This document provides details for Assignment 1 of a BTEC Level 3 Creative Media Production course. The assignment requires students to investigate and document the uses and principles of web animation through 5 tasks. They will research how web animation is used in areas like advertising and interfaces. Students will also examine the development and techniques of animation, including formats, software, and plugins used for digital animation and web delivery. Their work will be graded based on criteria covering the description, explanation, and comprehensive explanation of techniques like stop motion animation using correct terminology.

Assignment title Assignment 1 – Uses and Principals of Web Animation
The purpose of this assignment is to: develop learners’ practical skills in the creation of interactive animations designed for web
delivery. Learners will investigate web animations and explore digital animation methods.
Learners will devise, plan and create an animation using vector-based animation software techniques to produce animated,
interactive web content.
This assignment covers; P1, P2, and P3 of Unit 65 Web Animation for Interactive Media.
Evidence can be claimed, where relevant, from units 19, 33 and 59.
Scenario: You will be creating an animated web site using vector animation software. You have been asked by your employer to
investigate web animations, enabling you to understand the uses of animation on the web. These investigations will cover both
visual and technical research. You should look closely at interactive animations on the web to analyse their design and content.
You will also investigate technologies associated with web animation in order to better understand how your website will run on
the internet. Remember that where “e.g.” appears in the range the student needs to describe, explain or analyse only those
elements that are relevant to the scenario content.
