A legend of how the sea and the sky turned blue.

Once upon a time, there was this supreme god named Bathala who created this
world through Ruah (air). He created the world full of colors. However, the sky and the
sea was transparent. You can see the galactic heaven above the sky, the aquatic wonders
and treasures with your bare eyes.
One day, there was a Royal tribe led by Datu Habagat with her fair and beautiful
maiden Amihan. The love of Datu Habagat and Amihan produced twin brothers
namely Abo, the first who came out from Amihan’s womb, and then Asul. Asul was
unique. Having a distinct skin pigmented with a color they have never seen before, it
surprised every person that has seen him. The twin brothers were destined to be rivals
since they were born fighting for their birth rite. Both grew up with countless wisdom,
both manifested the qualities of being the next heirs to the throne, and both acquired
strong physical endurance. But Asul possessed a strong will and an extraordinary
power; he could manipulate every creation of Bathala and this impressed his father
Datu Habagat who treated him as more special than Abo.
On the brink of Datu Habagat’s death, he needed to divide his territories to both
of his sons. He entrusted the right portion of the Land to Abo. This land was unpleasant
where there are full of rocks and thorns and no one inhabits this place. On the other
hand, Datu Habagat gave the left portion to Asul. The place was full of life where
creatures love to dwell and riches were easy to cultivate. When the father had already
divided the land, Abo planted hatred against his family.
Darkness dominated the jealous core of Abo’s heart and longed for great
vengeance. Abo kidnapped his father, brought him to a concealed place and tortured
him to his death. The demise of Datu Habagat caused tumult in the once peaceful
village, anxiety grew within the people, and the order in the village was disrupted. Abo,
still discontented, chased after his mother Amihan. He plotted her death and succeeded
to get rid of her. The only one left alive in Abo’s family was his brother Asul to whom
he was jealous with.
He found Asul strolling by the sea. He rapidly dragged him with great force to
the cliff. Abo cried aloud to his brother every grief that was hidden in his heart.
Eventually, he confessed his jealousy to Asul. Asul was about to give up his land for his
brother but he gave more reverence to the words of his father. He didn’t give up the
land and fought for it. Their swords were clashing, bloodsheds upon the ground as the
two of them slashed their swords to kill each other. The destiny of the two brothers of
rivalry has now been fulfilled and has come to an end as Asul hangs on the edge of the
cliff struggling for the last moment of his life. He was crying with indignation to Abo as
said his last words: “You may rule over the land that our father entrusted to me but I
assure you that you can’t easily get anything from the sea no matter how you strive for
it and you will always remember me whenever you look upon the sky.” Asul fell into
the depths of the ocean as the gigantic waves swallowed his body and his color spreads
throughout the ocean and it became blue. As the sun strikes light into the water, the
colors of the ocean reflected to the sky and it also became blue.
Abo saw the sudden change from his surroundings and his anger faded as he felt
regretful for the unrighteousness he has done to his family and to his tribe.
