Alexa Molinari wrote a letter to the judges of her senior project at Creekview High School about her goal to attend Kennesaw State University for dentistry. For her senior project, she created a cookbook with unique dessert recipes to challenge herself and see if becoming a cookbook author could be a fun career. While she enjoyed baking and had success creating her organized cookbook, she burned some cakes and things were more difficult than anticipated. Through completing this project, Alexa learned that while she will continue baking as a hobby, she does not have the patience needed to pursue it as a career.

Dear Judges:
Having a goal means wanting something and actually going out and achieving it. My
name is Alexa Molinari and my goal is to go to Kennesaw State University. I hope to get
a degree in dentistry and hopefully open my own dentistry office. My choice for senior
project was to create a cookbook and make some recipes out of it. My goal for this senior
project was to try something I have not done before and see if it could become a fun
career.
My end product was the cook book I created that has unique desserts in them. I picked
the desserts in them because I wanted to challenge myself to make those recipes and
because they seemed easy to create. I moved schools in the middle of the year and for
that reason I did not have to write a research paper. I did overcome some obstacles
throughout my journey. I burned cakes and made things wrong and the things I thought
would be easy turned out to be my biggest challenges. I did have success creating my
cookbook though. It turned out neat and organized. The pictures in my book turned out
blurry though.
Before this senior project began I had always had a love for cooking not only desserts. I
watched my mom cook for my family my whole life. She seemed happy that a simple
dessert could put a smile on me and my sister’s face. As I began finishing my senior
project I learned that yes baking is fun but, it takes more time and patience than I have
and I would not want to pursue this as a career. I will continue baking for years to come
and will do it as a hobby.
I actually liked doing this senior project because if I had not done it I would have thought
that making cook books for a living was a good career for me and I do not think that it is.
I learned that I have less patience than I thought and this senior project required a lot. I
would like to thank you so much for your time.
