Professionals, job seekers, hiring managers, and entrepreneurs all use LinkedIn to meet people and for networking opportunities across the worldAt the end of the first month that LinkedIn was launched, there were already 4,500 members in the network. Approximately half of all LinkedIn members come from outside the United States and a new member joins about every second. All Fortune 500 companies have executives that are LinkedIn members.
- #6 LinkedIn chose to target this audience for several reasons. As the head of online services, such as PayPal, founder Reid Hoffman knew that the online community was growing. He believed a niche community for professionals would be a great idea, especially since the economic downturn of 2002 would bring more job seekers. He merged with other successful online business men to start Linkedin.
