DANCE
NATURE
OF THE
DIFFERENT
DANCES
DANCE
It is the movement of the body
in a rhythmic way, usually to
music and within a given space,
for the purpose of expressing
an idea or emotion, releasing
energy, or simply taking delight
in the movement itself.
It is a powerful impulse, but the
art of dance is that impulse
channeled by skillful performers
into something that becomes
intensely expressive and may
delight spectators who feel no
wish to dance themselves.
DANCE
Dance is one of the most
beautiful forms of art that has
grown in leaps and bounds. It is
no longer just a hobby but also
one of the most lucrative
professions as well.
DANCE
Dance therapy is very much in
vogue these days simply
because the experience of
dancing helps the person to
heal from within.
DANCE
Dance is a form of expression
that helps a person bring forth
who they are, and what they're
passionate about.
DANCE
The different types of dances and
dance styles that are prevalent all
over the world, are an indication of
the popularity of this art form. from
the olden days till date, dance has
always been performed for social
reasons or even if just something to
aesthetically display.
DANCE
The various types of dances are also
considered an entertaining way to
remain fit, with Zumba, and other
forms of dance, being incorporated
into workout routines.
DANCE
Every dance form has its own
unique identity. Each dance is
beautiful in its own way and has a
different appeal to it. Every country
has a distinctive approach to its
dance style, with ethnicities
worldwide merging dance forms
and even creating new ones.

DANCE
A truly universal definition
of DANCE must, therefore,
return to the fundamental
principle that dance is an
art form or activity that
utilizes the body and the
range of movement of
which the body is capable.

Elements
of
Dance
2. Energy
Body
1.
3. Space/Level
4. Relationship
5. Time
BODY
-dance is comprised of
various body motions
that express feelings
and emotions. Our
bodies move in ways
to express ourselves
using locomotor and
non-locomotor
movements.
ENERGY
-energy is the force at
which we express our
body motions. We are
moving with hard
motion or even gentle
motions either way. We
have our own choice on
how we move like
bounce, shake,
explode, or sway.
SPACE/LEVEL
-to show variation and
movement, we need to
use our surroundings
well. We zig-zag,
moving high and low.
We use the entire
space around us and
below us.
RELATIONSHIP
-in dance, we often
dance with other
people or with many
people in a group. just
like with the
conversation, we
communicate and
react using our bodies.
TIME
-timing is key to any
dance. We follow the
rhythm or beat to
match our actions with
the sound of music.
When working with
others, we sometimes
mimic another using
time.
Activity
Give at least 5 locomotor and
5 non-locomotor movement
Using the locomotor and non-
locomotor movements that
you gave in item number 1,
create a dance routine (at
least 1 minute and 30
seconds), combining the
different movements. You
can also choose the music
you want.
Assignment
Enumerate 3 things that you realize
about dancing.
Give the possible benefits that you will
get from dancing.
Name at least 5 genre of dancing.
THANK
YOU
