The Little Ice Age was a period of cooling between 1550 and 1850 AD, with three particularly cold intervals around 1650, 1770, and 1850. During this time, human populations were vulnerable to small drops in temperature, and weather was two to three degrees colder than today. The Little Ice Age ended Viking exploration of Greenland as their livestock and crops could no longer survive the colder climate.
