linked together since the 1980s
records are maintained with permanent URIs (ARK
Identifiers)
Automatic transformation of existing datasets
is « easy » following the Semantic Web
standards

 Contributing to the Semantic Web
 Linking both ways
• in : providing some « glue » between heterogeneous BnF
datasets
• out : linking to external datasets present on the Web such
as VIAF, WorldCat, Sudoc, Wikipedia, etc.
 Facilitating the re-use of data
• Providing a range of advanced functionalities (filter by type,
export, quote on social networks, etc.)
Rich contents, links and services
are present on each web page

5. objectives
 Open the data
 Technically
• Actionable URIs
• Standardized vocabularies (SKOS, FOAF, RDA, etc.)
• RDF serialization
 Legally
• Open licence : free to re-use even for commercial purpose ,
but the mention of the source and the date of last update
are mandatory
