by your peers, and in general respected by all. Early on in the play two things are evident to the reader; Willy 's questionable mental status, and his tumultuous relationship with his sons. Willy is apparently suffering from some sort of mental or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wagner 's. He is also unable to come to terms with his own advancing years as a salesman. He only goes to Mr. Wagner to ask for a job strictly in New York when Linda insists. What he sees as valuable experience others see as obsolete. Willy longs for the days when the boys revered him and they were pals. Scott Foll states the driving point of plot is conflict (1182). This play definitely has the ultimate conflict. That is simply, family. Conflict with Willy and Biff, Willy with himself, and Linda with her sons. For me the turning climactic point is when while talking with Ben, Willy believes he can regain what he lost years ago with Biff by ending his life. He thinks the twenty–thousand from the insurance money will fix it all. I suppose the resolution in this play was Willy 's death. Although I do not imagine this could truly be resolution for the remaining family. Characterization seemed to be the most well developed element of the play. The patriarch of the family, Willy Loman was portrayed as the tragic hero. I believe his character did indeed possess some character flaws that inevitably led to his death. However, I agree with the character summary written in Spark Notes that Willy never achieved the self–realization or self–knowledge to be labeled a true tragic hero (Miller). He never fully realizes is personal failures, even with his death. His pride ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Volunteering For Your Volunteer Service There are a number of ways in which I plan to make a difference to the world, one way of offering my volunteer services to a number of organizations that I am assisting with. As a member the AAUW of Redlands I plan to make a difference by committing to help support local women in the community that hope to empower themselves in many aspects of their lives. Volunteering for me means that I am able to provide support to anyone that needs it thus, this not only enable's me to meet new people, but make friends and form a lasting relationship with others that have the same vision and drive as me. I believe that volunteering is just one form of how you can help make a difference to someone, but there are simpler ways to make a difference too, such as helping your disabled neighbor with running errands and picking up a few items from the local grocery store for them. This is what I do for my neighbor and she appreciates the help and I feel a sense of satisfaction that I have helped make life little easier for my neighbor. We support each other when we can and it is quite a blessing to be able to help and support each other when in need. In this movie, Linda Kozlowski acts as Sue Charlton and Paul Hogan Acts as Michael Crocodile Dundee. This movie is written by Paul Hogan, John Cornell, and ken Shadie. It is directed by Peter Faiman. An American reporter, Sue traveled to the northern territory to a town called walkabout creek. It is a small village where people live together and lead their life by hunting and very simply. Crocodile Dundee is a character who rides horses and subdue buffalos. Crocodile Dundee is representative of the Australian Bush culture. After watching this movie, I have understood how the main character Crocodile Dundee is influenced by his Masculinity culture and cultural competence. Crocodile Dundee lives in a culture in which masculinity has a means of power, respect, and pride. According to our textbook "communication: interpersonal communication" in a highly masculine culture, men are valued for their aggressiveness, material success, and strength. I think the main character crocodile Dundee's aggressiveness toward to the animals and people around him is the direct result of the culture he lives. For example, his aggressiveness toward the people he met in a small pub, him killing a snake without any weapon, and saving Sue from crocodile accident while she was in the water were how he express his aggrieves and strength to survive in a masculinity culture in which what he did result in appreciation and respect among the people he shares the same culture. Based on our text, "members of masculine cultures are more likely to confront directly and to fight out any differences competitively think that is the main reason he instead solving problems with conversation uses force to get what he wants. Sammy is attempting to tell the story of why he impulsively quit his job one day. He narratively gives a very vivid description of everything that happens. Sammy acts decisively when standing up for what he thinks is right. Standing up for what you believe in is an essential life skill. Sammy recalls on that day three barefoot teenage girls, in bathing suits walking into the store. "In walks these three girls in nothing but bathing suits" (Updike 1). He ogles them from his work station throughout the store, and conveys a very clear image of their actions. He categorizes them based on their looks and what they were wearing. Sammy says things like, There was this chunky one, with a two piece...", and also "... there was this one, with one of those chubby berry faces, the lips all bunched together under her nose" (Updike 1). The way he describes the last of the three girls would cause you to grasp the idea that he was fond of her. He tells us that she was tall with black hair. He goes on to explain that other girls would think she was very striking and or attractive. He proclaims her as a queen. Sammy declares, "She was a queen" ( Updike 1) "She kind of led them, the other two peeking around and making their shoulders round. She didn't look around, not this queen..." (Updike 1). Linda McQuaig's Shooting The Hippo: Causes and Results of Debt Linda McQuaig's most recent book, "Shooting the Hippo" is about the causes and results of the debt. It is a look at both the factual causes and