Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452 in Italy and showed an early talent for drawing and painting nature. He apprenticed under Andrea del Verrocchio and helped paint "Baptism of Christ," impressing viewers with his realistic angel. Da Vinci later worked in Milan where he designed buildings, churches, and weapons for the Duke, inventing various war machines. Considered a Renaissance man for his diverse talents, Da Vinci made contributions across many fields including art, science, invention, and mathematics, though he wrote his notes backwards out of fear they would be read. He is best known as an artist and created famous works that taught new techniques, but some of his works have been damaged or stolen
