This document provides production details for a music video being filmed at various London locations. 2. Advantages of location
The advantages of being able to film at school is that there are a variety of
locations and equipment that are readily available for me to use. For example, if I
wanted to have a video that was similar to Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ I would be
able to use the green screen in one of the media rooms. An alternative would be
that if I wanted to havea darker background with minimal lighting and props I
could use the drama studio as the walls are black.
Update: 22/01/15
I have managed to get some footage fromLondon, including a helicopter ride
over London and along the River Thames. I believed that this will highlight the
theme of being lost and confusion which ties in with the concept of the song
‘Maps.’
Update: 26/02/15
Since filming the footage over London, I have made some alterations to the idea
that I had produced. I had returned one of the original ideas that I was
considering of using the lyric cards, however, I have incorporated footageof the
model ‘reminiscing’ over photoswith friends. For these shots I used my friend’s
house and the black box in the schools drama studio. I liked these settings as they
were quite simplistic and easy for the audience to connect with.
Location Considerations (problems, timings, permission etc)
In terms of considering locations, I have had some issues as I initially wanted to film
up in London, however, due to timing being off and the lack of lighting in the
winter due to the sun setting earlier, I believed that it would be easier for me to
shoot the video at school. There are no issues really when it comes to filming at
school apart fromgaining a time slot to use a particular roomsuch as the drama
studio when it is needed, apart fromthis possible problem, there are no issues with
gaining permission as the teachers allow you to use it. (UPDATE)
