This study examined students' confidence with informational texts and how it relates to reading performance. The researchers used a Confidence with Text Questionnaire and a Reading Performance Test to measure students. Dudley (2014) points out that social work practice is usually embedded in programs. While you looked at practice evaluation using single-subject design in Week 3, this week, you shift focus to program evaluation. Program evaluation serves many purposes, including accountability to funders and to the public. Often, funding sources such as government agencies or private foundations requires periodic program evaluations. These evaluations can help provide answers to many different questions, and can contribute to improvement of services. There are a variety of program evaluation models that are appropriate for addressing different questions as well as facilitating the collection and analysis of many different types of data.
To prepare for this Discussion, identify a program within an agency with which you are familiar, which could benefit from process evaluation and outcome evaluation. Under chapter 16 this week, we will explore topics such as incorporating the internet for your research, revisiting participant testing as well as interviewing. Ethical concerns, historical research, and its appraisal.
In review of chapter 17, intervention in research will be explained. As per our text, not all research involves an intervention. Frequently, interventions are seen within improvement projects frequently completed in DNP programs. At this phase of research, the principle investigator interacts with their research team. Documentation stems from the methodology section.
Investigating the internet in research, please know and understand the following.
Internet-based research method
refers to any research method that uses the Internet to collect data. Most commonly, the Web has been used as the means for conducting the study, but e-mail has been used as well. The use of e-mail to collect data dates back to the 1980s while the first uses of the Web to collect data started in the mid-1990s. Whereas e-mail is principally limited to survey and questionnaire methodology, the Web, with its ability to use media, has the ability to execute full experiments and implement a wide variety of research methods. The use of the Internet offers new opportunities for access to participants allowing for larger and more diverse samples.

In order to make decisions about the value of any research study for practice, it is important to understand the general processes involved in analyzing research data. By now, you have examined enough research studies to be aware that there are some common ways that data are reported and summarized in research studies. For example, the sample is often described by numbers of participants and by certain characteristics of those participants that help us determine how representative the sample is of a population. The information about the sample is commonly reported in tables and graphs, making use of frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, and dispersion. Information about the variables (or concepts) of interest when quantified are also reported in similar manner.
Although the actual data analysis takes place after data have been collected, from the initial planning of a research study, the researcher needs to have an awareness of the types of questions that can be answered by particular data analysis techniques.

Program evaluation serves many purposes, including accountability to funders and to the public.
