This document describes a professional development opportunity through George Mason University for teachers to learn how to use technology tools like computers, SmartBoards, and digital cameras to teach math to young students. The training was sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education and took place at Annandale Terrace Elementary School, with teachers Jennifer Orr and Valerie Skinner from Fairfax County Public Schools participating. The teachers learned how integrate tools like desktop computers, netbooks, SmartBoards, document cameras, and digital/video cameras into their early math instruction.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

We have four (old) desktops in our classroom. Anytime there are offers of computers I snag them. It means I spend some time coaxing these machines into working but it also means we have them.
We have access to a cart of netbooks shared by all the teachers on our wing (about 10 classrooms). We can sign up to check it out and we use these at least once a week.
We have a class blog. We post pictures and write about what we are learning. It’s main purpose is to communicate with parents about what is happening at school.
Part way through the year I allow the students to begin writing the posts for our class blog. I show them the pictures I have taken recently and they decide which ones they want to use. Then they dictate to me what they want to share. We use google translate to have our writing in Spanish as well.
One of our uses of technology is really basic. We play games online. I’m pretty picky about what we play. The three you see here are some of my favorites for this age group.
I have a delicious site for our class. It makes life easy for us when we are in the computer lab or have the netbooks. It also makes life easy for me because I don’t have to try and remember which sites I liked. It allows students an easy way to find the things we’ve been doing at school from home or elsewhere.
We have a SmartBoard in our room as well. We use it frequently but carefully. I want to be sure students are the ones using it, not me.
We also have a document camera. This is great when we want to look at smaller things as a whole group. That may be during a focus lesson I am teaching or during share when the kids want to teach each other about what they have been doing.
We use turtle art as well. This is a free piece of software – if you go to turtleart.org you can email the developers and they will send you a link to download it. I love it because it is fun but it also helps students learn about numbers and geometry.
We create a lot of movies together. The ones we make in VoiceThread are created by me and the students work with them.
Other movies involve more work on the students’ part. For this one, with pictures of every number between 1 and 100, the kids made all of the groups and took all of the pictures.
This movie was made more by me but was an opportunity for students to ‘write the script.’
This is my favorite kind of movie. The kids took all of the pictures, we dumped them into moviemaker (I think), and then the kids sorted the pictures by shape. Then we recorded the narration. This allowed the movie to be both process and product.
