and managing their Licensing and SAM processes within the organisa-
tion, from small companies to large enterprises.
Microsoft offers organisations various incentive programs to assist with
SAM initiatives within the organisation designed at delivering value to
their clients. These include:
Microsoft SAM Baseline Assessment
This engagement is designed to provide a complete view of a custom-
er’s current Microsoft product deployment and licensing position and
their SAM maturity level. With this information, the customer’s exist-
ing processes can be reviewed against the SAM Optimization Model
framework, identifying improvement opportunities and associated
Return on Investment (ROI).
Microsoft Deployment Planning Assessment:
This engagement provides deployment planning for SAM capabilities
relating to deployment, metering, inventory and control through a
proof of concept using System Center, Microsoft Intune or MAP Toolkit.
It also provides a SAM Improvement Plan that focuses on advancing
the Customer’s SAM maturity in the Hardware & Software Inventory
key competency area through process design, business case analysis,
and adoption planning.
Microsoft Cloud Ready Deployment Assessment
This engagement provides the Customer with and end-to-end
analysis of their Cloud Ready infrastructure taking into considera-
tion the current software deployments, usage and licensing data.
This will help customers assess their cloud readiness and establish
critical SAM policies and procedures to manage cloud and on
premise investments effectively.
Microsoft Cybersecurity Assessment
This engagement provides customers with an analysis of their
Cybersecurity infrastructure, taking into consideration current soft-
ware deployments, usage and licensing data. The analysis will be
the basis for the evaluation of the Customer’s basic Cybersecurity
state, providing insights to what software is deployed and areas
of potential risk. The analysis will also provide guidance on cy-
bersecurity programs and policies to help enable strong software
asset management and improved cybersecurity.
Microsoft Mobile Device Management Assessment
This engagement provides the Customer with an end-to-end
analysis of their mobile device infrastructure. This will help the
customer to gain a clear view of all the devices accessing their
network and data and provides guidance on cybersecurity pro-
grams and policies to help enable strong software asset manage-
ment and improved cybersecurity.
Microsoft Non Production Environments Assessment
This engagement provides the Customer with an end-to-end
analysis of their non-production infrastructure. A non-production
environment consists of machines that are exclusively used for
purposes other than production, such as development and test-
ing of custom software or staging of off-the-shelf line of business
applications being prepared for deployment. The analysis will
also lead to the ability to provide recommendations to optimize
non-production licensing as well as SAM policies, procedures and
processes to facilitate the customer’s non-production environ-
ment strategy and implementation.
SAM SQL Workload engagements Assessment
This engagement is designed to provide the Customer with an
end-to-end analysis and mapping of their SQL environment, tak-
ing into consideration current deployment, usage and licensing
data. The analysis will be the basis for the evaluation of the Cus-
tomer’s overall SQL Server state in relation to their SQL Server strat-
egy, helping the Customer optimize their current SQL workloads
while providing insights on the business, licensing and technology
benefits to moving additional workloads to SQL.
Virtualization Assessment
This is designed to provide the Customer with an end-to-end
analysis and mapping of their virtual environment, taking into
consideration current deployment, usage and licensing data. The
engagement will provide recommendations to help the Customer
optimize current investments while providing insights on the busi-
ness, licensing and technology benefits to reach their virtualiza-
tion goals.

Application and Desktop Management
Clients are assisted with managing their application portfolio and
preparing applications for migration to alternate operating systems or
technologies on both the desktop and server platforms.
Application Packaging
Application Packaging is the process of taking an application and pre-
paring it for automated deployment in a managed desktop environ-
ment. LinkState provides application packaging as either a contract,
ad-hoc or full outsource service. Many organisations wishing to reduce
desktop support costs are implementing software distribution tech-
nologies such as Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager to
perform automated software distribution and centrally manage other
desktop management related tasks.
LinkState provide flexible packaging services that endeavor to assist
clients to package and test applications more cost effectively. Our ap-
proach is always based on best practices and industry standards.
Application Provisioning
Application Provisioning focuses on providing a software delivery
mechanism to users for applications. This includes deployment tech-
nologies such as Microsoft SCCM and Microsoft App-V.
Application Remediation
Many organisations are looking at migrating their desktops to new op-
erating systems. This can often be a challenge if the applications being
used by the organisation are not supported on the new OS or have
not been tested. The more applications, the greater the impact on the
migration project. LinkState assists organisations with their application
portfolio to assess and remediate these applications in order for them
to be easily migrated or virtualised.
