ABOUT THE COMPANY
At Jeevan Transport every aspect of logistics namely port handling, road
and rail transport, warehousing, shipping, etc. are combined as an
integrated logistics solutions and tailored to meet individual client
needs. This is aided by investments in infrastructure, equipment and
handling facilities to provide Cargo handling efficiency. The success
mantra is based on creating right process, investing in the right
infrastructure, recruiting and nourishing capability of employees,
constant training and business ethics.
HISTORY OF THE COMPANY
Jeevan Transport founded in 2000 is a leading integrated logistics
solutions provider with over 19 years of experience in providing end to end
logistics solutions. While traditionally known for its stevedoring, customs
handling, trucking and steamer agency businesses, Jeevan Transport today
has made significant investments in logistics-related infrastructure and
operates mechanized Port terminals (container and bulk), container freight
stations, container rakes, rail and road terminals. The company owns and
operates a container terminal at Tuticorin in a joint venture with the Port of
Singapore Authority which is engaged in ports and terminals business. The
company provides end-to-end solutions in Bulk Logistics-stevedoring which
includes port terminals customs house and shipping agency and
warehousing container logistics.
DAILY WORK REPORT
DAY 1:
➢ Overview of the company was given
➢ Allocation of the department was done
➢ Observed the duties carried out at the company
DAY 2:
➢ Computer skills was checked
➢ Updated the container information such as date, vehicle number, feet
of the container, contact number on Ms Excel
DAY 3:
➢ Bills for SICAL and ECCT was printed
DAY 4:
➢ Made invoice for the contractors
DAY 5:
➢ Manual entry of loaded and unloaded containers were
written in log book
DAY 6:
➢ Cross checked details such as container number, date and
amount from the database and logbook.
DAY 7:
➢ Typed for driver management and administration
DAY 8:
➢ Arranged the declaration form of the contractors
➢ Checked the mail for missing declaration forms and printed it
DAY 9:
➢ Accident / Incident report was updated on the database
➢ Vehicle management , driver management and fuel management
reports were also updated on the system
DAY 10:
➢ Typed and mailed the declaration form of the logistics companies
➢ Printed the agreement forms from the mail and acknowledged the
mails
DAY 11:
➢ The logbook maintained in each vehicle included date, time,
place, kilometer reading, driver’s name from the beginning and
ending was entered in the system.
➢ Called the respective drivers for the missing information
DAY 12:
➢ Used Transport Management System (TMS) software related
service like regular logistic companies, storage of data, collection of
data and route schedule
DAY 13:
➢ Typed declaration form for logistic companies such as SICAL and
MAERSK
➢ Acknowledged the mails from the contractors
➢ Learnt different GST Rates
DAY 14:
➢ Harbour visit

➢ Made monthly invoice for SICAL
➢ Made mothly invoice for MAERSK
DAY 16:
➢ Prepared checklist for containers which includes container
number, goods
➢ Prepared roster for driver management
DAY 17:
➢ Analyzed the number of fleets they need to rent daily and monthly based on the
demands and actual needs
DAY 18:
➢ Overview of storage and safety was taught
➢ Tracking methods were also taught
➢ Packing of specialized cargo was also taught
DAY 19:
➢ To maintain the vehicle pool and to run any container vehicle the permission and
documents were maintained
➢ Arranged the permission documents data wise
DAY 20:
➢ Entered the list of items carried in each load
➢ Separate list for unauthorised goods were made and it was sent to the contractor
DAY 21:
➢ Made phone calls for personal billing
➢ Got information from the log sheet in the vehicle and entered in the database

➢ Calculated weekly off of the employees
➢ Consolidated my learning’s as a Report.
Transportation Management System (TMS)
 Transportation Management System (TMS) is a software
system designed to manage transportation operations.
 TMS carries a set of coordinated transportation
management strategies. TMS helps an organization to
support their transport needs accordingly & efficiently.
 It helps in planning & decision making for the day to day
transport operation of a company. Transport department
manages the entire transport related functions at Jeevan.
It executes a set of activities associated with transport
through transport management system (TMS).
 TMS helps to better manage transport related service like
regular operational transport needs, pick drop service,
storage of data, collection of data, route schedule, online
ticket requisition etc.
Rental Vehicle Fleet Management
 Though Jeevan Transport has a large pool of own vehicles but it is always
not possible to support transport needs by its own vehicle pool.
 So it also rent vehicles for different purposes from their selected vendors.
 It also depends on the transport section whether they will provide the
company owned vehicle or rented vehicle based on the purpose, need,
location etc.
Vehicle tracking system
 C-track is a kind of vehicle tracking system which helps to locate the
vehicles 24/7 using GPS satellites and the GPRS network.
 This easy-to-use system provides an accurate view of positions and
movements which gives a better understanding of the whereabouts and
status of the mobile workforce when they are on the road and out of sight.
 Transport department of Jeevan Transport use the modern technologies to
effectively & efficiently manage their large pool of fleets.
 An electronic device or C-track is installed at all the vehicles of Jeevan. The
use of C-track helps them to track the vehicles movement & status
accurately.
Driver Management and Administration
 Jeevan Transport needs a huge number of drivers to run their large pool of
fleets. All Jeevan transport will be driven by officially appointed drivers. So it
need to hire drivers regularly.
 But this hiring process is not done by them. Instead they appoint drivers from
outsourcing companies or vendors.
 All the Jeevan drivers are hired by outsourcing companies. Transport section
is responsible for the selection of outsourcing companies, agreement with
them, maintain regular communication etc.
 They have to manage this huge number of drivers. Based on the needs
sometimes drivers have to give overtime duty. They will be paid for the OT
(Over Time) according to company policy.
 Weight of the load carried in a vehicle must not cross the limit specified
in the manual.
 Ensuring this limit is the responsibility of both user & driver.
 No illegal or unauthorized items are allowed to carry at Jeevan
Transport vehicles.
Load Carrying
 Travel Regulation will be as per Travel Policy.
 Where arrival/departure of employees falls before 06:00 am or after
10:00 pm, transport section may offer transfer service to/from airport,
train/bus/steamer station if the concern user raise the online ticket
requisition through vehicle requisition system at least 12 hours before the
actual need.
 Depend on availability double hand car (run at double shift: day & night)
can be given to them.
Travel Regulations
 A log sheet is maintained at each vehicle. Vehicle user need to
mention his/her name, ID, purposes of the journey in the log sheet.
 The purpose of the journey has to be specifically mentioned in the log
sheet without just writing “Official”.
 Driver must record date, time, place and kilometer reading in the log
sheet appropriately from beginning & end of each journey.
 The respective user also has to make sure about the recorded
information along with their signature.

 All Jeevan Transport vehicles must be equipped with first aid box
with necessary medicine and other materials and fire extinguisher
of appropriate class.
 Health Safety Security Environment (HSSE) Department will be
responsible to make available the first aid box and related
medicines at the vehicles.
Transport Safety & Security
 Maximum Speed Limit for Jeevan Transport vehicles are 60 KM/hr in
city area and recommended speed limit on the highways are 80
KM/hr.
 However, the maximum speed limit for any company vehicle is 100
KM/hr on the high ways, which is to be exercised by engaged
outsourced driver under discreet judgment of the user of the vehicle.
