“Christmas Lantern”
Observe the star illustrated.
B. ANALYSIS
1. Have you seen a star like this before? Does it look familiar to you?
2. What can you see on the star?
3. Why do you think the star have points and letters?
C. ABSTRACTION
 Point – a point has no size and shape. It is represented by a dot.
 Line – a line is composed of points forming a straight path. It has arrows in both
directions to show that it has no end.
 Line Segment – a line segment is a part of a line with two endpoints. The
endpoints of 𝐸𝐺̅̅̅̅ are point E and point G; In segment 𝐷𝐽̅̅̅, the end points are point
J and point D.
 Ray – a ray is part of a line with one end point and arrow extending without end
in one direction.
 Angle – an angle is formed by two rays that meet at a common endpoint called
the vertex.
 Plane – a plane is any flat surface. It has no thickness, extends in any direction.
It can named by:
a. identifying the points connecting the line
b. determining at least three points that are not on the same line.
There are three different kinds of lines:
 Parallel lines – parallel lines are lines that lie on the same plane; they do not
meet even when extended; they are equidistant from one another, or their
distance from one another is the same.
 Intersecting lines – these are lines that meet at a point called the point of
intersection.
 Perpendicular lines – there are lines that intersect at a common point and form
square corners. Each square corner is called a right angle.

  • 3. B. ANALYSIS 1. Have you seen a star like this before? Does it look familiar to you? 2. What can you see on the star? 3. Why do you think the star have points and letters? C. ABSTRACTION  Point – a point has no size and shape. It is represented by a dot.  Line – a line is composed of points forming a straight path. It has arrows in both directions to show that it has no end.  Line Segment – a line segment is a part of a line with two endpoints. The endpoints of 𝐸𝐺̅̅̅̅ are point E and point G; In segment 𝐷𝐽̅̅̅, the end points are point J and point D.  Ray – a ray is part of a line with one end point and arrow extending without end in one direction.  Angle – an angle is formed by two rays that meet at a common endpoint called the vertex.  Plane – a plane is any flat surface. It has no thickness, extends in any direction. It can named by: a. identifying the points connecting the line b. determining at least three points that are not on the same line. There are three different kinds of lines:
  • 4.  Parallel lines – parallel lines are lines that lie on the same plane; they do not meet even when extended; they are equidistant from one another, or their distance from one another is the same.  Intersecting lines – these are lines that meet at a point called the point of intersection.  Perpendicular lines – there are lines that intersect at a common point and form square corners. Each square corner is called a right angle. D. APPLICATION “Geometry Concepts Everywhere…” Ask the students what geometry concepts they can see inside their classroom. IV. EVALUATION Answer Knowledge Check A and C. (pp 336 and 338) and Knowledge Check A on page 343-344. V.
