3. Kendra: My father died of Aortic Aneurysm. An aneurysm is an abnormal bulge in the wall
of an artery. Normally, the walls of arteries are thick and muscular, allowing them to
withstand a large amount of pressure. Occasionally, however, a weak area develops in the
wall of an artery. This allows the pressure within the artery to push outwards, creating a
bulge or ballooned area called an "aneurysm.“
This is Genetic as well.
Mikaela: Father has Iregular Heart beat, and her Grandmother has blockage of the heart.
Corey: Great Grandfather died from Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Which is is a
combination of simulating the breathing of the lungs and the pumping of the heart. You
should know that CPR is effective less than 30% of the time.

Heart Walk
Q: Where does the money that we raise for Heart Walk go?
A: Each year millions of people participate in Heart Walks around the country. Each walker is
asked to raise money from friends and family, coworkers, business acquaintances, association
members, etc. The money that is raised each year funds the valuable research, education and
advocacy efforts of the American Heart Association.
Q: Do I have to raise money to participate in the Heart Walk?
A: No, however we rely on valued Heart Walk participants and donors across the country to help
us fund research and education programs like the My Heart. My Life. initiative. Raising funds
through the Heart Walk – the AHA’s premier fundraiser nationwide -- is a great way to make a
difference in the lives of others.
Q: How can I participate in Heart Walk if I am not with a team or company?
A: Anyone can participate in the Heart Walk, whether you are walking alone, with a team or with
your company. Just follow the information on this page to register.