the arguments which are merely presented to us through the various elements of the media. McQuaig delivers an insightful overview of the extensive media coverage which has bombarded us over the past few years. "With the excitement of a mystery writer, McQuaig tells the real story behind the debt." . McQuaig effectively presents arguments which give impressive evidence that we are continually being misled by the people in power. I believe this book has been an important step for me in considering the future of our country. It is my generation who will benefit from McQuaig's detective work. McQuaig delivers her findings and her opinions in a clear and concise manner. McQuaig effectively analyzed the problem of the deficit in a book that was easy to read because of its voice. At no point did I feel that McQuaig was speaking on an elevated level. I was not sure if they were dragged into the show by their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I was dragged into the theater to watch Aladdin the Musical with my younger siblings during a family outing in Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it felt like I was the only one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could find and criticize me. Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a foundation for their own plot. The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of Agrabah with the help of a powerful genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take over the kingdom of Agrabah by abusing the genie's powers. As the emcee made his announcements, I assumed that I would fall asleep on the cushioned seat from all the boredom I would experience from a children's fairytale. Pieta In The Toilet Film Analysis Terminal affliction dramas have been a long trope in films, with such classics like Love Story, Bright Star, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Biutiful and Sunny; either handling the subject manner in an understated manner or wringing all the dramatic juice out of it for all of its worth. It is definitely used as an easy in for audience sympathy, which some filmmakers have taken advantage of to the point that there have been some horrific films like My Sister's Keeper, P.S I Love You, Restless and of course, Me Before You. Those are examples that are exploitative, insistent and borderline offensive. So, when I was planning to watch Pieta in the Toilet, I was a bit nervous as to how the film would turn out. Dan Buettner starts talking about three blue zones: Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda, CA. The first blue zone is in Sardinia, only up in the highlands with an area called the Nuoro province. This part of Sardinia has an oldest male society, where 102 year olds ride bikes to work and chop wood. Since the land is so infertile, people in this area are mostly shepherds, which means their exercise is regular low–intensity physical activity. Their diet is mostly plant based and consists of unleavened whole wheat bread called carta musica, cheese made from grass fed animals high in omega 3 fatty acids, and Cannonau, a wine with three times the level of polyphenols. In this society, age and knowledge is thought of very highly, and is celebrated through a centenarian of the month calendar. Keeping family around is also a big part of the culture and can add an extra 6 years of life expectancy, which is also known as the grandmother effect. The second blue zone is Okinawa, which is made up of 161 small islands and is 800 miles south of Tokyo. The northern part of the main island of Okinawa is ground zero for world longevity and has the oldest female population. This society has the longest disability–free life expectancy in the world. Besides their longevity, these Adventists mainly focus on God, no matter how stressed they are (Buettner, 2009). They have days, presumably on Saturdays, where they only focus on God and nothing else, which is usually known as Sabbath Day. Nature walks and social networks are often included in these days. Their diet is directly based off of verses and stanzas in the Bible. They mainly focus on eating green plants, legumes, and seeds, while occasionally straying away from meat. Another questionable aspect of their diet is that some of these Adventists may have a protein deficiency. A prime example of a Californian centenarian is Ellsworth Whareham (Buettner, 2009). He is 97 years old and a multimillionaire, but when a contractor wanted $6,000 to build a privacy fence, Whareham said "For that money, I'll do it myself" (Buettner, 2009). • 75. Aladdin Is A Fairytale Of A Scrappy Thief Aladdin is a fairytale of a scrappy thief who gets into harmless hijinks with his best friend and monkey Abu in the fictional city of Agrabrah. The whole point of Aladdin's narrative is that he, unlike everyone else in Agrabrah, has great potential. Aladdin is worthy enough to enter a cave so magical it is named the Cave of Wonders. Aladdin, as the audience is told, is better than the local merchants selling food tin order to support their families. He is better than the guards, who were hired by the palace to try their best to get the streets of Agrabrah safe. Aladdin per this movie is the best person in town. This view of Aladdin is false, while Aladdin is said to have great potential, in the movie Aladdin is not seen doing anything that makes him deserving of this title. And it is painfully clear by the end on the story that no one in Aladdin cares about helping the people of Agrabrah. Based on the indirection to Agrabrah in the movie, Agrabrah is a large trade town. There is access to jewels and wonders, yet the common person lives in poverty. The merchants in the market place are very entuned to theft. And it appears that the sole purpose of the Palace guards is to pursue these thieves. This suggests that theft is a huge problem in Agrabrah, which also suggests that poverty is prevalent in the town. In Aladdin's character defining introductory song, he tells us that he is good at stealing. "They're quick, but I'm much faster...(Aladdin)" One loaf of bread costs a fish ...
