Previous knowledge: Students already know the structure of present perfect and present perfect
continuous tenses.

Objectives
Students will use present prefect and perfect continuous tenses.
Arouse the interest of students about the topic “science and technology”.
Students will discuss about some aspects related with science and technology stating their
own opinions.
Objective 1: Students will use present prefect and perfect continuous tenses.
Context: student’s previous knowledge.
Aids: board, job cards.
Language: all and any.
Activities:
1. Time estimated: 10 min. Teacher gives some explanation about the difference between
present prefect simple and present perfect continuous use.
2. Time estimated: 15 min. Student practice present perfect and present perfect continuous
tenses through a game called “guess my job”.
Description of the game: students are divided into two groups, one student of each group is
given a card in which is written a job. Ss have to think about the different activities ‘their
job’ involves. What might a person in the respective job say at the end of a busy day? Ss
must use the present perfect continuous. The student has to present one sentence to the
class. If nobody knows the answer, they offer the second one. The first group to guess
which job is described gets the job card. The group with most job cards at the end is the
winner.
2. Objective 2: To arouse the interest of students about the topic “science and technology
Context: student’s knowledge about science and technology
Aids: board, pictures, sheets of paper.
Language: all and any.
Activities:
1. Time estimated: 10 minutes. Teacher asks students the difference between science and
technology. Teacher shows some invention which have change the way of live and
students are asked to name other invention they know.
2. Time estimated: 15 minutes. Students have to work in pairs and they are asked to draw
and described a gadget or device that has not been already invented. Then, they have to
present the new device to their classmates.
Objective 3: Students will discuss about some aspects related with science and technology stating
their own opinions.
Context: contrasting videos about science and technology.
Aids: videos.
Language: all and any.
Activities:
1. Time estimated: 10 min. the teacher and the whole class make comments about the good
and bad sides of science in order to contextualize the topic.
Teacher questions:
Do you know some invention that has been beneficial for people? In what way it has been
beneficial?
DO you think some inventions have been dangerous? In what way they have caused harm
to people or other living beings?
2. Time estimated: 15 min. Students watch two videos. One about the advantages of testing
on animals, the other about how much this practice hurts them. After that students and
teacher discuss about the video. They have to state their opinion, saying if they are in
favor or against testing animals. If they are against this practice, they have to say what
they would do to raise consciousness about the damage this practice can cause. After that
teacher show some pictures about a woman who faced a session of testing as animals do.
3. Time estimated: 15 min. students watch two videos. The first video is about Amish people,
and the second video is about a South Korea’s home of the future. After that students
discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of these life styles.
