Definition:
• Leadership is the process of influencing others towards the
accomplishment of goals
• Leader will triggers the will to do, show the direction and guide the
group members towards the accomplishment the company’s goal
Behaviours of Quality Leaders
• The customers first
• Value people
• Build supplier partnership
• Empower people
• Demonstrate involvement/commitment
• Strive for excellence
• Explain and deploy policy
• Improve communication
• Promote team work
• Establish system
• Encourage collaboration
Leadership styles
• Directing style
• Consultative style
• Participative style
• Delegating style
Directing style of leadership
• It is an autocratic style
• It is normally used when the leader must take a unilateral decision that must
be followed without comment or question from the workers
• The need to use this style of leadership is more knowledge of the situation
otherwise decision affects the common good of the organisation
• In this leadership style, those who work for them have little input or feedback
Consultative style of leadership
• This style is used when a leader is seeking input from those working
under him
• This style of leadership encourages the participation
• When using this style of leadership, the leader seeks advice, suggestion,
and input of those around him but the leader still remains the final
decision maker
Participative style of leadership
• A leader assigns work to the employees, provides guidance during the
work process, and makes a decision based on the conclusions of the
employees working for the task
• Unlike the consultative style of leadership, in this situation the leader is
more likely to take the word or work of the employee(s) as the final
decision in the matter
Delegating style of leadership
• The leader essentially tells the employee or team what needs to done,
assign the responsibility and provides the individual or team with the
authority to get the job done
• The leader checks to verify the successful completion of the assignment
and participative only if necessary

  • 2. Definition: • Leadership is the process of influencing others towards the accomplishment of goals • Leader will triggers the will to do, show the direction and guide the group members towards the accomplishment the company’s goal
  • 3. Behaviours of Quality Leaders • The customers first • Value people • Build supplier partnership • Empower people • Demonstrate involvement/commitment • Strive for excellence • Explain and deploy policy • Improve communication • Promote team work • Establish system • Encourage collaboration
  • 4. Leadership styles • Directing style • Consultative style • Participative style • Delegating style
  • 5. Directing style of leadership • It is an autocratic style • It is normally used when the leader must take a unilateral decision that must be followed without comment or question from the workers • The need to use this style of leadership is more knowledge of the situation otherwise decision affects the common good of the organisation • In this leadership style, those who work for them have little input or feedback
  • 6. Consultative style of leadership • This style is used when a leader is seeking input from those working under him • This style of leadership encourages the participation • When using this style of leadership, the leader seeks advice, suggestion, and input of those around him but the leader still remains the final decision maker
  • 7. Participative style of leadership • A leader assigns work to the employees, provides guidance during the work process, and makes a decision based on the conclusions of the employees working for the task • Unlike the consultative style of leadership, in this situation the leader is more likely to take the word or work of the employee(s) as the final decision in the matter
  • 8. Delegating style of leadership • The leader essentially tells the employee or team what needs to done, assign the responsibility and provides the individual or team with the authority to get the job done • The leader checks to verify the successful completion of the assignment and participative only if necessary
