LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES
LEGAL ISSUES: WHAT IS NEEDED TO OBEY THEM
COPYRIGHT/COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL If I have used graphics that I have not created
myself, I will be using a royalty free website
called Freepik.com. This website allows
people to use images for ‘free’ by paying a
onetime price and it can be used as many
times as they want for any use needed. The
‘royalty free’ means that the person does not
need to pay any additional royalties to use
the image.
CONTENT CLEARANCES I have already been granted permission to
use the Netflix logo as they have approached
me to create something under their name.
The age certificate will be provided via the
BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) so
that I use the correct 15 certificate.
LOCATION AGREEMENTS I have asked for permission to use the
photography studio and have been allowed
time to use their space.
DISCRIMINATION I have represented all social groups and have
not displayed any stereotypes.
ETHICAL ISSUES WHAT IS NEEDED TO OBEY THEM
INFORMED CONSENT I have obtained permission from the model,
and they have signed a contract agreeing to
the terms and conditions of their pictures
being used.
CHILD CONSENT Again, I have obtained permission from the
model and if they are under 18, I have also
gained consent from their carer/guardian and
asked them for their signature for proof.
SEX, VIOLENT, LANGUAGE I do not have anything on my posters that
would be deemed as offense. There is
nothing that would scare or disturb a child
too much. My tagline is ‘it’s gonna be one
hell of a night’ for teens this type of language
is not ‘bad’ however for a 5- to 10-year-old
they catch onto things very quickly and may
use this phrase which for their age may be
deemed as rude because of the use of the
word ‘hell’. However, there is no use of
extremely strong language so it should be
okay.
OVERT STEREOTYPES I have no forms of stereotypes in any of my
posters at all.
The ASA:
The ASA (advertising Standards Agency) are UK’s independent regulator of advertising across all
media, their purpose is to make adverts responsible, legal, decent, honest, and truthful. The
rules set by the ASA make sure that consumers are not misled, and consumers are not harmed
or offended by ads. This helps to maintain consumer confidence in advertising. If my poster
does go beyond these guidelines the ASA will not allow my posters to be seen in public, but
because my posters do follow their guidelines, it will be okay for the public to see. For example,
a few of their guidelines are that there should not be any form of discriminatory language or
explicit images which none of my posters have any form of this.

OVERT STEREOTYPES I have no forms of stereotypes in any of my posters at all. The ASA: The ASA (advertising Standards Agency) are UK’s independent regulator of advertising across all media, their purpose is to make adverts responsible, legal, decent, honest, and truthful. The rules set by the ASA make sure that consumers are not misled, and consumers are not harmed or offended by ads. This helps to maintain consumer confidence in advertising. If my poster does go beyond these guidelines the ASA will not allow my posters to be seen in public, but because my posters do follow their guidelines, it will be okay for the public to see. For example, a few of their guidelines are that there should not be any form of discriminatory language or explicit images which none of my posters have any form of this.
